I sure the hell hope so. Other teams are signing their players they want to keep, and we haven't heard a peep out of our front office. It is starting to feel like all our free agents are looking to get the hell out of Carolina. Looks like 2024 is going to be a rough year.

My reason, beyond the draft picks, that makes we want to get him traded. Evero seems to really know how to make the most out of what we have. I think we could find a FA that could fill the roll for a year or two while we build a new team. Evero will make the adjustment. Keeping Burns, though he is a very talented player, doesn't really help us move past the Rhule/Reich mess we have had. I think our best interest is signing and trading him or let someone offer him a deal through the NE franchise tag.

Definitely. I do think we need to get Derrick Brown signed before we deal with Burns. If we can somehow get an extension done with Brown, we now have more bargaining power with Burns. By signing Brown, we have control of Burns for the next 2 seasons.

I don't think he is as mediocre as many say on here, but I also don't believe he's a top-tier DE. He's worth keeping but not with an elite contract. The non-exclusive tag will show what other teams think he is worth. If no one is willing to give up draft picks for him than he and his agent will have to come down off the elite number. Maybe the best way to go about it is a reasonable contract with incentives that boost the salary. It motivates him to play hard and reach those milestones to get more money.

The non-exclusive tag gives Morgan the bargaining power if another team doesn't offer him a deal. We're able to get him at a better deal than he's asking for. His agent IMO is the driving force behind the top dollar deal he wants. If his agent is so damn good he should be able negotiate a deal with another team and get him what he wants.

Panthers Mock Offseason 2024
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Jay Roosevelt's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree, but sadly we only have two picks on day two. I guess it would have to be BPA between these three groups (OL,WR,TE) or BPA on a player that dropped well below his initial grade. -
Panthers Mock Offseason 2024

If he lasts that long I would jump on it very quickly. His combine workout was stellar and some of the clips they showed he is extremely quick through traffic to make the tackle. I love this pic. -
You would think Atlanta would have been paying attention to what we did the last couple of years. We went after retread after retread only to find out they weren't worth a damn. Fields is going to have to have a specific type of offense for him to thrive or a HC like Canales. NOT SAYING WE SHOULD SIGN HIM.

And whoever added the extra BS on my post is wrong. There are several posts on this board that post links to articles that are far more misleading than this one, which I don't believe mine was, but don't get the extra crap added to their posts. Maybe you should monitor all posts before they can be entered into the forum. You know censorship is such a great way to manage a forum. I could careless about clicks.

Franchise Tag Deadline: March 5th at 4PM ET.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
If Morgan doesn't go this way than he's probably not going to be much better than Fitterer. The non-exclusive tag allows Burns to test the market. If he gets his deal than we get 2 picks. If no one offers him what he is asking for than Morgan is in the driver's seat on a fair market offer. Makes no sense to Franchise Tag him and pay him more than what we think he's worth. -
"Near certainty" Burns will be tagged
DaveThePanther2008 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I sure wish we'd use the non-exclusive tag on him. It would give us better bargaining power when no one offers him the money he's asking for. -
If we could get an additional pick this year and a 1st next year. I would jump at it. While the Lions will probably be in the playoffs next year making that pick a low first rounder. It would give us bargaining power if we needed to move up in the first round for an impact player.

Very enticing but if he isn't a precise route runner than speed only matters on Go routes. I would prefer a good route runner with speed than just a speed demon. So can anyone tell me if he is a good route runner?

Well before crying about it not being a Panther topic. Please go through the menu and you'll see several topics that aren't Panther related. The best way to go about you day if you don't like the topic is STFU and go about your day. When the moderators tell us ONLY Panther topics than I conform as I have for the past 20 years on this forum. Wiping away history is the best thing you can do, right? It's funny that removing Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima and others classic brands for the sake of wokeness now we only have white people on our brands. Kind of backwards. Exactly If reading comprehension is a problem, please see someone. If you can read. I said They might be reverting back to the Redskins. Key word being MIGHT. As far as whether they will or won't is up to the owner but it's being discussed. The right thing to do is change it back. The Redskins should be the name they should have never gotten rid of. @MHS831 Mentioned 38% in a poll. One poll. I have seen where other polls that were in FAVOR of keeping the name. It just depends on who is polling. Bottom line IMO a group of Native Americans. The Native American Guardian Association has filed a lawsuit to change it back. If a Native American group wants it back. Who the hell are we to disagree. It comes down to the WOKE crowd can't stop interfering in everything they can get their hands on.

Very interesting. I can definitely see this happening. I mentioned before that Detroit was highly interested in Burns. If Morgan pulls the triggers on this, we'll see just how shrewd he is. IMO multiple 1sts should be the starting point. Anything less we're not getting our money's worth. From Catcrave Talks are ongoing between the Carolina Panthers and Brian Burns' representatives. His Instagram story this week led to speculation an agreement was close. Nothing has been confirmed one way or another, with general manager Dan Morgan keeping everything on the table to ensure the franchise doesn't get left empty-handed once again. Interest in Burns would be extremely high, even in a tag-and-trade scenario. Nick Shook from Around the NFL highlighted the possibility of the Detroit Lions throwing their hat in the ring. Something that would give them another dynamic pass-rusher to put opposite Aidan Hutchinson.
