He wasn't teddy bridgewater

It's really as simple as Sam Darnold started playing poorly and it snowballed from there. The offense lost faith in him and the defense got gassed from being on the field all the time because they couldn't move the ball on offense. The team finally quit all together on Sunday against one of the worst teams in the NFL. It's going to get really ugly unless something miraculous happens.

Trading for Deshaun Watson could set the Panthers back many years

not similar at all. he was already on that team and didn't require giving up any assets. also that was like 15 years ago and a completely different era pre me-too movement. -

The rumored price Houston wants is multiple first round picks and starting caliber defensive players. If that’s true then the price is outrageous and ridiculous. -
Please don’t put that evil on us I’ve had enough of dumpster diving QBs
-
You have to keep running to set up play action, even if it might be into a stacked box. They just got shut down by a BAD Giants defense. Darnold was terrible but so was the playcalling.
-
Except they called 17 running plays vs 49 passing plays. I think we know why they lost yesterday.

They’re both bad QBs but I think they’re both better than Darnold

Making this trade in the middle of the season after a pathetic miserable loss would be a knee jerk move. They should not be making these major decisions mid season because who knows what the team will even look like if/when Watson would be able to play again. Darnold sucks, Joe Brady is probably out, hell if the team has truly given up like they did today, Rhule is probably gone too. -

I think it’s pretty clear giving up a large amount of assets for a QB accused of being a sexual predator, who might not see the field for what could be years, is not a good idea. I hoped my post would sway people who were on the fence. I think we as fans should be united in our opposition for trading for Watson. Yes we all want to win, but this would be a knee jerk move that wouldn’t solve the other many problems the Panthers have. It would be a horrible decision and I hope the team is not really considering it, despite how bad the team has turned out to be. The team will be better served by having high draft picks and not having the distraction of wondering if and when Watson will finally play football again. -

This team hasn’t had status quo since Rivera left. Rhule and co haven’t even established that yet. It’s chaos right now. -
He doesn’t know anything about football unlike Richardson. He needs to hire professional football advisors and step out of the way.

When did you give up on Matt Rhule?
hepcat replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Today. Team gave up. That’s all folks. -
Daniel Jones didn’t do that bad, give it to him

Jordan Love is waiting on the Packers bench for whenever that crazy bastard Aaron Rodgers decides to retire or actually force his way out of Green Bay. Would the Packers be open to trading him? Might take more than a first round pick but who knows? Let’s say the Packers are open to trading him. Anyone interested knowing he’s a total unknown? What is he worth?

Hence why I also said the part about how no one will forget these accusations and the PR nightmare that comes with it. -

Well imagine not having any 1st round talent the next 3 seasons, losing key defensive players like Burns and/or Chinn. And having a QB they traded for that won’t play until who knows when. It can get a LOT worse. -

The fans are gonna run him out of town if the team keeps looking like it has the last couple weeks. He is probably already taking calls from college teams. -

Trading for a guy who might not even play? Who brings negative attention to the team? Who might look a lot worse playing for a BAD offensive coaching staff? Sounds like a great plan. -

Definitely. At least the defense has some talent and kept the team in as long as they could. It’s like 2010 all over again. -
I am firmly coming out against trading for Deshaun Watson. #1) The rumored price tags of multiple first round picks and quality starting players is ridiculous. Unless Watson has all charges dropped and the accusers recant their statements before the trade is completed, he’s not worth what the Texans want for him. Even under normal circumstances it’s a crazy price tag. #2) There’s a strong chance Watson ends up on the commissioner exempt list until the legal situation is resolved. So the Panthers would need to trade a lot of assets for a guy who has an unknown start date. #3) There is a huge amount of negative PR the Panthers will have to manage after trading for a QB accused of being a sexual predator. Regardless of how the legal situation pans out, Watson still had a lot of nasty allegations against him. Those allegations are out there in people’s memory now and fans won’t forget that quickly. #4) Let’s say the Panthers do trade for Watson, he gets through the legal troubles, and ends up the starting QB for the Panthers. Strictly as a player, why would he be a success on this team? The Panthers are poorly coached on offense and the players have given up. If the Giants game showed us anything, it’s that this team has a LOT more problems than just QB play, although that is a huge problem as well. All that said, a failed Deshaun Watson trade could set this team back by 5-7 years depending on the amount of assets they give up. Not having first round picks can have a negative impact many years into the future. I’m not in favor of this trade for many reasons and hope it doesn’t happen. I’d rather this team just rank and draft a QB next season with a rebuilt offensive line and new offensive coaching staff.

Losing to the Giants - should someone get fired?
hepcat replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I can only imagine what Tepper is thinking right now. Dude has egg all over his face real hard. But what can he do at this juncture of the season aside from trade for an accused sexual predator who might not even be eligible to play? -

The truth is Darnold was never good. He has to be one of the most overhyped QB prospects I’ve ever seen. He’s accomplished literally nothing in the NFL and wasn’t even that good in college. And to top it off, Joe Brady is another massive hype train that has no merit to it. Brady has just been around success, never actually achieved it himself. He needs to go back to being an assistant on a well established staff like maybe Alabama or going back to the Saints and learn his trade. What a horrible decision hiring someone so inexperienced. -
Sad thing is they could have done both even with Darnold on the roster. Start Darnold until he sucks, then play the rookie. Next week would be the time to roll out a 1st round rookie after prepping him all off-season. But here we are with NO OTHER OPTIONS. How STUPID do they have to be to think that rolling with a Jets reject QB as your only option was a recipe for success?
