Sam Darnold : Will he make it to a 2nd season here?
hepcat replied to glenwo2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sam will be here next season one way or another, but how many games he starts depends entirely on how well he does the rest of the season and what QBs are available in FA and the draft in the offseason. -

Let's just go on record right now. Who you picking Shula or Brady
hepcat replied to Snake's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’ll pick the guy who took us to a super bowl but I don’t feel good about it. If Brady had MVP Cam who knows what he’d do -
PFF: Panthers go from easiest schedule to date to now hardest

did we need more evidence this team was going to lose like 10 in a row??? -
How in the hell did Taylor get 10 solo tackles?
hepcat replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I said all week the Vikings had the ability to attack the defense in many of the same ways the cowboys did. To the tune of almost 600 yards of offense. -
I'd get a draft ready. I think we can all sense a mind numbing inexcusable loss to a terrible Giants team on the way. Should be miserable!

He sure was. Imagine if he had a true running threat to do it. Darnold would get killed if Brady kept calling those plays. -

Having Cam sure would make Brady's red zone play calling a lot better. Brady: "Cam, please barrel through people including your own shitty blockers and get in the endzone." -
The only true unacceptable loss was the Eagles game. Panthers should have dusted those guys and blew it in the 4th quarter. The Vikings are a quality team and I expected that to be a tough game. The Cowboys look very solid this year and I think many of us expected that to be a tough game to win even before the season. It's not even just that they lost these last three games, it's how they looked while they were losing. They are losing in a miserable way. Dropped passes, turnovers, defense getting destroyed late in games, 3rd quarter meltdowns, it's just ugly and embarrassing.

Does anyone have any faith we beat the Giants?
hepcat replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean would anyone be surprised if the Giants took us to the woodshed? I wouldn't. -
I'm just spitballing here, but let's go back in time and speculate how different each Panthers season would be from 2018 onward, if they forfeited every Thursday Night game. 2018: Steelers Massacre. This game individually ruined the Panthers 2018 season. Cam Newton's shoulder was probably destroyed for good in this game and the defense was completely decimated. If the Panthers don't play this game, their season might still end up similarly, but who knows? This completely destroyed all confidence for that team. 2019: Cam's last game as a Panther. The Bucs came to Charlotte and beat the Panthers on a rainy night in Cam's last game as a Panther. The end of the game was sadly ended on a fake QB sneak to CMC, which was stopped short of the goal line. It was a miserable way for Cam to end his time with the Panthers. If this game doesn't happen, does Cam get more time to heal up and continue playing that season? 2020: Atlanta embarrasses the Panthers. This game looked a lot like the games of 2021, with the Panthers looking good early in the game and falling apart late. If this game doesn't happen, I'm not sure much changes with the season honestly. Donte Jackson went down in this game for awhile and the team continued to decline after this. 2021: A losing streak begins before the game was even over. CMC, Jaycee Horn, and Juston Burris are all injured in a win over the Texans that really felt more like a loss. The Panthers still haven't recovered from the injuries in this game. So let's just speculate, let's say the Panthers never play any of these games. How different are their seasons?

How extensively will the offense need to be rebuilt this off-season?
hepcat replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think a second thread might be useful to discuss this honestly -

I feel like the Panthers would have been better off forfeiting the Thursday night games the past few seasons. No joke. -
it wasn't damaging, it just gave the entire team and coaching staff a false sense of confidence. When Fitterer stood up on the podium and said the Panthers expect to make the playoffs after trading for Stephon Gilmore, I knew we were f*cking doomed.

The Panthers have always been amazing at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory -
So let’s say the offense continues to struggle. I think it’s becoming more and more obvious that unless something crazy happens, Joe Brady won’t be here next season for one reason or another. The jury is still out on Darnold but next season there should (hopefully) be a second potential starting option on the roster, whether it is a veteran backup or a rookie QB. CMC continues to appear injury prone for a second straight season. The offensive line might return only one starter in RT Taylor Moton. On the bright side, the WR corp has a deep amount of talent that should all be back next season. TE Tommy Tremble is showing potential. Ian Thomas is a solid backup and may or may not be back. Regardless, it’s looking like the offense could be VERY different next season.

Are the 2021 Carolina Panthers worse than the 2020 Carolina Panthers?

They're the same team. What was improved is offset by what has gotten worse.- 58 replies

At this point it’s clear the wheels are coming off for this team. The cracks were apparent from early in the season, but they were masked by elite play from CMC on offense, and by playing some bad opponents on defense. The inexperience of the coaching staff is becoming more obvious every week. Injuries are taking their toll as well. All that said, the Panthers probably aren’t as bad as we think they are, but the season might be over before we see them prove it. The Panthers should come out and demolish the lowly and injury decimated Giants next week. It might be enough to get the team back on track and regain some confidence. A loss, and well, I don’t see them winning another game this season. What a mess this season is shaping up to be. Yet another miserable Panthers season.

It’s one thing to get beat because the other team is better than you. It’s another to just keep punching yourself in your own dick over and over and that’s what this team feels like

is darnold worse than teddy was?
hepcat replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Based on what I saw today Darnold might be more clutch than Teddy but I don’t think he’s like way better, they are both kind of ass
