IMO Rhule and Co. were going with their hearts in this last preseason game. I am hoping starting this week we put the best 5 out there. Move Moton to the LT, Daley beside him, Paradis (maybel Elflien)Brown and Christensen is who I would begin the week with.

Deshaun maybe to the PANTHERS?!?! What?!!
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Vader704's topic in Carolina Panthers
Absolutely, If he legal woos put him in jail all bets are off. -
I'm sticking with Jansen because we need continuity more than youth with our new kicker. Secondly, He solid and let's face it. It's not like he has to make the tackle on the punt team. If we are relying on him for the tackle on the punt team we're screwed. 35 is not old for a LS. If we can't trade Fletcher than make him one of our PS players. We get 16.

Terrace Marshall Jr. is leading the NFL
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was a bit concerned that they were going to bring him along slowly but after watching him with the starters yesterday. He is going to be a beast his rookie year. I think he is benefitting from being with Brady before. Brady knows what he can do. He, IMO, is the best pick of the draft. -
Good god guys. Madden sucked when he first started doing commentary. (go watch A Football Life John Madden) I love his takes and he says some funny things which makes it enjoyable. Give him a chance to grow into this position. He has the gametime mentality and I for one is glad he points out gaffs and mistakes.

So... Sam Darnold. Are you encouraged or discouraged
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was only able to watch the highlights on Youtube. They showed a quite a few of Darnold getting pressusre. It's hard to agree with antsy. He's stepping up, moving around and trying to find a target downfield before taking a sack or making a bad throw. (highlights showed one) Good coverage? Poor routes? Missed assignments? I don't know. We have to figure this line out. What I did like is that he used all his weapons, Arnold, Hubbard, Marshall, DJ and Anderson. I know this thread is on Darnold but DAMN Marshall is going to have a monster rookie year. -

Worst Panther coach/player of all time
DaveThePanther2008 replied to panther4life's topic in Carolina Panthers
Gotta argue on Henning. He was the sole reason why we came back in the Cheatriot Super Bowl in 2003. Had he not altered our game plan we would have been destroyed. I'll give you are real OC that was a piece of crap. Jeff Davidson OC 2010 Worst Player Haruki Nakmura -
Matt Rhule's QBs troughout his coaching career
DaveThePanther2008 replied to JABANOG's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lame, really Lame. College replace coaches because their current team sucks. Top level HS QBs aren't going to go to a program that doesn't give them the best opportunity to succeed. The rare exception is a hometown star that wants to play locally. To Rhule's credit he built both programs from the ground up. 2020 was Brady if you ask me. I think he wanted Bridgewater since he had some success with him in New Orleans. Made sense. Darnold was Rhule and Fitterer. So we'll see. What really chaps my ass is the multitude of posters, like you, that want to just post negative threads. It's one thing to post a negative thread with valid points but to reach on a topic like this one is very lame. If you don't like the Panther's good or bad. Go join another fan base and spread your hate there. -
I think he has a great offensive mind but was handcuffeed by his own design. He was the one that promoted signing Bridgewater. I think this season he'll have everything he needs to show he's the man. I cannot see how he can't be successful with the weapons he has. If Darnold execute the offense and limits his mistakes. He'll be a top candidate for the next HC. That said, if Brady does well. What's next. I would hope we have someone in the pipeline that can utilize the same system that works well with Brady.

Offensive Philosophy: The Tortoise vs The Hare
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was thinking the same thing. Brees was a master at this. Kill us underneath and than strike deep. How many times did we have open receivers downfield but TB5 would take the short throw or underthrow the deep ball. I'm excited to see how we play when we actually game plan and utilize the entire playbook. Preseason is boring and fans get worked up because it looks like the actual Rivera playbook in the regular sesaon. -
I get the part where we shouldn't be too excited over players in preseason. After all A. Edwards was the MVP of training camp at least once. IMO, What the difference is consistency. It's Horn being on someone like a blanket all the tiime, Marshall making contested catches time after time. Christensen improving leaps and bounds from the beinging of training camp until now. Tremble making catches when his question mark was whether he could catch. Smith showing the same skills as Marshall. Nixon, Taylor and the other lower round picks showing they have the talent to play. Hurney and G-man had a nice pick here and there and some would show a flash that would pump you up. It just seems to me that these guys are legit and will contibute to this team. The FAs are IMO not as exciting, at least on the offensive side. Arnold was hyped up in practice but I haven't heard much about him during preseason. Unless of course he is considered a starter and Rhule didn't play him. I do believe he and Darnold are going to have a good season. Erving and Elfein haven't really grabbed rolls that we all figured were written in stone. Perryman was a disaster, Reddick was a great pick for the defense and Luvu may help elivate the loss of Perryman. I do like that Fitterer doesn't just say F It and let players go to waiver wire without trying to get something for it. I can't remember when Hurney or Gettleman every traded a player we were probably going to cut and get something for him. There isn't a GM in football that hasn't made a bad decision on a player. Overall, Fitterer is doing an amazing job and He is going to build a championship caliber team. When you add talent through the draft like we have these last two drafts (2020 was more Rhule than Hurney) you have alot of super talent under rookie contracts. This gives us more money to fill those spots we need now through free agency. I also like that he and Rhule seem to have a good level of communication. Something I don't think our GM has ever had with the HC.
-
After the Indy game, Rhule said ,when asked about Hoskin, that he had a long way to go. So despite his success against 2nd and 3rd team offenses. He has a way to go to be ready to face 1st teamers.
-
We're only 5 days from having to be down to our final 53. I am going to guess we'll keep 50 or 51 of the current 80. With the trade of Perryman our depth at LB spot just got razor thin and I wouldn't be surprised if we sign one or two from team cuts. I also think that, depending on who is available, we'll sign a LT. IMO it will be an aging vet that we might get some use out of until someone is ready to take over the LT spot permanently. I think of the 11 draft picks. Fletcher and Hoskins are destine for the PS. There is no way Smith or Nixon stick on the PS. Some team will nab them.
-
I was all for PJ taking TB5 place last year because he brought energy and a flash to our offense. If PJ were to take Darnold's spot we better put our best pass radius receivers on the field. His accuracy is not very good. If there were a true competition at QB this year. IMO it would be Grier and that's a stretch. Darnold may or may not pan out. Neither Grier or PJ are the answer behind him. I wonder what the writer is going to say when we stash the competition on the PS.

PFFs top graded preseason rookie wideouts.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Marshall is my top rookie of our class. I love Horn and think he'll be Pro Bowl caliber DB. I think you are spot on about Marshall getting more TDs. Defenses do not want Anderson to take the top off their defense. Moore and Anderson will command double teaming. With the threat of CMC out of the backfield, I think TEs and Marshall from the slot are going to have a field day against opponents. In other words, Marshall will be the benefactor of great players around him. -
That's cause you have nothing to come back with. Fact is Fact. You can't refute actual evidence when it's on tape. Have a good day.
-
Everything I have read and heard about him is his motor is non-stop. They say not too many on the team can keep up with him. Another Jet castoff. I would love to see him on the 53 and playing in some defensive packages. We need guys like him. "He's always around the ball"
-
Definitely should be on our watch list.
-
As long as he isn't a O-lineman from Ole Miss. Still gun shy over that last one.

You're more worried about splash plays than being smart. With an actual game plan I have more confidence that Grier can execute it better than Walker. I was fortunate to be able to watch the game again yesterday on AFN. Grier looked solid and only missed one throw which was deemed a miscommunication (which happens in Preseason often). One play in particular that both QBs used was the deep pass on the right side. Grier hit Marshall in stride for a huge gain while Walker misfired on a pass to Shi Smith (who made an amazing catch out of bounds). Same exact play. Grier was on target while Walker threw it behind and out of bounds. Similar pressure from the defense and the QB released the ball unhindered by the rush. Grier on target, Walker Misfire. Grier should have looked better than Walker because the 2s are much better than the 3s. Comparing Walker (against the Colts) and Grier (against the Ravens) with the 2nd team offense you can see Grier looked more in control and not ready to abandon the pocket so quickly. While it is exciting to see him make plays with his feet the accuracy is scary.

In Quatrain 943 (the lost Quartain) Nostradamus says In the land of snowflacks and actors a black cat with multiple fangs (CMC, Moore, Burns and Chinn) will trounce and devour a feather headed monster that runs erratically and delivers darts all over a rectangular field. The carnage will be witnessed by 100,000 rabid animals and millions more will witness through signals out of the air.
