We're basically the scariest team in the NFL right now because no lower tier team is allowed to lose to us without dire consequences. We're keeping coaching staffs us at night.

BREAKING:Panthers re-sign Chuba Hubbard
pantherj replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is one of those signings that the fan base will generally love. A lunch pale guy who performed better than expected. RBs are a dime a dozen and not as important anymore to making the playoffs and winning the SB. I'd rather just cycle through young RBs who are hungry and have a lot to prove. But on the other hand you can't knock what Chubba has done here. -
Jonathan Jones: Good chance Clowney and Thielen are traded
pantherj replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fine by me. I don't want any vets. -
Fitt's back breaking moves killed this franchise. Dan hasn't made any critical mistakes that would make me think he's a bad GM yet. Jury is still out. To make a move like this likely means that Diontee was locker room cancer and fed up with being here. So instead of cutting him we got a little something instead of nothing. Not the end of the word. It's not like missing out on 2 first round picks for Brian Burns or something. It's a dinky little move in a nothing season that no one will remember in a year. Great deal? No. It's likely Canales wanted Diontee gone because of a rotten attitude imo, and we got few little sheckles in the process. Yeah we're on the hook for the money for this season, but I don't want that money helping us this season. Burn it. Trade another good player. Go for it. Tank this down all the way, burn the tank, and sell the spare parts. 1-16 is what everyone here should want. Idc about the 3 million. Keep losing. We'll try and fix this next season without most of these poop players and horrible DC.

I was thinking like a 4th at worst. A 5th is like adding a special teams player who might not pan out. Is it possible to go 0-18 somehow next season?

Dan Graziano: Panthers will trade Diontae Johnson
pantherj replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's upsetting to me but it's the right choice. We're several seasons from having a good team, and we don't need veteran players that have draft pick trade value. Any and all vets who have decent draft pick trade value should be traded sadly. The only key factor is that we receive good value in draft picks. We don't want their players imo, just the picks. I was in favor of keeping our vets after the Raiders game, but now it's clear that Andy is washed up. He's cooked. It's over. Fire sale and plan for the future. -
Dianna Russian: several teams interested in Bryce Young
pantherj replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm sure teams are interested but what is Young's worth on the market? -
As some of you may know I make a lot of mock drafts each season and I will fire that up soon. I HATE that we don't have our second round pick but Fitt was a complete moron. The worst GM I could have imagined. I hated nearly everything he did and he's still haunting us from the GM graveyard, so that's Fitting for Halloween.
-
We'll take a QB unless Canales thinks they are putrid trash. They'd have to be really bad fro us to trade down, and even then we might not receive a fair trade offer.
-
Our entire defense outside of Horn looks like second string.
-
Whoever did those CBS football jersey graphics put in work. That was nice.
-
Our secondary coverage is as loose as a wizards sleeve.

Jeremy Fowler: Panthers aren’t eager to trade Diontae Johnson
pantherj replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Anyone on this team is on the trading block for the right price imo. The hard reality is that even with a good o-line, veteran QB, and decent weapons we're still the worst team in the NFL. That's when you know it's over for the next couple of seasons, so ANY advantageous trade should be taken imo. Now Morgan and Canales are fighting for their jobs, so they'll want to hang on to productive players and may pass on a sweet deal. Like Fitt passed on two first round picks for Burns because he had a win now gotta' save my job mentality. Drop a Steph Curry QB into place and we're winning. It was a fantasy. We need reality. I want a GM like Gettleman but with actual draft evaluation abilities. -
It's a good move imo. They are in win now mode so load up the roster and to hell with the future. The future is Rogers retiring and rebuilding. Know where you are in the process. It's all in time for the Jets. Us? It's move the team to Toronto time.

Would You Get a QB in 2025 draft, or not??
pantherj replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not opposed to a bridge QB, but if there is a rookie QB in the 25' draft we like snap him up of course. The o-line is solid when healthy, and the depth is good as well. It would depend on what the rookie looked like in practice as to if I'd want him to start the 2025 season. If he's looking shaky in practice, then out comes the bridge QB to start the season. No need to traumatize the rookie, but all people are not the same. Some guys can start as a rookie and excel. Just depends on who we land and how they respond to NFL level competition and that's an on the fly kind of thing to decide of course. -
Would You Get a QB in 2025 draft, or not??
pantherj replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think you take a QB in the upcoming draft so long as Canales wants him of course. To pass on a QB because "experts" don't think it's a good class makes no sense. Experts thought Young would be good. Pull the trigger again and see what happens. To wait until 2026 for another rookie QB is just plain depressing. Try try try again. We also need to start getting younger and unloading some vets. Expensive journeymen who are being overpaid will lead us nowhere. On a positive note we're at rock bottom. This is as low as we can be imo. Get this season over with and start the rebuild. -

Yes it certainly wasn't just D.J and the defense wasn't even lining up properly, so that would have been an L no matter what. However, I didn't want D.J going off because it made the loss feel worse. It was a reminder that Fitt really screwed up, and here it is shoved in your face. Here's D.J gloating and running around in the endzone. If anything stop him and we'll have someone else beat us. Can't even manage that. Unreal.

Fitt made way too many devastating decisions in the draft and FA during his time here. We can't recover from those mistakes anytime soon. We're basically building from scratch. We need everything outside of a couple of positions. Luvu wouldn't be doing much of anything in this defense. Our defense literally doesn't know how to line up or what play is being called. They are guessing and completely confused. They signal to one another and many players don't know what is being signaled. They're totally lost, and Luvu wouldn't fix that or change the locker room. Yes I'd like to have Luvu, but we'd have had our asses handed to us regardless. Our needs are devastating to contemplate. Despite trading the farm we still may need a QB. If that wasn't bad enough, we still need a #1 WR. Think that's bad? We need an elite pass rushing OLB. And those are just the critical expensive needs that take multiple seasons and luck to acquire. We may be the worst team in the NFL, and we clearly have the worst defense in Panthers history after the key injuries. The ship is completely sunk and Fitt is the one who hit the iceberg. Switching from Young to Andy is like rearranging chairs on the titanic. Yes Andy is better, but outside of the Giants game we're not winning another game imo. How could we when the team is gutted? C.J Stroud looked like an awesome prospect at the time. Young looked physically limited to say the least. Even so, we had a pile of mistakes by Fitt already weighing the team down before the Young debacle. D.J going off against us was just salt in the wound Fitt left on this franchise. You'd think our defensive "coordinator" would put a plan in place to have D.J blanketed in coverage because everyone: knew full well that this was D.J's big moment to show us up. You knew the Bears would give him special attention in that game. You knew it. I knew it. We knew what was coming. The Bears and Panthers knew the optics and the personal score to settle. Yet what did our "coordinator" do? You saw the results. I hate these players. I hate these coaches. I hate our owner and his idiotic "Steph Curry" speech about Young. If I could clear out everyone and completely start over I'd snap my fingers and make it happen. This team is aaaasssssssssss and the coaches appear clueless. No identity. Confusion. Slow. Weak. Can't tackle. Bad pursuit angles. Busted coverage. You name it. It's over. And it's not back on next season. It's over next season as well. We're YEARS away from making any kind of noise. At the time I was screaming for Fitt to take the 1st round picks. There were so many shocking mistakes that we could only have landed here, and nowhere else. Are there reminders all over the place. Yes. Would you need a lobotomy to forget about all of Fitt's mistakes. Also yes.

It depends. If the Red Rifle performs well for most of the season, then in the draft I'd take a #1 WR in the first, and a center in the 3rd. Later rounds are more for depth at weak positions and I'm not ready to do mock drafts yet. The reason for taking a WR #1 is to give us a functioning offense when we're facing a good defense with tight pass coverage. You defeat tight pass coverage by having a WR who can win 50/50 balls, and get decent separation from top DBs. That way teams like the Bears can't blanket our WRs and shut down our offense. Priority 1 is to ensure that the offense can function against any team. That keeps every game watchable and even entertaining. The defense is the worst in Panthers history. I'm aware. Later round picks can be used to add depth to the defense, and any cap room can be used to bring in an OLB and ILB. The safeties will have to suck for the time being, and the other non-Horn CBs as well. We have issues all over the defense. Everywhere. However, the refs favor offense, and we need to get the ball in the air to rack up pass interference calls and score exciting TDs. The core of the defense will need to be built around Brown and Horn, but that will have to wait until 2026. Fitt ruined this team so badly that we're looking at 2027 before we might be good again if the Red Rifle can hold up. If Dalton performs poorly overall this season, then we need to take yet another QB in the draft. We'll probably have a top 2 pick, so we could move up one spot if we see a QB Canales wants. It's really all up to Canales at to which QB we need, and where to take him. If Canales doesn't like the top QBs, then I'd look at OLB with out 1st pick. We desperately need to create a pass rush, and that starts with an elite OLB. 3rd round I'm looking for a center to solidify the o-line to protect Young, or a new FA QB, or whatever the hell Canales wants. Andy decides what I'd do, and his season isn't over yet. He can still win the starting spot for 2025, but it's not looking great at the moment. Plenty more games though.

Welp 1-16 is coming into view. Our one main strength just became a weak spot. We were not headed to the playoffs obviously, but with all these injuries it's looking like we won't even have 3-4 wins now. We had a weak roster at the start of the season, but now we're a bottom 3 team.

Our defense is severely lacking in talent, but I'm glad you brought up the incompetence due to inexperience. I should have mentioned that icing on the cake. Horn was fired up, but he's not exactly what he once was in his prime. Not saying he isn't still young and talented, but he's not exactly the same imo. I like his passion though and he's our best defender.
