BREAKING NEWS: Shaqui Griffin to the Panthers
pantherj replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Fitt wants him, and I've never even heard of him, then he must be INCREDIBLE. Oh we've turned this whole season right around baby! -
I want Horn to get off of IR at some point this season. I feels like some of these guys have the slowest recovery times, but I'm not stating that as a fact. It just feels that way.

What's the NFL record for most players sent to IR in a season?

Dwayne Jarrett? Oh yeah...

Players react to firing. They don’t seem too upset
pantherj replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hated Gettleman but I'm starting to think we need a Gettleman type GM who will scare these apathetic players into caring. Gettleman warned about this type of situation where you have journeyman players who half ass it to avoid injury, don't care about winning, and point the finger at the other guy for the team failing. I want the whip cracked and players scrambling to get a win no matter what, not WRs cruising around getting in their cardio for the day. Not o-linemen not even touching the pass rushers. We need a tyrant to come in here and lay down the law on these players. And even more so, we need players who are leaders.- 60 replies

Zavala to IR, will miss rest of the season
pantherj replied to Prowler2k18's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'll never forget our o-line coach pumping his fist in the air screaming for joy like a Viking raider when we picked Zavala. Yeah these guys are guessing. -
Under Rhule I could see what we were trying to do but some of it wasn't working. Like Teddy was great outside of the red zone. Under Frank and Beans I could see what we were trying to do, and none of it was working, and there was no reason to think any of it would work. Just awful.

Panthers sign a big fatty (Gabe Jackson) OL with 130 starts
pantherj replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
A switch to gap run blocking would make a lot of sense. Icky and Moton are about 330 lbs each, and Bozeman is about 315 lbs, but both Bozeman and Moton actually look like they have put on more weight. Running the ball on first and second down is out of date, but that would reduce the number of times we put Young in 3rd and long situations. At the very least we need to gap run twice and then throw, and lightly mix in play action passing here and there on the early downs. But establish the run first even if we go down a score or two. Irrelevant. Establish the run. We're not headed to the playoffs, and we have to see what Young can do if we play action pass. Yes I know Young belongs in shotgun WCO, but we need to know if we have to blow up this o-line completely. Can Young get under center and play action pass once we get the run going? Yes or no. Now is the perfect time to find out. We have nothing to lose. If he can't do it, then the o-line has to be rebuilt, or Young has to go (trade) imo. Also I think we should look for a power back. We need a big shifty RB who can be our sledge hammer. Low center of gravity type of guy. -
Yeah sometimes these simulations have a weird thing happen. I saw him falling and made a move, but of course we'd never be so lucky.

Since I have no idea when we'll get the 2024 mock draft forum I'm going to go ahead and make the 2024 draft thread here. Let the mock draft madness begin.

CMC was basically the best thing about watching the Panthers play. The soul sucking vortex of doom and apathy the was Sam Darnold w could be somewhat counteracted by CMC. I was all for trading CMC with the idea that we had a clear plan in place and had a great QB in mind to draft. Instead we drafted a tiny QB who is a long shot to make it in the NFL (any tiny QB is a long shot), and we have no plan in place whatsoever. We're just tossing players out there and whatever happens, happens. No vision. No nothing. We're lucky to have won one game. If THAT is what we're doing, then I'd rather have kept CMC and just focused on enjoying his running on Sundays. Now I have nothing to enjoy.

Greg Olsen says he is interested in Panthers HC Job
pantherj replied to usmcpanthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
I like to avoid high risk situations. If Greg proves that he is good at coaching WRs ect, then I'd feel more comfortable moving him up the ladder further. To start him at the top is more risk than what I am comfortable with taking. Just my opinion. -
Greg Olsen says he is interested in Panthers HC Job
pantherj replied to usmcpanthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
No chance. Greg can come come her and be the WR coach, or some other lower position, but not HC right out of the gate. He needs to work his way up into that position. If he can come here and do what Ricky Proehl did for us, then he can work his way up. Greg can start out as an offensive consultant or something to that effect. -
I'm going to start a new mock draft thread when they change the 2023 draft forum to 2024.
-
The way I look at it at this point is that we need to use the draft to rebuild the o-line, and then in 2025 we get a new QB if Young still has not panned out. We can also use free agency for the o-line as well, but at this point I'm assuming the draft will be the primary way of improving the o-line. It doesn't matter at all who is at QB if we use this o-line as is in 2024. The guy will get murdered. It's actually a minor miracle that Young hasn't been seriously injured yet.

If Fitt wasn't fired for Sam Darnold, and he's not fired for this train wreck of a team he's built, then I can't imagine what scenario would cause him to be fired.

RB Coach Duce Staley and QB Coach Josh McCown fired
pantherj replied to jamos14's topic in Carolina Panthers
The o-line coach has to be sweating bullets at this point, and Thomas Brown is thanking his lucky star Franks and Beans took over play calling. -
Oh and don't worry Brown and the o-line coach are next.
-
Now that was satisfying.
