Panthers agree to terms with Broncos DL DeShawn Williams
pantherj replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am certainly not mad about the signing as I don't know anything about him. I'm just pointing out that it's easy to be in the dark right now. -

Yeah it's hard for me to keep up as well and it doesn't help that his guy is a scrub and I've never heard his name in my life. Ok not a scrub, but you know what I mean. -
Yeah there is just no way we're going to be able to agree on all these players. We're bound to disagree. Like I don't want to take a slot receiver with that pick, but the next fan may may love the pick. It just depends.

CJ is a better QB than AR. Period.
-
These picks are bad imo. Pick No. 1 (First round): Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida Pick No. 39 (Second round): Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee Pick No. 93 (Third round): A.T. Perry, WR, Wake Forest ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I like these picks. Pick No. 114 (Fourth round): Zach Harrison, DE, Ohio State Pick No. 145: Zack Kuntz, TE, Old Dominion

If you check out my mock draft thread you’ll see we had a big discussion about Kuntz and I’m warming up to him. Also I will always have us taking one of the top two QBs in the draft unlike the pandering USA Today.
-
Ok I know exactly what happened here. The Panthers are a small market team that isn’t that popular, so they are mocking the two top QBs to other teams and gave us the long term project QB who we could have had at 9. Yeah not appreciating that crap.

Here is a nice video on Kuntz.
-
So what round do you think Kuntz will go in the actual draft?
-
Yeah I think if he has like a season of NFL weight training and he can get more powerful then you've got something there. Just looking at his arms and legs, and he kinda is like a big WRs who doesn't really like the contact, if he can transition to a bigger tougher guy who can block and scrap more then that is great. You've found yourself a later round gem there.
-
I think Washington would have the edge on run blocking over Kuntz, and Washington has the body development. You know Kuntz, to be 6'7 or 6'8 and perform like he did at the underwear Olympics might be something we're never seen before. He's a freak, but how long before he is NFL ready? I think that's why he's projected so low. He'll have to fill out in the weight room, like another 10 pounds or more.

At this point if we take a TE he will have to be better than Hurst, or replace Ian but until we cut Ian I would skip TE later in the draft. And if we keep Ian I would skip TE altogether in the later rounds. Jmo. If we address #1 WR in FA, then we should look at TE with our second round pick imo, but I do love Gibbs. I think Gibbs behind our o-line would have a chance to be like Alvin Kamara in his prime when he used to care us up. We just desperately need a big #1 TE to make things easier on whatever rookie QB is out there, but Gibbs is really good too.

Panthers sign Bengals TE Hayden Hurst
pantherj replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am not against trading for Nuk. Trading back up into the 1st would be a last resort if we fail in free agency. I wouldn't trade a future first to move back up into the first. We have other assets. -

The only other option is to trade back up into the 1st round and target one of the WRs there to be our #1, but it's risky to count on finding a trade partner, and it's expensive draft capital wise. -

We could get a monster TE in the second round, a killer, but we've got to do something about #1 WR. Like 100% have to make a move in a trade or sign someone. -

Yeah what are we paying? This is Wal-Mart shopping. Let's not go crazy. We still have to have a #1 WR. There are slot receivers in the draft where we pick in the second round unless we're going to trade up. -

I wouldn't pay much, but I worry Fitt might be handing out a fantastic deal. Please don't Fitt. We need that money for a #1 WR. -
Frank Reich has NO EXCUSES… playoffs or bust in 3 seasons
pantherj replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't have any expectations for CJ's rookie season. That's probably not going to be a winning season imo. Season 2 we need to be knocking on the door of the playoffs at the very least. Season 3 we need to make the playoffs. Season 4 we need to make a deep playoff run or win the damn thing. If we don't make some kind of clear W/L progress over the next 4 seasons then clean house. -
Panthers to host former Vikings WR Adam Thielen
pantherj replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah it's like a certainty we're trading for a WR or signing someone who can be a #1. DeAndre Hopkins, or OBJ, or pick one. Something has to happen. And that's not me expecting the Panthers to have a wining season because of signing a WR. It's just I don't want CJ throwing to trash and losing his confidence and taking coverage sack hits. -

I want OBJ, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't want anything to do with us. Still we are almost certain to sign a big time #1 WR or trade for one or something. We can't go into this draft looking for a number 1 WR. We'd have to do some serious moves to make something happen. Much better to find a WR before the draft and scratch that off the list. I don't even mind if the WR deal or trade isn't great, but I don't want CJ throwing to a weak rookie #1 WR. We've got to find him someone. -
I shudder to see his noodle arm throws.

So a guy who has the face of a leprechaun with a guy who has the height of a leprechaun. Very appropriate for Saint Patrick’s Day coming up.
