Dave Canales announces next week's starting QB
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
There is going to be a munity very soon. The players are going to start protecting themselves instead of trying to win games. I agree with many posters. It isn't fair to the other 52 players on this team that work so hard only to have a midget trying to run their offense. -
At this point I am starting to believe that this is Tepper's goal. Put as sh$t show on the field to the point no fans show up and he says he must move the team.
-
We'll see who's in charge. If Young is playing next week Tepper is clearly making the decisions. I think we keep Dalton as backup and give Plummer a chance. He has the tools and if Canales is the QB whisperer than maybe he can do something with Plummer. You look Bryce was 18-26 but was barely over 4 yds per reception. We have all sorts of weapons that can stretch the field, but Young can't make those plays. If we had a competent passing game our running game would be much better.

About those big money Guards Morgan spent on….
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
True but when linebackers and safeties don't have to worry about the pass they can come up and make the tackle. If you think you can just run the ball down their throat without ever passing than you're stuck in the 50's. The 1950's. -

I'm glad that you posted this. I not going to bash Morgan like some have already done. Our draft picks contributed and our free agents are doing well. I give the defense time to gel because we added so many new players after the initial 53 man roster. There were several miscommunication on the back end. We all know Morgan and Canales are strapped to Young by Tepper. Hopefully, Tepper receives the memo that Young is not the answer. At this point I'd either play the Red Rifle or Plummer. -
Start a Coup to oust Tepper

And I thought Peter Angelos was bad. The Orioles sucked for years under his ownership. He was going to let his young talent go until they finally sold the O's. Sadly, Tepper makes money no bad how this team is. He'll never change. -
In agreement with you. We signed all these run-stuffing D-linemen and they seemed MIA. I defense od Evero we had several new pieces on the field that we not part of our training camp. We better see weekly improvement there.

Canales is one and done, btw
DaveThePanther2008 replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Canales will be a better QB whisperer with Plummer than Young. Plummer has some tools that he can work with. Sadly, Tepper will insist to keep Young in the lineup until it's too late. -
Young is having a sophomore slump
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Shotgun's topic in Carolina Panthers
We gave him a o-line, we gave him weapons and a head coach that is supposed to be a quarterback whisperer and nothing has changed. He has one good throw and 6 terrible throws. It's pretty clear he's not the answer. I've always been pretty optimistic but this is out of hand. Give Plummer the helm and let him grow. It's sad after one half of football and I'm looking at the #1 pick for the 2nd year in a row. -

Panthers initial 53-man roster
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I tell you what. Frank Gore Jr. Reminds me so much of Terrell Davis. He runs hard and is difficult to go down. After running for 100 yards against us last week you would think he's on our radar. Definitely than Blackshear. -
I agree. New England has zero WR help. Maybe Buffalo because of Joe Brady.
-
Plummer, for a rookie, played well Saturday. I can see him on the PS and continue to develop and could be a good backup in 2025 and beyond. Don't think he's starting material but might be a solid backup.
-
Last week I was watching the Pat McAfee show and he had Billicheat on. Billicheat said a lot of good things about training camp and preseason. He said the preseason was more about evaluating players and their technique and in game experience over team play. You're looking at guys who are fighting for a roster spot. No one really gives a damn whether they win or lose. It's more about evaluation.

I think the possibility of a trade will depend on how this team is trending. Are we playing well and just need a few more pieces? Or do we need to continue to build through the draft and get younger players to grow in our scheme. I believe if we are trending upwards Horn doesn't go anywhere. If we aren't improving than getting draft picks and build through the draft than Horn might be available. Hopefully, Morgan does not undervalue Horn. I believe Horn will play every game this year or at least to the trade deadline. If he plays every game without injury to the trade deadline I think we can get a 1st and at minimum a 3rd for him.

2024 Carolina Panthers record prediction
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
I like the addtions on defense and believe our defense is going to keep us in many games. If the offense can put us in the 20-24 point range we might just have an above .500 season. No one gave Houston a shot at making the playoffs this time last season. Why can we duplicate what Houston did in 2023. 9-8 and in the wild card hunt. Gotta love optimism. -
More of a conversation. I still have hopes that BY shows with some weapons and a legitimate offense line he's going to be better.
-
Definitely see your point. However, he made Geno Smith 22 and Baker Mayfield 23 Pro Bowl QBs. I would venture to say Prescott is a better QB than both of those guys.
-
A) I said IF. B) The past two seasons Canales has shown he knows what he's doing. Because Young couldn't grasp his training doesn't mean he's not a QB whisperer.
-
Agreed. If he would take a very respectable deal leaving us a little money to add more playmakers I'd be more then happy with a top 15 QB running the show here. To me this is the biggest drawback. Part of the issue with DP is he wants top dollar.

Does the Canales era have a new vibe?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to SmittysLawnGuy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Come on, man. You know you miss the potbellied Matt Fhule. -
If in 2024 Brice Young doesn't show improvement and there aren't any surefire franchise QBs in the 2025 draft. Dak is done in Dallas after 2024. Would you consider Dak? For me I've never been a huge Prescott fan but with Canales's ability to bring a QB along it's an interesting thought.

Mingo stat. Lost yards on uncatchable balls
DaveThePanther2008 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
What this doesn't show is whether BY was up to his ass in defenders crawling all over him. Before we pass judgment for 2024 how about we wait and see if a stud O-line makes a difference. -
This is just the beginning. Pro Football Hall of Fame is next. He was a defensive coordinator worst nightmare. My favorite thing about 89 is he didn't back down to anyone. MJ is the GOAT but I cannot think of anyone that took smack talking to a level of MJ other than Agent 89. I will never forget Fred Smoot talking how he was going to shut Smitty down. After that game Smoot was never the same. Plus I was estatic to have seen that game live.
