  1. Though technically there is something happening in football every month of the year the 6 weeks or so between mini-camps and training camp has to be the longest part of the year for diehards. (most of us on this forum whether we want to admit it or not.) I'm off to the Philippines (Olongapo City for all you Squids and Jarheads) I'll be there for a month. So this long period before football starts won't be so long for me. I actually have home right outside the old Subic Naval Base now known as Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority or SBMA.
  2. Unless we end up with a top 5 pick again, I seriously doubt we are going to draft a QB if Corral sits on the pine this year. The O-line is much improved, at least on paper, and he won't be running for his life like David Carr. Put him in, let him learn as he goes. Most 1st year starters struggle at the beginning of their careers. I would rather Corral get his learning done during a season where we are not suppose to be competitive. It would be a shame if we put together a great team and than we throw Corral out there for the first time.
  3. Trading for Mayfield will have it's repercussions if we fail to make the playoffs. (many here predict 8-9 or 9-8 record) You can kiss a first round QB goodbye. We would have to have a top 5 pick to select a QB. An 8-9 record will get you roughly the 13th pick in the next NFL draft. With Baker we are probably going to end up middle of the road. Corral will sit and we will not get any game time evaluation on him. I seriously doubt we are going to waste a mid-first-round pick on a QB. This trade is or will be an ass saving move for Rhule. IMO It would have been better to start Corral, no matter how poorly he plays. Even if he went 4-13 at least we would have an evaluation on him. It wouldn't be the first time a franchise QB had a poor rookie season. If he looks lost we are in a position to grab a top 5 QB. The odds are not in our favor this season as it is. Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Baltimore and who knows about Cleveland from the AFC and we have arguably the toughest division in football in the NFCW. Not to mention our own division. Save the draft pick, start Sam a couple of weeks and put Corral in and let him finish the season. Evaluate him and play for 2023.
  4. What gets me about Cleveland is they are putting the team in a position where they are going to have to eat the entire 18.9 million. They could save 5 million and get a low round pick if they would accept the Carolina's terms. I guess they think we are desperate enough to take on more than we want to. I say we hold out until he's released. To your point, outside of the money issue, Mayfield could come in and show the league he's a starting caliber QB and will get a good deal somewhere. Corral isn't forced into playing and Darnold can carry the clipboard. To me it is a no brainer providing we don't give in and pay more than we initially offered.
  5. Move him behind PJ he's not ready yet. What a wasted pick.
  6. I still don't see us giving in on the salary. We may want him but they are going to have to eat most of his salary. Especially since Denver got us to eat most of TB5's contract. We would be the laughing stock of the NFL if we didn't make Cleveland eat most of it. I personally believe Cleveland will cut him before they let him show up at minicamp.
  7. Both have huge question marks about their ability. Baker a bit better but not by much. Cleveland F'd up and Baker wants out. Either way you are going to have to pay his salary. Better take Darnold who has no connection the the Watson/Mayfield story.
  8. I'd rather run with Darnold and Corral than to pay 9 million of that salary. I'd do 5 because that's probably what we'd offer him if Cleveland cuts him.
  9. For some reason they think his great career is going to transition well in the booth. I'm not one of them. I find Brady irritating to listen too. I don't see him as being better than Olsen. Olsen just has that voice for it. Very knowledgeable and makes a good team with anyone.
  10. You can tell he was on some pretty bad teams. He never made the playoffs once in his career.
  11. This is my UDFA to watch knowing his chances are slim to none. I pick one each year and this is my choice for 22.
  12. That's something I hadn't thought about. Rhule hasn't been the brightest light bulb in the room when it comes to hiring coaches. Though I do like the Campen and Wilks hires. That said McAdoo wants to run the ball. We now have on offensive line (at least on paper) that is built to maul some people. CMC, if he stays healthy, might have his best season as a runner and along with Foreman we might bring back the glory days of Double Trouble. He's had success before. I believe most coaches when they get fired reflect on what went good and what went bad. And take that experience and become better providing their egos don't get in the way, ie Nagy. I get your point but I rather be optimistic than pessimistic. I like all the hires we have made so far and optimistically hope he's the right hire for the team we have. We better hope so because Corral is his type of QB. The next coaching staff, if Rhule/McAdoo fails, may not like him.
  13. I'm glad we got Wilks back but he was a scapegoat so they could hire Kingsbury. He got one year and that was it. Not many coaches turn around a team in one season. He'll make our secondary one of the best in football.
  14. Mitch was good in L.A. and given the time he'll get the Hornets straight. MJ knows what he can do. Mitch is also a former Tarheel and he and MJ are family.
  15. Positives He's quick as hell. Appears to be a good defender. Lots of potential. Not saying he is Giannis but Giannis wasn't very big his first couple of season. If Kai can bulk, with his quickness he could be a real find. Negatives Kai's not going to dunk that this in the NBA. The majority of his highlights are dunks against players that probably won't ever sniff the NBA. It's nice to see him make a couple of three but those seem to be far in between. Anyone know is 3 point percentage. He needs to beef up. ALOT He'll get pushed around by quality NBA big men.
  16. I'm not so down on the 2021 draft. Many of those players got in games last year and hopefully they have grown some. I don't think we've ever had a draft where they actually played on game day. We'll see.
  17. I think it is Mays too. He is perfect for our run first offense and his versatility will get him in the lineup sooner than later.
  18. I'm not totally convinced it was all about talent. Something makes me feel that the Rhule Rookie effect was in place. In preseason he wasn't just playing well against 2nd teamers he had a couple really nice catches against 1st team talent.
  19. When we mention Elfien, Jordan and Daley in our starting line up in 2021 and now they are almost an afterthought for even backups it says alot of how we have address the line situation. We CLEARLY have a much better starting unit and we have some quality depth. Had Rhule played Christensen and Brown more last season we would have a much better start to 2022. I have no doubt Campen is going to get the most out of the players we have on the final 53.
  20. Kind of reminds me about KK Short. Is he even in the league anymore. I remember his rookie season when he was toe to toe in stats with Aaron Donald. He got his big paycheck and disappeared.
  21. OTAs are voluntary. Got it. There was a time where every Panther showed up at OTAs. It was when we were relevant. IMO when star players or supposed to be star players don't show up. They really do give a crap about the team. Robbie has been a little bitch all off season. Removing Panther stuff from his page and other things. Making BS comments about players he does and doesn't want on the team. If you don't want to be here, ask for a freaking trade and be done with it. I would respect him more if he asked out and his motivation for not showing up was a holdout for a trade. As a veteran of the WR corps he should be out there. He got his long term deal. Hasn't asked for a trade so show the F_CK up and earn your freaking salary.
  22. For me, Robbie missing OTAs is not acceptable. We have a new system and a struggling QB and a rookie QB. He's the oldest WR veteran we have. He should be setting the example. I know OTAs are not mandatory but he should be the 1st WR out the door for these younger WRs. Just my opinion though.
  23. It makes perfect sense to me. BC is a pretty smart guy and your center needs to be smart to make the O-line calls. Giving him reps at Center makes perfect sense. Campen is tinkering will players and if BC can play center than 2023 we don't have to resign Bozeman and BC still has 2 years on his rookie deal. It was nice when we had players that could play G and C or G and LT. It seems more to me that some of these folks just want everything to fail so we can bring in another coach and start all over again. What's really bothersome is no one knows whether the next coach is going to be any better than the one we got. NO ONE. They'll speculate but no one is 100% sure of turning things around.
  24. The way I look at it, if Corral is going to struggle in his first year under center. I would rather him do it this year than having to wait until 2023. If Corral can execute the playbook. Let him play. Our line is much better so he won't be running for his life. I still wish they would sign Cam as a backup. He's much better than PJ and Darnold.
  25. No, it was just names they said could possibly be released by GB. I was just listing all 3 the article mentioned.
