Painful so far. Let's go D

Must win games begin when we are a loss or tie away from being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. This game is extremely important because Sam is starting to play like trash, and we've got to have him bounce back. Also the team as a whole is making a lot of dumb mistakes, and that is partly due to being young, but we have to turn the corner. Maturity has to come quickly or it's another lost season.
-
Well you certainly can't look to Sam when things get rocky. Robby is ignored when he gets vocal. The o-linemen are just happy to still be in the NFL. CMC is the goldneboy wunderkind who just wants to blend into the team, and wouldn't mind all of Luke's former commercial endorsement gigs. We don't have a leader on offense.
-
I pretty much agree with their takes. The Vikings fans seem reasonable and their understanding our of team, what little they know, is pretty accurate. Yes if Sam fumigates the stadium again then we're toast. If Sam does his middle of the road routine, then it will be a "YOU TAKE IT"... "NO YOU TAKE IT" type of game.

Good Sam or Jets Sam. That decides the game with no CMC. No telling what Sam will do.

Sorry but the cart sprained it's tire carting off Deonte. Out 3-6 weeks.

Vikings at Panthers Predictions - Let's hear it
pantherj replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Without CMC our offense should score about 13 points + the garbage time points the Vikings allow us to have to kill the clock. With CMC Sam always has an obviously open target, so that's a piece of cake. That means we score in the 20's or even 30s, and we're in a close dogfight. Sam is a 13 points kind of QB without someone like Steve Smith or CMC ect carrying him. -
CMC trending the wrong direction? Not practicing today...
pantherj replied to SgtJoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is like a 4 win team without CMC, but fans hate his big contract. Ugh... what???? -
Double post.

With Gilmore, Horn, Henderson, and Jackson healthy to lock up those receivers, and we know they're going to jumbo package us, I like our chances. Our defensive players just weren't prepared at all in practice for what the Cowboys did to us. There are ways to stop it, but you need to plan ahead of time. Throw in CMC who can get open against any defender, and we're right there with them to try and win. Word is spreading that Sam isn't much of a threat, and so we might be facing a lot of Cover-1, an other pass friendly defenses. The Cowboys I'm sure don't respect Sam, so Sam would have to come out and actually throw good deep balls, and go through his progressions like he has 20-20 vision. We can beat the Cowboys, but not if Sam is Jets Sam again. No chance.

Who is the o-line coach?

I've never seen anyone effectively bull rush Deonte Brown, and that includes Derrick Brown. No one is going to push Deonte into Sam. No one. I think Rhule has his finger in the pot of everything going on with this team, and that makes sense given his salary. We know that Rhule demands athleticism from all of his players, and Deonte sometimes moves like a tranquilized Rhino when asked to to get up field and haul ass. Rhule wants players hustling beyond just what their standard responsibilities involve. I think Rhule wanted Deonte as a long shot who he MIGHT be able to slim down beyond the weight he's already lost. Rhule acknowledged that he may be one of those guys who can't lose much more weight than what he has already lost. Deonte might not be up to speed on the assignments on all these exotic fronts and stunts that we might face from week to week. Even so I bet he's wanting to play especially now that they have let Christensen out there.

The requirement for QB limbo is having a QB who has had plenty of time in the league to show off a high level of talent, but instead has showed they are inconsistent (a game manager), or are lower tier (bottom of the NFL in stats). Having a QB who is great doesn't automatically mean a SB win is only a matter of time. Only some great QBs win SBs, but only teams with great QBs win SBs in this era, with maybe an extremely rare exception. Just look at the last 20 or so SB winning teams. See the QBs? We're in limbo with Sam. There is no getting out of limbo so long as Sam is the QB.

The NFL has an answer for defensive heaven. They flag your defense to help the opposing offense generate more TDs and excitement in the game.

There are only so many types of loses a team can have in the NFL. We're coming off of two different types of loses: Dallas - borderline blowout loss to a superior team Eagles - blooper filled stupidity loss to an equally talented team. The Dallas loss is the easy one because they would beat us 9/10 times imo. The Eagles loss hurts more because that is a 50/50 game imo. The losses that are going to be the hardest to take this season are ones where you can clearly see it could go either way, and then our players make obvious mistake after mistake to ensure a loss. That's the Eagles game in a nutshell. The bottom line is that we're in QB limbo. This is where teams are trapped until they get a great QB who can win the SB. Sam will win the SB right after I win the powerball lottery. So we have to enjoy what we have and try and win some games, but the SB is not on the table. The SB is for teams with great QBs, and Sam is Sam. He'll be good here and there, and poop other games. Limbo. Same thing with Teddy. They both can manage the game, but they're not putting the team on their back except in rare moments.

Basically CMC is a YAC god. When he racks up YAC Darnold can get away with throwing less, and that means less INTs. Our offense has to flow through CMC against the Vikings until they shift so much to his side that guys are getting wide open on the other side. Super easy for dumbass Brady to dial that up.
-
The rest of this seasons games should either be dogfights, or us getting blown out by TB. The o-line is trash, Sam is seeing ghosts and throwing turds, and CMC gets injured by the wind. Before you press the poop button remember this... we're not a good team and losing moves us up the draft. The higher that 1st pick, the better. We'd get obliterated in the playoffs. I'm thinking about the draft at this point. If that's a high 1st rounder it's going to look shinny to Houston. Or maybe we draft a QB or LT with it? This isn't our year.

Smitty puts the blame yesterday all on the OL
pantherj replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Everything went wrong. If Sam didn't turn into Jets Sam we win. If the o-line played better, we win. If the defense played better, we win. Hell even the special teams pooped the bed with the punt block. Sam is not going to elevate this team. Sam can drive the bus down the road, but he can't get out and push it. The rest of the team has make Sam look better and relieve him of the pressure and burden of trying to make a lot of throws. You don't want him attempting a lot of throws because that's when the INTs are likely to show up. We basically have to dominate the other team in all areas, and then Sam will steer the ship into the harbor. When it's a dogfight and we're struggling I expect Sam to destroy his underwear with a Taco Bell style accident. -
Had we won who were you going to give the game ball to?
pantherj replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Jackson. Peanut punch and badass interception. Dude was balling out there while dopey Darnold threw poop. -
We need a great QB. If that means Watson then go for it. If that means the draft, then pick your target and make a move. Sam might lead us to 8-9 limbo this season, or it might be might much worse if CMC is injured. I want the best player on this team to be our QB, not our RB. CMC is small and delicate, and he's lived a lovely pampered life. He's not that guy who is just this junkyard dog who crawled out of hell and is ready for punishment to escape poverty. CMC is always going have a nagging this, or a hurting that. We need to expect that he's going to miss a lot of games from here on out. We don't have to be a team that depends entirely on on CMC just to be decent. The blueprint of building up the defense is not working. You saw what will happen if you try to stifle a popular team's offense. The refs let the o-line hold. Now what? You lose. Even if they don't hold the D will get tired and take plays off. What we need, and I have said this since Cam fell apart, is a potent offense, and a scrappy cheap defense. Instead the team I hate the most, the Cowboys, have that and we have the opposite. Step 1: Find a great QB. Step 2: Build a brick wall o-line. Step 3: Add weapons if needed. Step 4: Check to make sure the defense is still cheap. Something like that. Rhule's plan: Step 1: Bring in a vet QB who is unproven. Step 2: Patchwork poop o-line. Step 3: Add a weapon if he's a steal. Step 4: LOAD UP THE DEFENSE! All your CBs are MINE! Draft picks EVERYWHERE! God help us.

Darnold might be the next one out the door
pantherj replied to Matthias's topic in Carolina Panthers
The middle of that line is almost certainly gone as soon as it makes financial sense to dump them. Sam has until the end of the season to shape up. Taking a cap hit dumping him hurts, but it has to be done immediately if he poops the bed this season. You don't want two lost seasons to try and save face and cap money. No single contract is worth a lost season.
