Give him credit for what? The team just finished its 6th straight double digit losing season, 7th straight losing season under his ownership. They have up the most points in NFL HISTORY. So sure I’ll give him credit for being the sole reason the Panthers have been the laughing stock of the NFL since he bought the team. I’ll give him credit for raising money for the hurricane victims.

On the one hand, the team gave him minimal resources to be successful. The defense was obviously the afterthought in the team building process. It’s like the offense was for basically two decades under Fox and Rivera. There are maybe 2 or 3 players on the defense that would even have a chance to start on other rosters. On the other hand, I routinely saw Evero calling inappropriate defensive calls for the situation. Playing corners 5-7 yards off receivers on 3rd and 1. I saw lack of effort from defenders on many occasions. The Jamar Chase long TD comes to mind. So I’m torn, because Evero wasn’t set up for success. But at the same time if they’re about to invest a large amount of resources into the defense, they might as well have the head coach hand pick his guy.

Officially The Worst Defense in NFL History
hepcat replied to LelouchBritannia's topic in Carolina Panthers
The effort has not been there -
Panthers were -212 in point differential in 2010. They are currently -199 in point differential (worst in the NFL this season by far! Cleveland is 2nd worst at -177 and their season is over) So unless the Panthers post a 23 point win (I’d bet my life savings that doesn’t happen today) the Panthers will have the worst point differential in the NFL and if they lose by 14 or more points to the Falcons, will clinch the worst point differential in the franchise’s history. Despite some bright spots at points this season, the team is still garbage. Tepper ruined this franchise. I can’t wait to see the next sterling example of ineptitude this franchise shows us next season.

2014 when the Panthers destroyed them in ATL to win the division and become the kings of sh*t mountain. The famous Ron Rivera thumbs up gif. My least favorite was 2012, Haruki Nakamura whiffing on the deep pass to Roddy White at the end of the game, Matt Ryan screaming “get the f*ck off our field” BS.

Bryce Young post benching if it were a full season worth of stats.
hepcat replied to Car123's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don’t really care about the stats, what I will say is, I think we all agree he passes the eye test a lot more than last year. Whatever happened while he was benched seems to have saved his career. He’s proven he can at least be a moderately effective NFL QB and he will likely have a long NFL career as a fringe starter, and definitely a backup. I still think his physical limitations mean there is not much room for improvement with him. The only way for him to play better is to put an elite supporting cast around him. -
Not doing to matter unless they fix the pass rush
-
It’s Sarkesian’s playcalling. His cutesy playcalling burns them but also saves them
-
Texas won a game they absolutely should have won in a blowout and also definitely deserved to lose. I think either Oregon or Ohio State will beat them thoroughly
-
That kicker needs to be fired into the sun. Garbage
-
They completely missed Ewers getting targeted as well.
-
What is targeting? The definition is: “when a player makes forcible contact with an opponent that goes beyond a legal tackle or block, or playing the ball” I think the ball being tipped changed how the defender reacted to the ball and he didn’t lean into his helmet. There was a no call on Ewers getting hit in the helmet too. Might have just been evening it out.
-
Seemed kinda incidental because of the tipped ball
-
That PI in the end zone was uncatchable. Defense was on the field way too much.
-
Man Ewers, plays like a robot. The playcall is in, he just does it regardless of the read. He has been so disappointing this season
-
None
-
He’d be a good short yardage back for sure. Mike Alstott style. He’s “vomiting profusely” on the sideline right now though
-
Why on earth is Arizona St talking trash? They are getting beat but every play, I see one of their players jawing. I mean, who do they think they are? Yea that 3 point win against Texas State is definitely something to be proud of. Game over.
-
Texas is a really weird team. They are so good at times, the defense is elite, but the offense is hot and cold. I think Sark’s offense is too cute sometimes.
-
Sure, if they had comparable talent they wouldn’t have lost any games. They had a cupcake schedule. Putting Arizona State in the playoff over teams like Alabama or Miami is a joke.
-
Back on topic Arizona State is so bad I’m laughing at this game. Texas needs to clean their sh*t up because they can’t play like this against Oregon and expect to win.
-
The guy in New Orleans who drove through Bourbon St last night and killed 10 people?
-
They tried SO HARD to get points on that drive and they ended up with 0. They shouldn’t even be in the playoff over a team like Alabama or Miami. Arizona State barely beat Texas State who I sometimes forget isn’t a D2 school.
-
Arizona State is the biggest paper tiger in the playoff. I looked at who they played and the scores, and knew Texas was going to absolutely DOG DICK them. It’s going to end 45-10. They don’t have a chance.
