Viking article predicting big drop off for Thielen
DaveThePanther2008 replied to panthers55's topic in Carolina Panthers
One thing I think many haven't said about him is. What he means to the group. His leadership in helping the young wide receivers run proper routes will be invaluable. Adam is a fantastic route runner and is a clutch receiver. The philosophy of spreading the ball around will give him plenty of one on one opportunities and I believe he will have solid numbers this season. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a favorite target for Young. -
Agreed. I have always been optimistic about our coming season, even under Fhule, hoping that the coming season will be different than the previous. Only to realize it is the SOS. I don't think someone is going to say they are going to expand the playbook to put fear into other teams, to boost his confidence or to give the fans hope that they picked the right guy. They said it because he's grasping the scheme and is showing he can handle more. I think we should look at him as a Luke Kuechly on offense. Someone who really dives into the playbook and the scheme we are running. Someone who focuses on every detail. This isn't a bad thing. Because we might expand the playbook doesn't mean he's never going to make a mistake. The one thing I bet he will do. Is never make the same mistake twice like Darnold used to. I'm optimistic as hell and believe he is going to good. I also expect mistakes. Super excited for the next 5 weeks to be over.

I love Diggs but he's a Primadona and we really don't need that with Young. Reich wants to spread the ball around to make defenses cover everyone. Diggs will demand the ball more and mess that system up. I am anxious to see our WR corps perform.

Add a little Braveheart face paint and they'll never come back.

Theilen is an excellent route runner and his input to these young players should not go unnoticed. Even if Theilen has pedestrian numbers his value to the locker room will be worth every penny we pay him.

Before you know it, you will be chasing the boys away with a baseball bat. Happy Father's Day

I know Miller is a great talent but recently I read where there are some issues with his game translating to the NBA. I hope we take Scoot. Here's a question for you diehard Hornet fans. Do you take Scoot and package Melo in a trade? Revamp the whole team based around Scoot. I like Melo but I get this feeling that when his time is up here, he is going to want out of Charlotte. Thoughts
-
Absolutely. If you remember N.O. was being sold and they were having a hard time finding a buyer. April of that Year Benson bought the franchise, and I can almost guarantee part of the deal was they got the first pick. It was Charlotte's pick but it wasn't happening. I wasn't surprised to see Wemby going to SA. They weren't going to risk the future star of this league with a broken franchise like the Hornets. Send him to the best place for big man. It was a no brainer. The NBA makes is seem like the draft is legitimate, but the draw is rigged and always will be. You'll see when one season the entire draft class is weak. Charlotte will get the top pick. Not until then will the Hornets pick No. 1.

Yeah, I think kickers were getting good a placing the ball at the 1 or 2 yard line and forcing teams to run it out. They get stopped inside the 20 and it pissed Roger G off so now we have this garbage.

I wasn't implying week 1 but, if Corral showed good command of the offense, why not? You're going with a rookie anyhow and he is going to have a learning curve. That said I don't believe they would. It's possible that by mid-season Corral could be #2.

Panthers WR group "Under Construction"
DaveThePanther2008 replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am hoping one of these guys comes out with that "It's my ball" mentality. We need someone who Young can take a risk with and know that WR is going to fight for the ball. That was one of my favorite things about Moore. He fought for the ball. Obviously, we were spoiled with the greatest fighter ever in S. Smith. -
What's to say that he doesn't do well enough to beat out Dalton for the #2 spot. Dalton is going to get his money regardless. I think he'll be here for the 2 years on his contract. There is nothing wrong with him mentoring both Young and Corral. I believe Young is going to be awesome, but I am worried about his ability to stay healthy. He has, or as they have said, great presence in the pocket but what happens when some LB destroys him. Will he get up or end up injured for a week or two. Can he withstand a 17-game schedule without getting hurt? If Corral, shows he can manage this team it only helps us. I think I'd rather have a young QB than Dalton. I would not be surprised if by the end of the season Corral is #2.
-
This is the proper thinking. Corral has many tools that could help him succeed in this league. Rhule did us no favors last year by ignoring his chance and put him on the field without much opportunity for success. My hope is that he earns a spot on this team and becomes a viable backup to Young. We hope Young never gets hurt but he's not invincible to injury. It will be nice to know if something did happen to Young we aren't scrambling again for a QB. Many of you know I have been a supporter of Corral. My reasoning is I believe he has all the tools to be successful in the NFL. I believe with proper coaching he'll be a solid backup and as you said hopefully good enough that when the time comes, we can get some value out of him.

Panthers signing XFL superstar DT

Rhule is the ONLY reason he was on the Panthers. Walker had a couple of nice moments but should have stayed in the XFL. -
Panthers mini camp (Saturday)

I hope be backs it up. You gotta love the fire. Nothing better than a real chip on ths shoulder. Go Panthers -
They aren't part of the staff I agree. I have watched several of Steve's takes on WR and if he were asked I believe they would listen. Steve is a hellava analyst when it comes to WR.

We actually will probably have a great turn out of German fans. I know Carolina has invested quite a bit to build up our fan base in Germany.
-
I work overseas and am planning on attending this game. I would love to go and see our Panthers in Germany. I love going to the Panthers home games, but this might just top them all. Especially if it is in October during Octoberfest. I will be keeping an eye on the Roaring Riot about tickets, if they can get them.

The Anti-tankers…. Never forget!!!!
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am very strongly opposed to tanking and have bounced back and forth with several huddlers that seem to want to tank at midseason. It sends a terrible message to your players and players that may eventually consider coming to Carolina. That said, once we were eliminated from contention, I don't think doing this is tanking. You are evaluating players that could be on the squad 2023. You are still trying to win but giving players who might have a future in this league a chance to play. Unfortunately for us. Wilks was fighting for his interim position and sent our best out there. It truly was one of the worst games I have ever seen. Seemed both teams couldn't get out of their own way. Thankfully, as you pointed out. It didn't cost us draft positon. Carolina mustered up enough to get close enough to kick the game winning FG. -
I was watching the 100 greatest game enders on youtube via NFL Network and this was one of them.
-
I was watching YouTube and one of the videos I saw made a great point. Pittsburgh and Cincinnati drafted a QB and a WR to grow together. We have Young and Mingo. If they build a chemistry together they could be our dynamic Duo. I like the mix in the WR room. Some solid vets and some younger players that are finally going to break out of the shadows of the Fhule regime.

Carolina Panthers Draft Grade
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
BTW Mingo fights like a MOFO for the ball. He may not be as fast but S. Smith and DJ Moore had that same dog in them. It will be nice to have a 6'2" Smitty. lol
