  1. I don't know why there is so much hate for Canales. He's got the offense moving. We were the worst team in the NFL last year. We addressed the offense and have some quality talent. If we get a defense we'd be winning games. Whether you believe he's a QB whisperer or not is strictly a matter of opinion. Many of you want to point to other factors as to his success with QBs. I personally believe he helped Geno and Baker to fix parts of their game. Because he can't fix Young, I don't think anyone can, doesn't mean he doesn't know what he's doing.
  2. For me it would have to be a QB with all the right tools. I don't want a college winning QB but has questionable tools (ie Young). If not than we address the defense in a major way.
  3. Another bone headed move by Fitterer. Drafting Corral, who I admittedly liked, in round 3 and Howell dropped to the 5th round.
  4. Agreed but trading for was the question. I'd personally would rather draft one, if a good one fell to our pick. If not, it wouldn't kill us to give Fields a 1 year deal. I just think Howell is going to a starter in this league for someone in 2026. If we don't get one in the draft I'd push for Howell.
  5. In Fields 1st season he had 7 TDs and 11 ints with a QB rating of 73.2 and Howell was 21 and 21 which is 3x as many TDS but double the Ints with a QB rating of 78.9. Not to mention Howell almost had as many passing yards in 2023 (3946) than Fields had in 2 full seasons as a starter (4112) . While I agree 21 ints is excessive it doesn't mean a first year starter can't fix those issues. PEYTON MANNING had 28 ints in his first season as an NFL QB. Howell isn't as mobile but isn't a statue either. We don't need a running QB we need a QB that can make the throws and guide a team. IMO more of a Canales QB than Fields. If Daniels didn't fall into the Commanders lap than Howell is probably still their QB. Fields is going be benched for Wilson this weekend. It tells me Pittsburgh isn't happy with his performance. Lost QB job in Chicago and demoted in Pittsburgh. I'd rather give Howell a look before Fields.
  6. If we were to trade for a QB I'd rather trade for Sam Howell. He would be much better in Canales's offense than Fields. Fields didn't pan out in Chicago and doesn't look much better in Pittsburgh. Howell did OK on a terrible Commanders team.
  7. We definitely need 2 backs with Chubba being the #1 back. Brooks should take Sanders job and be that back that gives Chubba a break. Watching Sanders go out there pretty much guarantees that we are going to punt.
  8. This was my exact thought. Even in a different type of offense the lessons learned will pay off.
  9. Fair point but when your D-linemen are getting destroyed at least he's making the tackle.
  10. Yes. I would love to sign him long term and hopefully the front office is making a push to get it done before the trade deadline. However, if he's not willing to sign than it's stupid to keep him. It will force Moore, Legette, Coker and the other WRs to step up and make plays. We need to build through the draft and getting extra picks will help.
  11. I wasn't so much thinking about us. I am just surprised that 5 other team have 1 win.
  12. There were 6 teams with only one win 1/3 of the way into the season? What really sucks is that we pick 6th if the draft was held today.
  13. Yeah and that catch by Legette was amazing. I also liked the drive after they went up by 12. We answered and got it back to 5.
  14. So we lost another game which is no surprise but for he first time in a long time we were in the game until the interception. When we were done 22-10 Canales called some great plays and we got back in the game. We held Atlanta to 3 points and it looked like we were heading for a score to get us even. Almost doesn't mean much but I was happy to see us still in the game well into the 4th quarter.
  15. Way too soon to put a level on him. Walls and Olsen had experience before they arrived in Carolina. Sanders is a pup and he's shown great potential. Tremble can't seem to stay healthy enough to find his ceiling. Fitterer should have a CT Scan to see WTF he saw in Ian Thomas to give him an extension. He's slow and couldn't catch a cold.

  17. I like Sanders but I am not sure I want the headache that comes with Deion Sanders. There are several QBs in the 2025 draft class that might be a better fit but, it's too soon to start guessing.
  18. Agreed. This is why I am still on the Morgan bandwagon. Though each pick may not have been the best player available I believe each player has a huge upside. As XL gets more reps he is going to get better and better. That catch in the endzone was top level. Brooks was clearly picked for the future and not 2024. Wallace has been thrust into full time duties and though he has made mistakes I think he was a great 3rd pick and will be a mainstay in the coming years. And as you pointed out Sanders was supposed to get spot duties and sit back and learn. He wasn't expected to be our #1 option at TE. If it were up to me I. Thomas would never see the field again and just let Sanders learn by experience. Coker a UDFA, he may turn into AT replacement in the slot. He's got great hands and can get open. While 2024 season is so painful to watch I think slowly but surely we are heading in the right direction. 2025 off season we address the defense.
  19. Definitely. Our focus should be on getting these guys reps with a competent QB. I was a little down on Sanders because he seemed overwhelmed by position. I didn't realize he's on 21. However after watching Thomas look like a turtle running a route on that interception I'd rather see Sanders in there more often just to keep Thomas off the field. XL is showing growth and that TD should be a "GOT MOSSED" highlight. This shows there in potential. Coker was a good find and will continue to grow. I am hoping Brooks comes off the IR and gets some snaps. All of this goes to waste if we put Young in there. We need to suck it up and admit it was a terrible pick and move on. Trade him and let him restart somewhere else. Young's happy feet will hinder the growth of the rest of the offense.
  20. Canales is a good young coach and offensively we moved the ball with Dalton at the helm. I can't remember when our defense has been so decimated by injury. We're playing with rookies, backups and practice squad players. Injuries are not the coaches or GMs fault. Canales will grow as a head coach. We don't have the talent to be a contender. If this team was loaded with talent on both sides of the ball than I would be concerned. We built a nice offensive line. Hopefully, DB comes back healthy and we draft studs and sign a top tier edge rusher in 2025 and fix the defense. I don't think you can blame Canales for the lack of talent. We're going to have to give him a couple of years. I like him and believe once we have a competitive squad he'll prove he's worthy of the position.
  21. You have just been hired to be the GM. You have a new owner and have been given full control of the roster. What is your plan, who do you keep, who to you trade? For me. (Disclaimer I am not the expert some of you think that you are, and this is my opinion) Coaches Dave Canales has a plan, and I will give him the time to implement it. it's going to take a couple of years to see it through. Defensive Coordinator Evero is in a tough spot. He doesn't have the talent to run a competitive defense. The focus will be getting him players so he can run his defense. The O-line is our strength, which is very laughable since last year it was our weakness. I'd try to keep all 5 together, You have some decent back-ups in Zavala and Christensen and a future center in Rahm. QB I would try to keep Dalton for another season and look for one in the draft. Maybe look for a QB that needs a fresh start somewhere else as a backup and let Canales work his magic with him. Tight End Sanders is a rookie and playing like one but should develop into a good TE. Tremble is adequate for now. The remaining TEs I would clear out especially Thomas WR I would try to sign Jonnson to an extension by the trade deadline. If I cannot get a deal done than I look for a trade for him. I wouldn't take anything lower than a 2nd. He's shown he can be a very valuable WR. It would put stress on the WR room but I would learn quickly who is going to fight to be the next top target for our QB. We have Theilen for one more season, XL has shown flashes and Coker when given the chance seems to be keeper. MIngo and the other WRs are going to have to prove they are NFL WRs if we trade Johnson away. RB. I would release Sanders before the ink was dry on my contract. He's a waste of a roster spot. Hubbard would be my #1 back, Brooks would replace Sanders in the backup role for the remainder of 2024. Get him a couple of carries per game so 2025 he has some experience. Even fully healed I would not put him as the lead back. Defensively we are a mess. We signed players that may never see the field this season and so many of our good players are on IR. Brown and Horn are about the only two veterans that are elite. Defensive Line I would keep all current players under contract. This should be our No. 1 target if we aren't going to go for a QB in 2025. In fact, I would take a DE only if he is a Hutchinson/Watt type DE LB I would let Shaq finish the year out and move on. Jewell is under contract for a couple of seasons and is serviceable. Wallace is raw and IMO needs playing time to get better. I think he was a good pick and will pay dividends as he matures. CB Horn is playing well and as of this writing he isn't injured. He would be another player I would consider for a trade if we get GREAT compensation for, otherwise I would extend him. Jackson IMO will be better if we can get some sort of a pass rush. Safety Woods and Franklin are our best players but Franklin is on IR. 2024 Trade Deadline. There are two players IMO that could give us draft capital to rebuild the Panthers. Johnson and Horn. Johnson will only net us a 2nd or a 3rd because most teams know he probably isn't going to stay and can just wait to sign him in 2025. Our only hope is that Johnson is the final piece for a playoff push for another team. As GM I would make a trade if we get a 2nd or 3rd for him. Horn on the other hand would give a team this year and next to work out a deal and we could get some nice draft capital for him. Minimum one 1st and one 2nd. 2025 offseason This really depends on what you plan to do with Young. I would start him the final 6 games and see if he has learned anything from being behind Dalton. If he flounders in the final 6 games than I would trade him for whatever I could get. I would try not to create anymore dead cap space for this team. Those that are on the team and have one year left they would be Panthers in 2025. 2025 we might be more competitive but most likely not a playoff team. Creating more dead cap space doesn't help. My focus would be QB and DE as my top two priorities going into the draft. My free agents would be limited fill only holes that require a glaring need of depth or a starter. I would try to have as much cap space as I could for 2026. 2025 Draft My draft is based on we were successful in trading Horn for a 1st and a 2nd and Johnson for a 2nd. In round one I would take DE and QB. Round 2 thru 4 would be defensive players unless someone on offense we rated high dropped. 5 thru 7 would be BPA OUTLOOK As GM I know it is going to take more than 2025 to fix all our issues. But to put us in the right direction I don't go crazy on Free Agents trying to get us into the playoffs when most likely we aren't going to be there. WHAT'S YOUR PLAN
  22. I think Morgan is doing well. He knew we couldn't fix everything at once. Draft for the future. XL, Sanders, Wallace are all very raw but with huge upsides. 2024 isn't about being superstars, it should be about learning how to play in the NFL. Rahm and Coker seem to be good UDFAs. The injuries to a weak roster have made us worse than even the worst critic of the Panthers could imagine.
  23. Coker would do the same thing.
  24. Coker lead the team in receiving and didn't come in until XL got hurt.
  25. I thought we signed a bunch of run stopping D-linemen. WTF
