The worst with a clean pocket, the worst in the red zone…
hepcat replied to AceBoogie's topic in Carolina Panthers
Unless there's some other reason they didn't pick Fields (scouts knew something about him the public didn't), you have to throw resources at the QB position until you find your guy. QB is so much higher value than CB it's not even close. If Darnold doesn't pan out this coaching staff might not even be around to try to find the next QB. -

There's a very high chance Darnold is a bust. He was mediocre to downright awful on the Jets, with flashes of potential sprinkled in. Knowing that, the Panthers still traded for him, and then passed on Justin Fields. The Panthers were so desperate to get rid of Teddy Bridgewater, but refused to double down at the QB position to get it solved. Doesn't make any sense to me. -
Wish he lived in Charlotte during his playing career. And played for the Panthers. Smitty and Moss holy poo.

Hope, but be real. We don't know what Darnold is, but that's OK.

That’s why they’re so horny for Watson -

depending on how bad the team is next season it might be Rhule's last season in 2022 if they don't figure out the QB situation. -

I thought Teddy was complete ass and his social media burner accounts were straight up bizarre but Darnold has a much lower floor than Bridgewater does. The pit of despair could be a different layer of hell with Darnold. -

Who is kissing their ass? The team has gotten worse every season Tepper has been the owner. -

I’m like 90% sure Darnold is gonna be complete ass and might make us actually wish they never got rid of Bridgewater as hard as that is to believe. Darnold has been downright awful most of his career with a few flecks of potential sprinkled in and I’m not sure why all of a sudden that would change. Just seems like other than drafting a QB he was the only other option available with some youth and potential upside. I would have rather drafted Justin Fields even after they grabbed Darnold so at least if he was butt they had a backup plan on the roster. If Darnold is trash like I expect him to be it’s going to be a sad season to watch because the defense might actually be decent. But that 10% hope that I’m totally wrong and Darnold is a secret all-pro waiting to happen will keep me excited for the season. -
It’ll probably be LT by committee again this season, but Week 1 I think it’ll be Trent Scott. When they re-signed him they spoke very highly of him. He started a 4 games at LT last season and didn’t look bad doing it. But I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw 4 or 5 different guys start at LT this season, and I bet one of those guys is Moton. Either way it’ll be the most important position to address in the offseason next year aside from if Darnold flops.

Yes I read your post…You responded to my post asking what other players on the team I consider elite, I told you. There’s CMC and Moton. You mentioned a bunch of average to good players. I responded saying why they clearly aren’t elite players. You don’t need to be wildly over-optimistic to be a true fan. I’m just being real. The team just re-signed the only other elite player on this team than CMC and for that I am happy. Keeping elite talent is how you win games.

We have crazy different definitions of an elite player. To me an elite player is someone who could be first or second team all-pro any given season. You’re just talking about players with potential at this point. Currently elite players on the team, it’s just CMC and Moton. Burns is not elite. Yet. He hasn’t even had a double digit sack season. But he’s clearly the closest player on the team to becoming an elite player. Horn, Brown, Chinn - all guys who are too early to say. Potential is there though. DJ is not elite. He is a good WR. TD production lacking and that could be QB caused, but his numbers and impact is not elite. Reddick? He has miles to go to be considered elite. He had most of his sacks in one game last season. He got let go from his previous team for a reason, because he’s wildly inconsistent. And you’re talking about Dan Arnold becoming an elite player? Cmon man. The rose colored homer glasses are just too much!
-
Elite players on the Panthers? It’s CMC and Moton. That’s it. Burns could get there quickly. Maybe Chinn, or Derrick Brown if he keeps improving. I hope Horn becomes elite given his NFL bloodline. After those guys, I don’t think there’s anyone even in the conversation for “elite”.

Glad he’s staying. He’s an elite player on a team without many of those.

What will a week 1 loss to the Jets do to Darnold?
hepcat replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
It would be just the kind of thing this sorry franchise would do. We're never on the better end of the story line. -
He was projected to be a late first round pick originally. Didn’t really see him so much of anything to justify that last season. Seemed to be drafted about where he should have. Could definitely turn it on though, physical talent is there.

REPORT: No movement in Panthers’ talks w/ Taylor Moton
hepcat replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
He’s gone and the team probably knows it. They drafted Christiansen to possibly replace him. Moton will probably go replace Daryl Williams in Buffalo next season lol -
Going to depend who starts at LT. After that all the rest of the positions on the line start to fall into place. If Moton goes to LT, that shakes up a lot.
-
Rhule said oh damn I love Cam Newton weeks before they cut him
-
I think they drafted Brady Christiansen to play RT in case Moton walks.
-
It really all hinges on Darnold. If McCaffrey stays healthy and the running game is strong, that should open up a lot of play action and "safe" chances for Darnold to play safe football. He'll need to take risks down field, that's why they acquired him over Bridgewater, but those chances are meant to be risky.

Is Denzel Perryman the Carolina Panthers’ most underrated player?
hepcat replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
Going from Cam f*cking Newton to a noodle armed crazy asshole like Teddy Bridgewater to a ruined loser like Sam Darnold makes me so sad. -

I thought they were definitely going to sign KJ Wright. They picked Perryman instead. The sh*t he did with his bro and the threesome is a wild story. -

Most of his sacks were in one game. I don’t know how consistently he performed the rest of the season.
