We take later round QBs here and there. We have a later round QB already on the roster. We draft later round QBs, and we will continue to do so in the future. Do you want another later round QB to add to Corral? It might happen, but remember Fitt is our GM. He knows QBs like Cardi B knows quantum physics. Round 4 - Chis Winkie Round 5 - Randy Fasani Round 4 - Stefan Lefors Round 6 - Tony Pike Round 2 - Jimmy Clausen Round 3 - Will Grier Round 3 - Matt Crral

"We saw a guy we liked *bzzzt* and we took him *bzzt*

And the way Fitt says "we saw a guy we loved" will be said with all the enthusiasm and energy of Wednesday Adams. I swear Fitt is the most low energy monotone unenthusiastic person I've ever seen. I want to see him get hyped up when talking about our first pick after the draft. He'll be monotone for sure like he's about to fall asleep.
-
I vote stay put and go BPA. I certainly don't want them trading up for a QB with our scouts and Fitt. Hell no. let's see if Corral pans out, or take a QB at 9th.
-
Now here is the funny part, one of the draft stories will have to end up being true because they'll have listed almost every possibility in the first round. Sooner or later they hit on the Panthers actual plans, but it's purely by process of elimination. Sooner or later they'll hit on the actual plan by making up so many different bs stories.
-
From now to draft day the story on what the Panthers are planning for the draft will change a minimum of 20 times. If you believe any of it then I have a plot of land I'd like to sell you.
-
Oh by the way the next step is to say the contrary with another anonymous source, so I'll go ahead in do that part now ahead of time. An anonymous source told me that the Panthers are in fact interested in taking a QB at 9th. "We like this group of QB's, but we want to be smart and stay put. A guy we like may fall." I'll do the other ones that are being written now for the coming weeks and months ahead. The Panthers are looking to trade up for a QB according to my source. The Panthers are looking to trade down for a QB according to my source. And a few other variations of these types of made up stories.
-
An anonymous source told me that we're interested in taking a WR at the 9th pick. "We just don't like the value for a QB at 9." said my anonymous source. No I won't name the source, not even after the draft is over. You'll never know my source.
-
It's mandatory that each off season sports reporters turn to "anonymous sources" to tell fan bases their favorite team's secret thoughts on the draft and which player and position they value. These "anonymous sources" are usually the either the sports writer's imagination, or people who are not involved in the draft process. The reason for making up stories is to generate clicks for money, and because sports writer's are held to the lowest possible standards when it comes to the draft. It's essentially print whatever you want to get attention, and just make sure your tall tale references anonymous sources who will never be named because they don't exist.

Under No Circumstances Should We Trade a Haul for a QB/Pick
pantherj replied to tukafan21's topic in Carolina Panthers
The best QB prospects will fly off the board within the first 3 or 4 picks imo. I certainly don't want to try and jump into a bidding war with QB desperate teams trying to trade up. No thanks. We can a QB at 9th, or allow Corral to take the reigns. That's fine. If Corral poops the bed and shows no potential, then you need to look at dumping Fitt. We can't have a GM blowing QB picks and bringing in bad FA QBs over and over again. Unacceptable. Take a QB at 9, or pass and give the reigns to Corral. -
I had been harping on getting a big center for years, and we finally have one. He's not the most athletic guy or quick, but that's a lot of weight to having leaning on you all game. He's trouble for smaller d-lines. We could upgrade anywhere along the interior of the o-line through the draft, but with more pressing needs elsewhere it's unlikely. Maybe we'll take a guy later for depth. I prefer upgrading an o-line until it's the best in the NFL. I would keep upgrading this o-line until we could run on anyone and had excellent pass protection. We know this o-line has plenty of room for improvement because we were totally unable to run the ball against the Steelers, and we're built to run it. Brady broke his ankle, but it should be fine in time for training camp. Corbett tore his ACL sadly, so don't expect him to be ready by training camp. He would be aiming for week 1 or 2 imo. Should we draft a guard? My answer is always yes to improving the o-line.

It's a passing league. You need to win shootouts in the 4th quarter. Running the ball and counting on your defense is for beating bad teams. Beating bad teams accomplishes nothing trophy-wise and pushes you down the draft board. If you want trophies you need to air it out. Tepper said during a 2021 preseason game interview that we were going to air it out during the regular season. That never happened, and Rhule was later sent packing. Obviously we're going to hire a HC who knows how to create a modern NFL passing offense. I want the Bengals offensive coordinator, but I'm not picky. Get an OC from any of the NFL teams that have a modern offense that is effective and make him our HC. Then replace McAdoo with someone better and more innovative. McAdoo made too many mistakes with his play calling. He relied on players who had no business trying to execute his plays. For example, Ian Thomas was asked to run block many times, and each time he was destroyed and the play failed as a result. We need an OC who knows how to draw up plays that will highlight out strengths, and minimize our weaknesses. Just two games ago I saw Ian Thomas out there trying to block and he got turned backwards and pushed 5 yards into the backfield on a critical run play. That's McAdoo. He didn't learn anything about our personnel, but rather just kept calling stuff that wasn't right for our players. Why pick a HC who is an offensive guru? Because if we have a problem with McAdoo, or a new OC, then the HC can take over the play calling, and teach the OC what he wants. Jon Fox used to take over the defense when we had a DC who was screwing up. Now defense is much less important, and offense is nearly everything. -
