Maybe Teddy Bridgewater wasn’t that bad….
pantherj replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Teddy was good at throwing DJ and other targets open when teams played us man to man. When they went zone Teddy was good at dropping it into the bucket when he needed to move the chains. The problem was that Teddy didn't want to try and throw deep because he was concerned about the o-line, and because his arm wasn't that good for going deep. This led to a lack of explosive plays to take the top off the defense, and when you lack explosive plays you can't make mistakes. The pressure is on to not turn the ball over and even one big mistake can put the game out of reach. To complicate matters Teddy was terrible in the redzone to the point where you might wonder if he had mob connections. Once he was crap canned he made a statement about how Rhule didn't have the team practicing red zone enough. I thought at the time that Teddy would be cut at the end of the season just like everyone else, but I actually wish we had kept him. If we had built up the o-line and added a couple of big redzone targets for Teddy we could have been a middle of the road team. Middle of the road up to this point would have been a wonderful dream compared to the nightmare of Sam and Baker. Moving forward we must flush the toilet completely. The QB room needs an exorcism complete with holy water. Some kind of promise from Tepper needs to be made that after this season that we will never see Sam and Baker under center again at BOA. -
If you're still on this forum at this point in Panthers history, then you are the cornerstone of this franchise's fanbase. Yes I would trade you for two 1sts and a second, but we have not received the offer yet.

Eason was cut from our PS and signed with the 49ers PS. I wouldn't mind seeing Sam out there again just for some variety. I have stopped watching the games live, but I still watch the recording and I have seen enough of Baker. No mas. I think Wilks prefers PJ for whatever reason, but at this point I want to see us run the wildcat more. I just don't care to see any of these QBs anymore. I don't claim to be a QB expert or anything more than a fan, but I knew these QBs didn't look right before they were brought here. They are defective in whatever ways are important to being a successful NFL QB. I've had enough of them and the season is nowhere near over. I find myself watching Baker and wondering if he just took to many blows to the head or something. Sam is brain dead but at least he's humble. Pick your poison. Who do you want to watch screw things up if we can't run the ball down the other teams throat? Here is a scary thought. We know that the draft pick for Baker will change from a 5th to a 4th if he starts a certain number of games. Consider how bad Sam must look that Baker got a start over him even with the draft pick in jeopardy. Sam must look like pure putrid trash in practice because if it's close, then send out Sam. Right?

Free agent QBs who are actually good will avoid this place imo. Even Watson passed on this dumpster fire and he was being accused.... well let's not mention his situation at the time. We might not have to go all in with a mega-deal if we have a top 2 pick the 2023 draft. Just take CJ or Young and see how it pans out. But yes I'd rather have Lamar for a little less draft capital than Watson.

Baker is better than I remember Pickles being. Jimmy would just throw check downs the whole game no matter the situation, score, he didn't care. Baker panics in the pocket, shuffles his feet around wildly, double pumps and releases on the second continuous pump motion, tilts his head back to the heavens on release if someone is coming into the pocket, and barely reads half the field if that. The maddening thing about Baker is that if he would calm down in the pocket, and be precise with his throwing motion we might have something. He actually has a good arm, and he's not as dumb as Darnold imo, but it's his pocket presence and form. With Jimmy I just thought he didn't even care one way of the other. Like he wasn't even studying film or anything. Just check it down and move on with life. I have this memory of Pickles throwing a deep pass to Smith maybe for a TD, and seeing Pickles gloat and celebrate with air pistols or something. I don't even know if that happened or it was some fever dream from 2010.

Panthers - Broncos open up 35.5 over/under
pantherj replied to GoobyPls's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was in total shock at Fitt picking up that 5th year option on Sam. We couldn't have waited to see him play because the offer was time sensitive, but why make the offer at all? What had Sam accomplished? What about his play appeared worthy of that kind of money? I was asking these questions at the time. I said Sam was a proven loser. Fitt looked at it as a cost saving measure for when Sam blew up and solidified himself as our franchise QB. We'd have him locked into a great deal for us. That's how off they were with the situation. Unreal. And sure enough another Fitt blunder just occured in passing on 2 first round picks and a second round pick for Brian Burns. PFF has Burns scored at 48.8 grade in run defense, and 68.2 grade in pass rush min 200 snaps. The good news is the NFL rewards massive failure with high draft picks. If we can land CJ (aka Geno Smith 2.0) and he pans out we'll be in a great position. -
Panthers - Broncos open up 35.5 over/under

Mayfield is going to have a horrific game imo, but we should be able to run the ball better. This is another game I don't plan on watching live so that I can fast forward to prevent total boredom. -
Foreman versus Baltimore: 11 attempts for 24 yards, 2.2 yards per carry.

PJ is very bad, but a serviceable backup. Baker is terrible and annoying. Sam is terrible and zombie-like. I didn't want any of these QBs on our team at the time the Panthers went to acquire them. My vote was no. Since then I have said that the most important event for the Panthers is the upcoming 2023 NFL draft. Nothing has changed. Each loss this season is critical for our draft position, and each win is harmful. I just finished watching today's game because I didn't watch it live. Why bother? Baker, for certain, would never lead the Panthers to a playoff game. Forget the SB, we would never make a playoff game. Not even with the NFCS being historically bad. If somehow the Saints, Bucs, and Falcons team planes crashed in mid-air and we made the playoffs, then we would lose the first game 50-something to 0. I hate many of these players, and this 2022 team, but I especially hate Baker Mayfield. He is extremely annoying and a blithering idiot in the pocket. He has the footwork of a geriatric tap dancer who has had multiple strokes. Has has to GOOOOOO. This is the only season in Panthers history where I have not watched the games live. That is how much I hate the 2022 Panthers. I have had enough. Cut Baker and Sam now. I'm done. Send out PJ. If he is injured again then run the wildcat for the rest of the season. That would be no worse than Baker starting. We can get the same results with the wildcat.

The stadium is empty enough. I think what few fans do bother to show up to games will take a pass if they hear Sam will be stating again. On the other hand we're paying him well over 18 million dollars to practice and wear a headset. He's listening the plays coming in on gameday and earning $18,000,000. He was evaluated at being worth that kind of money by Fitt, unless you think Rhule is responsible for that as well, so we should put Sam out there and see that Fitt magic.
-
Yeah high ankle sprain from our turf. The players talked to Tepper about the dangerous turf, but he reminded them that the fans don't like them and so we're keeping the turf. He said we'll change the turn when fans actually come to watch them play. Ok I made that up.

I have no idea what Fitt will do because from what fans tell me he was under Rhule's thumb and didn't have any freedom to pick the free agents and draft picks he wanted. If I am to believe that, then what Fitt will do next is difficult to say. The people who have the most information on our QBs think that Sam is the worst healthy QB on the roster. He's gone at the end of the season never to return. Baker and PJ are in a battle for the starting spot, and anyone on Earth could tell you that neither will be on the roster as the starting QB next season. That leaves Corral and possibly PJ or Baker as our backup QB. I think Baker will leave for greener pastures, and that leaves PJ looking to be our backup, and Corral wanting to start. We obviously are not going through next season with just PJ and Corral, and maybe not even PJ will remain. CJ and Young are the big prizes in 2023. CJ has a powerful arm, but his mechanics get sloppy at times, and he's not the most savvy QB you'll see. Young's arm is lacking in power throwing deep, but he's really savvy and intelligent, he keeps his vision down field when he needs to move in the pocket, and moves in the pocket as well as any QB you'll see. The Panthers ongoing self inflicted QB limbo is highly unlikely to end now that we're beating up on NFCS teams, not to mention the other poop teams on our extremely easy schedule. Hell the only reason grandpa Brady is still playing is because of the cryptocurrency disaster. With those QBs off the table I think Fitt will target a free agent QB again, and who would come here except the most poop FA QBs on the market? Yes w may draft a QB no one is talking about right now, but I have my doubts.

Is Burns really worth backing up a Brinks truck?
pantherj replied to mc52beast's topic in Carolina Panthers
Huddle now: Pay all these defensive players the big contracts they want! We need them! No to 1st round picks! Future Huddle: Why did Fitt pay all this money to these defensive players? They aren't worth that much! We're in cap hell and we're 5 and 12!
