Totally agree. But they aren’t playing him because they don’t have a plan B on the roster. Darnold gets hurt it’s season in the toilet.

If Jacob Eason and Sam Ehlinger looked good against this defense….it’s going to be a rough season. But hopefully it just speaks to how good Frank Reich is as a coach though.

No mention of how the colts offense did against the Panthers defense? Because with the garbage the Colts have at QB I bet the Panthers D looked decent at least.

YGM showed some flashes last year and that’s what you want to see from a rookie. Next season I hope he gets some starts and shows more flashes. Then in his third year I’d expect him to be starting. Right now I think he’s right on pace. It’s Burns’s third year and look what people are expecting from him. He might be in contention for DPOY at some points next season.

Not drafting Fields was a bad move either way but WHY are we talking about it in this thread? Christiansen was not a bad pick even if he doesn’t play this season. Moton didn’t play in his first season.

Biggest problem I have with the Panthers offseason was not bringing in a second potential starting option. Whether it was drafting Fields or signing someone like Dalton, keeping Bridgewater or whoever. They needed another option.

Play him until he doesn’t suck. Leave him in until TD drives are happening.

I hope this shitty O-Line can get better playing against guys like Brown and Burns like how Gross got better practicing against Peppers. If the D-Line is eating their lunch every day it's going to be a long season.

Darnold has played 3 seasons in the NFL, and they were all bad. His statistics are bad up and down. The team that drafted him dumped him. So yes, I would say the collective “we” thinks he is pretty bad. What’s good about him? The fact he isn’t Teddy Bridgewater? Because that’s about it. Darnold is still living on hope and potential in his 4th season. Very rarely do QBs that have failed like him magically morph into a good player. If he does, great! I’d be very happy if he plays well. But I’m not counting on it. Given the risk Darnold comes with, already having 3 bad seasons under his belt, this team needed to bring in another starting option in case Darnold fails. They could have added a 1st round QB to compete with him. Or brought in a veteran FA. ANY competition for him at all. Hell they could have kept that asshole Teddy Bridgewater out of spite. Instead they have a former XFL QB and another massive draft bust that I want to forget this team ever had on the roster. Bottom line is, if Darnold fails, this staff deserves to be eviscerated. Because that QB room might be the worst in the NFL.
