https://www.panthers.com/video/jeremy-chinn-says-panthers-will-work-hard-to-fix-mistakes In this video Chinn talks about being out of gaps and communication being an issue as well. Shaq looked really pissed at Chinn a few times when he did not fill his gap and floated backwards, or hardly moved when he needed to be coming downhill into his gap.
-
Another complaint is that Chinn fills the wrong gaps and takes false steps. That has to stop this season. Everyone has to be in the right gap or we're going to get gashed again. And Brown has to play with passion and not take plays off. There is plenty of talent already out there but they need to play a lot better. We spent a fortune in draft capital on that defense.
-
One area defense we make a mistake with, if I had to complain, is the DE position. Brain Burns is a good pass rusher, but we needed a much bigger DE at his spot who can still rush the passer. Burns being undersized is a problem, but it's hard to fix that. You sub him out and they pass. You leave him in and they run. If we had a bigger DE at his spot who could rush the passer that would fix things.
-
Our defense can be exploited just like most of the other defenses in the NFL. When we go big teams throw on us, and when we go small to rush the passer teams run it. The QB just looks at who we have or sub out there and he makes an audible to attack our package. Trying to build some mega perfect defense is just fools gold. We could spend more 1st round picks on defense and still be exploited. It's 2022. You win with your QB for the most part. The offense needs to be humming all game long. Hunkering down and hoping to slow down top teams and win is just a pipe dream.

You have to have a QB who can sling fire if you want to think about the SB. We have plenty of talent on the roster overall, but we lack a QB who can play at a high level. That changes in the 2023 draft imo. Be patient. -
I want Corral to be a home run franchise QB who wins a half dozen SBs here. That's the homer side of me. Realistically he was passed over because his deep ball is not good. That puts him in Teddy territory where his ceiling is being good and the short and middle throws. You saw what we did with Teddy and now he's a backup elsewhere. The 2023 draft has some golden QB prospects and we'd be insane not to take one imo.
-
Ok I'm going to say something negative so for everyone who gets upset by that stop reading and don't poop this post. I warned you. Corral's deep ball is very inaccurate, so he will not pan out. We will take a QB round 1 of the 2023 draft.
-
0% chance he's coming here.
-
We lacked a decent QB last season. That decided how the season went. We have the same QB this season. No vets.
-
No to older players especially defensive players. We need to be getting younger for our young QB of the future.
-
We're not taking a WR in that draft. Try again.

This now allows Rhule and Fitt to blame Macadoo if Corral doesn't pan out.

Round 4 Pick 120: Brandon Smith, LB, Penn State
pantherj replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
I knew once we got into the later rounds we'd be taking players who could contribute on special teams until they we're able to start or rotate in for us. Just look at the 40 times and you can see they'll be running down the field to cover kicks. -

https://www.yahoo.com/news/nfl-network-insider-alcohol-issues-034058110.html "NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport had some strong words about former Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral after the Carolina Panthers picked Corral in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft on Friday. After four seasons and two dominant campaigns at Ole Miss, Corral was the fourth quarterback selected, going at No. 94. Rapoport said the Panthers viewed Corral as the quarterback in this class with the best college tape, but his slide to the back of the third round might have been caused by off-the-field issues." Wow I had no idea he was going through so much.
-
I could see us go LB and he could help on special teams.
-
We're basically failing upwards. We keep getting wrecked during the season, but rewarded in the draft. Ah thank you NFL for being so nice.
-
Well we have to think about gaining special teams players at this level. Specials teams coach will have his wants and needs.

Round 3 Pick 94: Panthers Select Matt Corral - QB Ole Miss
pantherj replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah Corrall will be able to do what Teddy did in moving the offense with short and mid-range passes. The problem is the deep ball is not there as far as accuracy goes and that won't change. Corrall is a big upgrade over PJ, but he's not good enough to deter us from lusting over those 2023 prospects. -
Chris Simms top QB is Matt Corral and why you should listen
pantherj replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Rhule has until the end of his 7 year contract to build a winner. Sam will not be back after this season, and Corrall is a long term project. We will go into the 2023 draft looking for one of the top QB prospects. -

I don't know where I saw this but said he was 6'0 and I've had that in my mind ever since.
