  1. The turnover was obviously necessary. Clean house and start over. What I think is being overlooked is this is Morgan and Canales team. It's not like we acquired all these players with the same coaching staff and philosophy. Canales and his staff (minus Evero) will come in knowing just as much about the new players as they would have with the old. There will be an adjustment as they get to know them but because they are bringing in a lot of new (hopefully DAWG type) talent that will come together faster. Offensively our interior line should give our QB more time to throw the ball to better receivers. Defensively we added several new pieces but a few of them have played for Evero before. That's will help the learning curve. I think in the end it will come down to not who we acquired but how they mesh together with our staff.
  2. You can forget Wilson dropping to the 3rd round. No way, a player falls to the 3rd round when he scooped up the Butkus and Bednarik awards. If we are desperate for a WR at 33 the best, we can hope for is Wilson falls to 39. I'd take Wilson at 33 and WR at 39. I also think a plus with Wilson is he's been in Luke's back pocket for several years and they communicate often. (Or so I heard)
  3. I am not 100% sure that 33 is going to be a WR. BPA may be our choice at 33. Than we can address WR at 39. We have 2 good route runners now and need a good route running speedster. Mingo and TMJ are big receivers who need to become better route runners. Hopefully, Canales will work with them and improve or WR room. 4 weeks to go.
  4. If Corral continues to play like he did Saturday, he'll end up as someone's 3rd QB. He had a couple of good throws, and his interception was more on the receiver than him. Receivers should catch those throws 99 out of 100. Our team was a mess with terrible leadership and crappy offense. This is probably the best situation for him to get a little experience in professional football. Granted no one on these squads made an NFL roster but the talent level is still higher than a college level team. It will be interesting to see who grabs him after the season is complete, providing he continues to play well.
  5. Offensively, we added two really good Guards and a solid WR. We are giving Young more time to throw and at least one more reliable WR to go with Theilen. IMO this will improve our offense a lot. Defensively, we lost a couple of really good names, but we address our entire defensive front outside of Brown. All of these additions are really good at stopping the run. Our Achilles heel. We've added some good DBs and add them with Horn we'll be strong on the backend. I also like that 3 defenders we added were players that formally Evero players. On paper IMO we look much better than 2023. At minimum our defense will be equal to 2023 and offensively we should be better now that the O-Line is greatly improved and Young shows us that the O-line, lack of weapons and terrible scheme was his issue not his talent.
  6. Here's why I believe it will be different. We've addressed the offensive line in a major way. We've added a WR that surely knows how to get open and give Young another target outside of Theilen. Defensively we've added several players that have played for Evero in the past so the learning curve for our defense won't be so bad. I just heard we have added 7 starters on defense. All equal or greater than the player they are replacing. None of these are extremely bad contracts where if they don't perform as we expect that we are in a major hole again. No GM hits on every free agent but I really like all of our signing and choose to be more optimistic than pessimistic.
  7. Actually I don't go to NBC Sports or any other NBC outlet because they are very bad at what they do.
  8. Not going to derail this post with my political views. Just pretty crappy reporting by NBC stating Clowney will be opposite Burns.
  9. I know he's there too but the three I listed come to 24 Million. Give or take a Million.
  10. You gotta believe Evero mind is spinning a mile a minute with the new talent we have brought to this team. I think he will get the most out of these players and our defense is going to be really good. I hope he has a great assist who will take over his reign when he gets promoted to HC.
  11. That's really shitty journalism. The trade happened, 2-3 weeks ago? and NBC still thinks Burns is here. NBC is bad on politics and apparently, they suck at sports too.
  12. It's hard to remain optimistic based on the last 5 years. Too many coaches and too many QBs. We let Burns go to NYG and freed up 24 million. With that 24 Million we addressed three positions on the defense. Jewell, Robinson and Clowney for basically the same price. So we gave up Burns, swapped 5ths and got pick 39 and 166 and Jewell, Robinson and Clowney. That IMO makes the Burns deal pretty damn good.
  13. How can you not get excited about what Morgan has done in the off-season? He's addressed almost every position of need with good players. He's added depth to some critical positions and studs in positions we were extremely weak on. I realize it is all on paper right now but I think our defense might be better than last year's team and the offense will be greatly improved as well.
  14. Maybe we are waiting to see what any of these UFL QBs have to offer. Remember we only have 2 QBs on the roster. Maybe one of these QBs would be good for a 3rd QB.
  15. This will be interesting. Always thought he wasn't given a real chance. I hope he performs well. Wouldn't be the first time an unknown QB comes from nowhere to have a career in the NFL.
  16. An 8 team league combined from the USFL and XFL. I was surprised to see that there were only 8 teams. I assume that they took the best teams based on attendance to create this new league. This is pretty much the minor leagues of football. Minor league is better than nothing. It will be interesting to see what players shine and get a chance to hook-up with an NFL team after the season is complete.
  17. We've spent 5 years of subpar football. We have a young GM and Coach both who seem to be on the same page. I get your pessimism but if our defense can keep it close. I think this year's offense is only going upwards. It will depend on Young.
  18. On this team he will be fed regularly. Outside of Theilen we didn't have any WRs that could consistently get open. What excites me the most is how he has been labeled as one of the best route runners in the league.
  19. If we were somehow able to land Gilmore and Clowney I think it would be extremely hard not to get excited about the upcoming season. Evero would have many players, not only in the starting lineup but in backup roles, that could make this defense an exciting unit. If our offense can put some points on the board, we could be a surprise team in 2024. Houston did it, why not us.
  20. Our offensive line has to be elite. I think Morgan has done a good job, at least on paper, of giving us a great offensive line. If our RBs can run through this line than it is going to make it much easier for Young to pass the ball when needed. I think D. Johnson is going to have a monster year with this offense. Even if we draft a rookie WR he will be the #1 target for Young. There are several additions to this team that could be busts or they could be great. This first group of free agents will define Morgan going forward. I have always been optimistic and believe most of these guys will perform well. We'll see but if we can put a competitive team on the field, regardless of our final record, I will be happy going forward.
  21. No, they just traded for Sam Howell to back up Geno.
  22. I was fooling around with an NFL Mock draft simulator and couldn't find anyone to trade their 1st round pick but since I was already there, I did a mock draft and traded down several times. The outcome was nice at least IMO. Check it Out
  23. I would definitely consider moving down a couple of spots for some extra draft capital. As many have said here before 33 usually grabs a 1st round graded player. If there was a team that thought this player could make an impact, they MIGHT come off of a 2025 1st. Agreed it is a long shot, but you never know how sold a GM is on a player and what they might give up to get him especially if they consider themselves a Super Bowl contender.
