Here's my issue with Lamar. They guy wants a ton of money. Most of these QBs that demand so much money end up hurting the team. They have so much money tied up in one player that you end up skimping on other positions. I love Lamar but what he wants in a contract is too rich for me.

Ok I got Philly. Philly has the best offensive line in the game. Their defense is top tier too. KC is limited with their WRs and Slay and Bradberry will shut them down so the load will be on Kelce. I think Philly mans up the WR and limit Kelce. Mahomes is dangerous but will not be 100% and he'll struggle against Philly's defense. Hurts, though somewhat injured, has many weapons at his disposal and can also run. I think Philly wins a close one. 27-24. All I know for certain is Kelce will win a ring.

Someone has been betting...lol. I saw this the other day and these were the most popular betting items.

He's still young and played much better at the end of the season outside of the New Orleans game. If I were the GM, I wouldn't trade our pick and if one of the QBs land in our lap I would take him. Most mocks I have seen has one of the top four QBs fall to us. I would select that QB and go into camp with Darnold, Corral and the rookie. All of them on an equal plateau. No one really slotted above the other. Let them battle it out. Darnold, IMO, would have the upper hand because he has the experience. Reich and McCown would have their hands full with improving Darnold and developing Corral and the rookie. It would be a huge upgrade over the QB room we had last year. I think Darnold could be had at a very decent price. Going after another Vet might just cost us more and take away from other positions that we might try to upgrade.

There is as much tape on Corral as there are on any QBs in this draft. I don't know what the rules are about a coach getting with a player on their own time but Corral has been out of his boot for well over 3 months now and should be able to start throwing and working on his craft. Should Corral and McCown get the opportunity to work some it will greatly help in the decision on whether we HAVE to draft a QB or COULD draft a QB.

Purely Coincidental. I seriously doubt that Carolina used that as some sort of enticement for Reich. His daughter just got a position on her own. We'll leave it at that, and you can keep your conspiracy theory.
-
Complete arrogance on Rhule's behalf. How could anyone think a bunch of nobodies is going to compete with coaches with all their experience. It showed in every game. None of our coaches had any idea on how to adjust what other teams were doing. Starting with Rhule on down.

His daughter lives in the Carolinas and applied for a job in marketing. She's been around football all her life and applied to the local team for a position. As a hiring manager it would make sense to hire someone that has an understanding of what football is. Why is it so hard to believe she couldn't get a job on her own. PURELY COINCIDENTAL.

Panthers hire Josh McCown as QB coach
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Would you be content with Darnold, Corral and our freshly drafted rookie going into camp? Honestly, I wouldn't have an issue with it. -
lol Not the only one.
-
Reich's daughter had zero to do with his hiring and it was purely coincidental that she was hired a week before her dad was. Eason is practice squad material and that's it. He's nowhere near the talent Corral is. He's been cut by the Colts and Seahawks and has been on and off our practice squad. At the time of his signing, we had one QB on the Roster, Corral. So, they resigned him to play along until we get our rookie and once a Vet is signed don't be surprised if we cut him again. Nothing more than fodder.

Panthers hire Josh McCown as QB coach

I bet the confetti will still be falling and we offer Brian Johnson the OC Job. -
Agreed, IF Evero was hired as a HC. Capers could move to DC or he could as you say stay as an assistant. If Capers were to be promoted to DC the chances of him jumping to a HC position is highly unlikely. He could end up as our DC for several years and continue to develop his tree.
-
Great idea. If Fitterer goes all out for this guy when FA starts don't be surprised if Burns gets moved.
-
Your theory about Eason goes out the window because he was signed to a reserve contract three days prior to Frank Reich being named head coach. There is no way Eason is going to go into camp ahead of Corral. Eason, at best, is camp fodder. Corral has many good traits for an NFL QB. If there is one coach that can bring out the best in him, it's Reich. Corral may be a dark horse heading into Camp behind a Rookie and a Vet but that doesn't mean he's complete out of the picture.

This is probably the only scenario that Carolina gets the #1 pick. Chicago wants either Anderson or Carter and will only trade down low enough to get one or the other. They aren't going to risk losing out on these players going down to anything below #4. Now if Burns would be offered than that satisfies the need and would allow Chicago to go down to #9. That said, Burns is worth two first rounders PERIOD. I would not give any more #1s on top of it and nothing more than day 3 picks. They want Burns as bad as we want our choice of QB. You would be able to use our 2nd round pick (39) to address the HUGE HOLE we just opened up on our D-Line.

I know many of us oldtimers that actually remember when Capers was here. The Panthers had an amazing defense and though Capers was the HC and not the DC, the defense was clearly his. Salt and Pepper, Mills and many other great names in Panther lore. What I truly love about this hire, is who will be here when Evero gets his first HC gig? We have the man that Mentored him. It is like our backup DC. When he goes don't be surprised to see him elevated to DC. This time he won't be grabbing a HC spot but remain our DC until he retires.
-
You trying to get banned? How could you post something that points to Corral being a good QB. That's blasphemous to our Draft experts that insist these QBs are leaps and bounds better than Corral. Come On Man.
-
We have a good defense and anytime you can put a quality defense on the field you have a good chance of making the playoffs. That said, Reich has to be 100% certain he can get our rookie to win games in his first season. We all know that isn't an easy task. I think 2023 QB situation is not going to end well regardless of who we draft and when. I just don't see one of these rookies or a career backup coming in and being a difference maker. I hope I am wrong but I'm not betting the store.

Not that the Senior bowl is guage but he was noted for having a good Senior Bowl run. Duggan is one of those guys that is going to fall in the 2nd round and end up being a steal. He just gives me that winner's mentality that some show and some don't.
-
The one article I read had him at #10. Two solid seasons at Houston. It's interesting to me what Reich sees in the upcoming prospects. Is there a QB that is being overlooked because he come from a small school or had a bad record last year.
-
So the Raiders cut him. What if any, do they owe him. What is the cap implication for them?
-
Good point but this could be the third time just because of who needs QBs. I was expecting Brady to go to LV but when he retired that put LV on the radar for a QB too.
