What would y'all think of hiring Ken Dorsey as HC next year?
hepcat replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
He has NFL more experience than Matt Rhule had. -
I know it's very very early to be thinking about the next head coach, but I think we all can sense that Matt Rhule is on borrowed time with the Panthers right now. Out of all the up-and-coming candidates out there, Ken Dorsey is one of the more exciting ones to me. Dorsey has developed Cam Newton and Josh Allen with great success. Although Dorsey wasn't officially Newton's QB coach until 2013, Dorsey worked at IMG Academy where Cam was training before the 2011 NFL draft and was a Pro Scout for the Panthers from 2011-2012. Dorsey's work with Josh Allen is well noted. Allen went from a physically talented but very raw prospect out of Wyoming to quite possibly the second best QB in the NFL behind Patrick Mahomes. Let's say the Panthers play this next season smart (I know, what a concept), trade down in the 1st round and get some extra picks, and draft Malik Willis. Willis is a similar prospect to Josh Allen. Physically talented but very raw and in need of solid coaching to become an NFL QB. Cam was further ahead than Allen when he came into the NFL, but Dorsey still coached Cam during his best and most productive seasons. Rhule gets fired after a poor season, but Willis shows flashes of ability near the end of the season. In comes Dorsey, with experience in developing a similar style of QB, and the kind of NFL coach who has put in his time and could be ready to make a move up to head coach. Maybe be brings in a former head coach as Defensive Coordinator (Steve Wilks maybe??) But here I am talking about rational, intelligent moves a smart organization would make. The Panthers are probably about to trade 3 first round picks for Kirk Cousins.

Much better?
-
Someone hire a private investigator to unearth some of Tepper’s secret misgivings so we can get him to sell the team
-
for a 6th round pick many of which never play a snap in the NFL, Daley was good value
-
Burns was a solid pick but outside of that YIKES. Daley gave good value for where he was drafted.
-
Could have signed him last year so probably not going to happen

Cousins/JimmyG makes a lot of sense for Rhule (not the Panthers)
hepcat replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yea like I said in another thread trading for Cousins is a nightmare scenario. He’s good enough to be around .500 and take the Panthers out of contention to draft a top rookie QB next season. I’d honestly rather tank with Darnold or even roll the dice on Pickett because rookie QBs can end up being something unexpected. -
Panthers have reached out to Minnesota for Kirk Cousins

Tepper in the War room on draft day.
hepcat replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
If memory serves me correctly, it was rumored Tepper wanted to draft Fields. Probably would have worked out better in the long term even with Darnold on the roster. -
Could have been us instead it's the Steelers.

Where’s all the jamokes who told me he’d never coach in the NFL again
-
Don’t speak in logical terms we all know we’re drafting Matt Rhule’s friend Kenny Pickett Fence

DJ is from Philly
-
It’s already been done champ. Vikings pulled this move trading Diggs for a 1st and getting Justin Jefferson. Not saying the Panthers can turn around and get a WR as good as Jefferson but they could sign a vet FA cheaper than what DJ will command in a contract extension.
-
DJ is one of the most consistently good but not great WR’s in the NFL. But one thing I do not like about DJ is his seemingly casual attitude and lack of killer instinct. He just doesn’t finish plays and get in the end zone, as evidenced by his low TD counts every season of his career. This franchise needs an attitude adjustment, and trading away DJ could put the rest of the players on notice. It’s not about stats, it’s about winning. He might even net a 1st round pick. Cam made a comment about DJ in his intro press conference when he came back to the team about DJ and how he doesn’t really “get it” (when talking about winning). I never really thought Cam and DJ were on the same page attitude wise. Cam is a winner and a leader. DJ just seems like he's willing to be good enough. I wouldn’t be against trading him if he got us a 1st rounder or collection of picks. There’s enough talent on offense and enough veteran FAs to replace him of equal caliber. Terrace Marshall needs to step up. Robbie got a big pay day, make him earn it. Re-sign Zylstra. Make CMC take more snaps at WR. Sign a vet FA.

Everyone wants Rhule gone but, what if
hepcat replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s just too little too late. We all know this team is a mess and there’s no cleaning it up in one off-season by shuffling a few coaches around. Far too many holes on the roster to expect to compete next season even if they broke the bank for a top veteran QB. They botched the QB situation so badly that our only hope is bottoming out, hiring a new coaching staff, and drafting Bryce Young. -
just came here to laugh at some dumbass fanboy saying the Panthers or hell even the Saints got preferential treatment because Sam Mills got into the HOF. what a crock of sh*t, people are so f*cking dumb.
-
I think he should walk. Need to get bigger up front. Teams ran all over us this season. Sign a low cost vet DE with some run stopping ability. Hope Gross-Matos develops. Probably should let Burns walk too. Can't win with tiny tweener DE's that can't stop the run.

Name something specific that would get you pumped for this season
hepcat replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think there's any one specific thing they can do that will change my feelings on the upcoming season. It would be a number of things
