I can't really infer anything from this info in regards to who will we be drafting. Nice to know about the press conference though.

I think you should try another one at some point and don't do any trade downs and see how it turns out.

I still don't understand why Hurney didn't trade up for Herbert. He wanted Herbert from what I remember, so why not move up a few spots to insure you land him? The Panthers have a long history of getting jobbed by the refs, and the DJ bs call I'm sure was sent in to the league and added to our pile of busted bs calls. I've been saying we were going to take a QB in the first round of the 2023 draft since we first brought in Darnold, and now it's happening. Thank you refs.

Two headed monster returns. Andre to OLB. Roy to DE.
-
Adebawore to OLB, Dexter to DE. Henry to ILB. Moro is a bit dumpy and sloppy, but he has power. He can be a long term project who will play DE maybe next season.
-
Flix to OLB, Drew to ILB, Zacch to DE. Scott would back up the slot and compete with Shi Smith. Kuntz is a freak athlete who could pay off later in the season, or next season. CJ Henderson will have his final shot at taking the CB2 position.

What about the o-line? I do think we should take a guy who is a tweener like Brady Christensen again. A guy who can play OG/OT, that way we are covered better depth-wise. Brady was a great pick because if Moton goes down (he was hurting most of last season and couldn't play as well as in the past) then Brady can go out to RT, and we plug in a backup guard, like another tweener draft pick.

It looks like to me there are a lot of defensive players in this draft who could help us transition to the 3-4 very well, but not a lot of players who would impact our offense that much. Bringing in a #1 TE, keeping Ian as #2 TE, and veteran WRs on the roster who are expected to start, and a very weak WR draft class, and no picks in the first outside of a QB selection, and the second round onward with no #1 WR prospects, and an already built o-line, the picture is pretty clear now. It's looking highly likely that we will use this draft to transition our defense to the 3-4. Chark will have to be our #1 WR, Marshall #2, and slot will be Thielen. We are not using the 39th pick to upgrade Thielen in the slot. That makes no sense. Thielen is here to start, and he is backed up by Shi Smith. This is going to be a defensive draft unless an offensive weapon falls a long way and into our lap.

Unrealistic alert. Felix to OLB. Simpson to replace Luvu at ILB. DJ to CB#2. Ika to NT, Brown moves to DE. Roy to DE or backup. That defense... CBs Horn, Turner, Jackson, Henderson. Chinn can play nickel. Filthy lineup. ROLB - Burns/Barno LOLB - Felix/YGM RILB - Shaq/Luvu LILB - Simpson/Chinn/Luvu I would love this lineup for our LBs, and beef up front with Ika, Brown, Tuttle, Williams, Roy and others.

Felix to OLB, Noah ILB. No DE taken so that offensive weapons can be added.
-
Felix to OLB, Pickens to DE. Noah backs up the ILBs. Kuntz gives us another option at TE in case of injury. CJ Henderson will play CB2 until Jackson returns in week 3 or so.

Yeah if you want a slot receiver this is your draft. There are tons of them.

I don't like Shi Smiths hands I think he's a guy who is going to have too many drops. I don't think we'll take Josh Downs because he'd play the slot and we already have that taken care of, and I don't want depth with the 39th pick. Yes no reaching. Please Fitt.

The problem with Luvu at OLB on passing downs is size and speed. He would be undersized, and his speed doesn't make up for his lack of size to be all that effective rushing the passer at OLB. We could put him out there, but I don't think the results would be all that good. Put it this way, I would probably have to put YGM out there over Luvu even on a passing down, and that is painful because I don't like YGM. Like Luvu is more of an ILB than an OLB, but in a pinch I think he could play some OLB. Some fans don't even think he could do it at all, but I think he could. YGM cannot play DE in a 3-4 imo at all unless we're sure they intend to pass. He would get 100% blown up and blasted backwards if he has to deal with two lineman and they run it imo. YGM is 265 pounds. Now if YGM were about 300 pounds then yes move him to DE. Now if we are planning to mug and send the house then yeah YGM can be out there at DE in like special situations. 3rd and long, obvious passing downs, I have a feeling we'll mix things up.

Ok let me try to predict what the Panthers will want at 39. I am terrible at trying to figure out the Panthers, but I will take a stab at it here. As is stands now, we will have Burns and YGM at OLB. YGM has not lived up to his draft position so far in his time here with the Panthers. So I have to take out a crystal and try to gauge what the new coaching staff thinking of YGM. What do I know? I know that the Panthers are having B.J Ojulari out here for a visit. Ok B.J would play OLB, and he would not be replacing Burns obviously. He'd be replacing YGM at some point. What is B.J going to go in the draft? Somewhere in the second round imo. Ah now we're getting somewhere. The Panthers are sniffing around BJ and kicking the tires to see if they want him to eventually replace underachieving YGM. So now B.J goes on my radar as a possible pick at 39. What about WR at 39? We don't have a #1 WR at all due to trading DJ. There is no #1 WR on the roster, but someone will line up at the #1 position. The 3 best WRs are Adam Thielen, DJ Chark, and TerraceMarshall Jr. Red alert. That is not good at all. That is why it's known we don't have a #1 WR. What is going to happen? If we don't select a #1 WR in the draft, then DJ Chark will be sent out to the #1 WR position. What about the draft? We need to see if there is a #1 WR we can snag, or a #2 WR or slot receive who would be an upgrade from what we have now. So you go DJ Chark versus (#39 draft pick). Who do we like? Who could play #1 WR better than DJ Chark in this draft, and who will be there at #39 and be our long term #1 WR? Ummmmm...... trade up? We're probably taking B.J at 39 imo.

For anyone wondering who I think the Panthers are going to take at QB, it's Bryce Young. CJ might not even go in the first couple of picks imo. I like CJ, but I just have a feeling teams are not as high on him.
