Time to Silence the Panthers Bot Again?
pantherj replied to Luuuuuuuuuuke59's topic in Carolina Panthers
The bot is good so long as we're looking decent. If this team poops the bed again then the bot should go back on the banned list imo. -
Moton, for his size, has been unbelievably healthy over the course of his career. He's not playing as well as he used to, but he's had a great career. Being over the cap is kind of astonishing. No CMC, no Burns, Young on a rookie deal, no flashy superstars. I think this is the all time low point of the franchise. Even with Pickles we were dreaming about drafting Andrew Luck, and then Cam. There was plenty to be excited about back then. Now? We've got a long 17 game season of Bryce Young, and Dan Morgan trying to find a QB in the upcoming draft. I'm not feeling good about the situation at all.

Welcome back Ian Thomas... I guess. Hopefully we can get some production out of Miles Sanders this season. Zavala was horrendous last season, so he needs to step it up. D.J who knows? A lot of question marks going into this season, but Young will decide our fate.

How long will the Carolina Panthers rebuild take?
pantherj replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
I remember that Fitt slogan, and the red laser beam eyes whenever he signed a player or after a draft pick. Those lasers burned our franchise to the ground. I'm not happy with our last draft, but I don't have any ammo to really go after Dam yet. Do I have confidence in Dan atm? Meh. I'm hoping for the best and prepared for the worst. -

Fitt did a tremendous amount of damage and we knew it at the time. Passing on incredible deals, and trading a lot for proven losers. You can't do that and not kill this franchise for a long time. The past mistakes have cooked this franchise. No one wants to come here, and they're right for staying clear. Dan Morgan is our new best hope for the future. He has to identify, along with his scouts, a new QB and players who will give us a functioning offense by modern standards. We have to be able to pass at a high level consistently. Period. Anything else is a secondary priority that be easily addressed. Dan is going to be judged by his QB hunting. Fitt brought us proven losers to play QB, and traded the farm for a 5'10 little guy. Not good enough, and he was rightly fired. Dan knows he will have to find a QB. We all know that at this point. Yes Young could suddenly turn into an amazing franchise QB, but that is highly unlikely. Young being a little bit better doesn't mean anything. You have to move on after this season if he doesn't a make a big leap forward. 2025 Dan will select a QB imo, and that will be the start of his rise or downfall. Our rebuild begins whenever we have a great QB on the roster. Once you have that, then you build around him. Building around Young doesn't mean anything imo. Young's deep ball is miles off target, his roll outs make me want to stop watching Panthers football, and he just doesn't do much overall. He's just out there killing time. Killing my Sunday. The rebuild hasn't even started imo. -
Panthers Greatest 1-year Wonders List

My mindset going into each draft is to draft o-line and receivers high until we have a functioning passing offense. To take a RB high was an odd choice, but it's no comparison to Fitt's franchise ruining blunders. The ultimate nightmare is if he ends up being injured a lot. At the time I wanted to keep CMC and trade Burns to the Rams instead, but we had a terrible GM. I have no confidence whatsoever in this team, but I'm also ready for more Panthers football. We've missed out on so many playoffs that these off seasons feel longer. Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.

The sound of the a/c running in the background....

So bad. I don't know what teams we're going to beat, but it can't be more than a few. Unless Young suddenly explodes or something. I don't see it.

5-12 seems likely imo. We don't have the weapons on offense, and Bryce is limited in what he can do. The defense is nothing special. We're going to run into the usual couple terrible teams, and throw in a fluke win against a decent team. If we win more than 5 games, then Bryce will have done more than what I'm expecting.

The Panthers have a true magician on the team
pantherj replied to Lame Duck's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ian has pretty good speed, but his blocking is horrendous, and his hands have been unreliable in the past. If he starts catching the ball the ball then that's great. -
Young is the game manager type who needs an awesome team around him to have a good season imo. We don’t have that obviously. We’re rebuilding, so my expectations are through the floor. I’m not that excited for this season, but I’ll still watch all the games and come in here and complain.

Xavier Legette tweaked his hamstring
pantherj replied to flagfootballcoach28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Please don't be one of those guys who has hamstring issues a lot like Terrell Owens. I was leaning toward a 1 or 2 win season with Legette healthy. If he has injury issues I'm thinking 0 wins. (Kidding.. kind of) -
There is definitely a feeling that I'm looking to have with Young. A good QB has a vibe that isn't related to stats. You start to feel like "if we add this piece here, or that piece there, we'll have something." Last season the feeling was we needed a brick wall o-line and prime Magetron and Smitty to do something. Yeah I'm not even going to look at stats.

We all know the NFL is set up to make it easy to pass the ball and score TDs. This season is make or break for Young imo. We need to be moving the ball through the air and score passing TDs and having fun. If it feels like a miracle to complete a medium to deep pass, or a passing TD, then your QB is not good. He has this season, and then we need to look for a QB in the 2025 draft if he poops the bed like Amber Heard. This is it.

Anyone could clearly see right out of the gate that our offensive play calling was horrendous. Anyone. The fan base was expecting secret plays that we were holing back during preseason to catch the opposition by surprise. That didn't happen. We got old recycled plays from the early 2000's that were embarrassing and didn't even come close to working. Then to make matters worse, we KEPT calling the plays that didn't work and looked awful OVER AND OVER again for weeks. Team after team knew what was coming, and what was coming was idiotic. The quadruple deep hook route was the worst of it because it led to a sack of bad pass 100% of the time. We were not call plays to set up the defense, but rather we were calling plays in a vacuum as though the previous failed plays didn't happen. Didn't matter what the opposing defense was doing, we just kept calling mediocre 00's plays that no one else was running. No one got open. Then, like a blind squirrel finding a nut, a play would work by accident, and Young would throw a turkey to nowhere, or not even notice guys were open. Young was a nightmare. Weak, confused, and rolling out the right to throw a turkey to the sidelines or nowhere. Over and over and over again. Opposing safeties were confusing Young with motion and by baiting him, but the worst part was his noodle arm. Overcranking deep passes to mars that would have been TDs with a better QB was soul stealing to see. What now? We're just trying to not have a disastrous 24' season. Just hope for improvement from Young, and good play calling. Maybe we can get 4 or 5 wins. Keep your expectations low, and if Young becomes a star you can be thrilled. The odds are low.
