@JawnyBlaze Posted a good video analysis on B. Young. I think those that pass on him are going to regret it. His size is questionable but, I don't think it is going to change his production. If you forced me to take a QB today. I would have to say Young is at the top. It's a huge gamble but his upside is pretty impressive.

@Mr. Scot check this out
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I haven't dwelled into the potential head coaches but this guy is probably at the top of everyone's list. Tepper better open his freaking checkbook to get him. Philly did a great job in the draft last year got some studs that are under contract as rookies for the next couple of years. Hurts looks really good considering how he was a couple of years ago. I agree, with you he calls a good game. -
I can see a new HC wanting one of these QBs. I believe that whoever comes into the QB is going to have to compete with Corral for the position. Regardless of draft position. I would assume we are also going to have a veteran in the mix as well. It's a huge gamble that could be quite embarrassing if we use a 1st round pick on a QB and he can't beat Corral in a competition. So many want to believe that it's going to be automatically the rookies job just because he was drafted higher than Corral.

The realism is Corral got injured on a freak play. The realism is Rhule didn't give him any quality reps. The realism is draft position means nothing after you've been drafted. The realism is you have no idea what the new coaching staff sees in Corral. The realism is that Corral has all the tools to be a good QB and just needs quality Reps to prove it. The Hating is that many of you want one of these QBs in this draft and nothing short of it is acceptable. The haters cannot and will not believe Corral could be as good, if not better than those in this draft class. The haters believe he has no shot whatsoever. I've said before, We'll have to wait and see what we do in April. If we go QB that's OK with me, if we trade down and get an extra pick somewhere that's ok too. Maybe we use our first pick on a different position of need. (this will get you haters in meltdown mode) and use one of our 2nd round picks for a QB to compete with Corral. The difference between you and me is Corral was chosen by Fitterer not Rhule and that the talent is there, and the value was there too. Corral has all the tools. BTW, had it not been for his unsubstantiated claims of off the field issues he would have been a much higher pick. Also, there were several talking heads including former QBs that had Corral as the best QB in his class. Arguing with you over this isn't worth my time because you want what you want and to hell with what's best for the team. For you it is QB only with the first pick, while I am open to different avenues to get a better team on the field NOW.

Good analysis on Bryce Young vs LSU
DaveThePanther2008 replied to JawnyBlaze's topic in Carolina Panthers
Good Video. Makes me more comfortable about Young. You can have all the tools, ie J. Russell, but if you can't process the field and make the correct decision, you'll never make it in the NFL. I'd rather have a 6 foot QB that can process than a 6"4" physical specimen but can't read the field.- 32 replies

Biggest blunders of the NFL season
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I never understood the decision to keep him. 99% of us were sure that he was going to be fired before the end of the season and we were right. I think more than anything Tepper's ego prevented him from firing him after year two. -
Hype is what destroys a class. I think some front offices get caught up in the hype as well. You here these talking heads going round and round about how great this or that QB is, and owners buying into it and gets the GM to select him. IMO. if you do your homework, you'll find the right QB, regardless, of draft position. I have my opinions about Stroud, Young and the rest of the class. But to be honest, I'm not an expert and hopefully Fitterer does his homework and if we select a QB I'll be onboard with whoever we choose. Corral, IMO, was a Fitterer choice. Obviously, it wasn't Rhule who chose him and he definitely wasn't going to groom him. The biggest decision Fitterer has to make is, are any of these QBs in this class leaps and bounds better than Corral. I know the haters are already itching to reply that he sucks. I take them with a grain of salt because they have no idea one way or the other. I am sure that they'll consider it greatly when a player we really need is on the board at our pick. His injury, from what I have heard, was a freak accident caused by a terrible offensive line made up of a bunch of players trying to keep their dream alive. Our beloved Corral haters will say "he looked horrible in preseason". Fitterer knows the situation and will make the right call. Just be prepared for a meltdown if we go in a different direction than QB. It will be epic.

Gotta know the rules. If Baltimore tags him, we can offer him a contract and if he accepts than Baltimore either has to match it or we give up only 2 first for him. That's what makes it a good deal. We don't have to give up more than 2 first. Watson was under contract Jackson won't be. It's been that way for years.
-
Watching the game, the other night they mentioned Jackson wanted a fully guaranteed contract. Jackson said he wanted to remain a Raven, but Baltimore is flinching at a fully guaranteed contract. So, they Tag him this offseason. Do you bite? Do you trade 2 firsts for him and fully guarantee his contract or PASS?

Haven't we learned our lesson on former 1st round picks that seem lost. Let's pass, OK. -
Brugler: Next year's quarterbacks "not universally loved"
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I said in another post that if we are top 5 and don't really like any of the QBs. Trade down, snag an extra 1st next year and take BPA at our new spot. Use one of the 2nd round picks that we have on a QB that can compete with Corral. If they both play well in preseason maybe, we have trade bait. -
13/28 164 1 int. 46% completion. He ran the ball as many times as he had completions. He was thinking he was in college again. Lance will be a bust.

Justin Fields 61 yard rushing touchdown
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
With at top 5 pick you damn sure better believe he's the answer. You pass on a generational talent at another position and you bomb with a pick from one to five, as a GM you and your HC aren't going to be around long. -
Well everyone should just STFU I guess now that the all mighty Growl has made this statement. There isn't a single franchise QB in this draft and if we draft one he'll have to compete with Corral and whoever else is on this roster. Just because he's the 1st round pick doesn't always make him "the Man". T. Lance showed that this season. He sat all last season and was supposed to be the man but he was abysmal before he got hurt. SF lucked out that Jimmy G was still around.

DaveThePanther2008 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
OK, Mel Kiper. Anyone that bases Corral performance during the preseason as a precursor to how well he can play doesn't know much about football. Any reasonable fan would know that Rhule wasn't going to give him a chance to play. He saddled his horse on Mayfield and Darnold and that was it. If you don't know that it kind of shows you're here just to Troll as I noted before. -
So, drafting on in the first round will change that?

Justin Fields 61 yard rushing touchdown
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Based on what? A training camp where he was ignored. You know nothing about this situation other than the desire to select another QB that may or may not be any better. -
Justin Fields 61 yard rushing touchdown
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
You don't waste a top 5 pick on a QB that MIGHT be the answer. You have to be 100% sure that he is going to be the answer. We already have a QB that might be the answer on the roster. Rhule kind of screwed us by not giving Corral Reps with the 1st string offense during camp, so now we are stuck with an unknown. I'd rather take another position of need than to reach. Stroud doesn't impress me. He looked terrible against a team they should have blown out. I know the wind was a factor, but he wasn't good at all. IMO. Young, is a very intriguing prospect but he also has major issue that he will face in the NFL. It's going to come down to Fitterer and our staff as to whether any of them have a much greater upside than Corral. If we pass on a QB in round 1 they may be able to wait until the early 2nd and still get a QB that has skills to play in the NFL. I don't think it is a bad idea to trade down, get 2 first for our pick. One in 23 and one in 24 and if Corral doesn't pan out, we can package those to picks to get a better QB prospect in 2024. I, nor anyone here, is a professional scout and can say one way or the other how good a QB is in this draft. I have my opinion but that's just my opinion. If we end up choosing a QB (Stroud, Young or any of these QBs) I will be onboard with that decision. I just believe going into the 1st round with our only focus on a QB only is a mistake. We shouldn't draft one just because we need one when their skillset might not translate to the NFL. We'll see. -
What will be worse is, Tepper turns around and hires McCarthy. I would hate that move.

Pretty shallow minded thinking but it doesn't surprise me. And you're wrong. -
OP must be a former Saints fan. No matter what I would never stoop to the lowness of putting a bag on my head just to show displeasure. We've got talent on this team we just need to settle the QB position.

So basically, if you don't believe the QBs in this draft are worthy of a 1st round pick they are mouthbreathers? What makes you the expert on QBs? -
I found this. Looks like we are going to give Sam a chance to play too.
