I would rate Brown's play calling as (F-). Frank's calls are (D+), so yes this is a big win for our pitiful franchise. Of course this is about Brown and his terrible play calling Frank. Who are you kidding?

The boss at practice today with eyes on the OL

Tepper is a billionaire megalomaniac who knows next to nothing about football but wants his hand in every pot. I guess that's slightly better than our last owner who wanted his hand on every denim covered butt. -

Furthermore, if I see video of Nicole Tepper, who probably has the IQ of a McChicken sandwich, out there talking to the o-line, then I'm taking a week off from the Huddle. -

I'd rather stick with the power running scheme until we can trade the o-linemen who don't fit and replace them in the draft and free agency. Why immediately switch running schemes with no way of replacing the o-line so quickly without a fire sale and scrambling? Why immediately switch to a 3-4 when you can stick with the 4-3 until when have the right pieces in place next season? Of course we can stitch to the schemes that the new coaching staff wants to run, but did it have to be right out of the fugging gate? It didn't work. It's not working now, it's not going to work for the rest of the season. Why not just switch back to power running? The guys already know how to do it, and the play calling has been F- so far, so it's not like the new plays would be worse. Fitt has been my nightmare for some time now, but a lot of our more recent troubles this season can be pinned on the coaching staff. Our OC will certainly be fired soon, and our plan going into this season was nothing short of idiotic. Move away from power running, pass a lot more, let the rookie QB make unlimited audibles at the line and throw a million short passes, and pass the offense over to a glorified RBs coach after the bye week. If you knew that was the plan going into this season, what would you have said would happen? -

The offense doesn't function. The move was to trade Burns for two 1sts and a second, and unload ALL defensive vets who are, will eventually be, pricey. CMC comes off the books, and you load up the offense with everything you've got. Fitt didn't make the trade, so now we have to make moves in free agency. The only thing that matters next off season is the offense. We can't evaluate Young if he's surrounded by a bad offense. Burns is irrelevant so long as the offense on the field is totally incompetent. A sack every other game from Burns means absolutely nothing whatsoever. Burns is the icing on the cake for a "win now" team that has an open Super Bowl window. We're facing a critical situation. Right now we're the worst team in the NFL thanks to Fitt, or if you prefer, Tepper. We're rock bottom due to way too many roster building mistakes, but things CAN get much worse. Young has been battered and humiliated all season, but he's not PTSD ruined completely yet. If we don't fix this offense in the off season, then Young is going to be completely traumatized and ruined beyond repair. Priority #1 - We must retool the o-line to allow for better pass protection. Proirty #2 - We must have at least one dominant pass catcher added to the roster, preferably #1 WR. 1 and 2 must happen no matter the cost. I don't care who we trade on defense. Priority #3 - Thomas Brown must be fired. He is the worst OC the Panthers have ever had by a long shot. It's not even close. We run the worst plays I've even seen since the 1990s.

We've made too many roster mistakes. We have the wrong collection of players with bad contracts, bad for us, good for them. 1.) Bozeman and Corbett have bad contacts. 2.) Moton is washed up. 3.) Icky is a bust. That combination of problems has made average pass protection an impossibility, and it's a poor use of resources. Christensen being injured is not helping matters. Things are so bad with the o-line that it looks like a college line versus a pro defense. Fitt has locked up Bozeman, who looks fat and sloppy, long term. And, in classic Fitt fashion, Corbett was restructured after blowing out his ACL. He playing like poop btw (spoiler). This is a complete disaster that can't be fixed or even patched up. You could do some things next season out of desperation. You could move Christensen to LT, Icky to LG, and pray that shores up the left side. Honestly you have to throw up your hands in exasperation at this situation. We can't pass block. When we finally do execute decent pass blocking, Young throws the ball like he has PTSD mixed with a noodle arm and a side of rookie blunder. This is the worst case scenario. Our OC is the worst I've ever seen in my life of watching NFL football. I would take any OC over Thomas Brown. Never in my life have I seen so many basic, ill advised, outdated, idiotic play calls in a single game as I did in the Colts and Bears games. No one has ever two games in a row that poorly on offense in modern (after the 5 yard no contact rule) times. If there is a worse OC then you'll have to convince me. "Hey everyone go run a hook route to the first down marker." All of us coach? "Yes." Some of us take a month to run a hook route. "DO IT!" - Thomas Brown. I am certain Thomas Brown is going to be fired. In fact, if we don't fire him by next season, then I will stop posting on this forum until he's fired. Oh to get back on topic, we should run play action pass.

Frank leaves the door open to taking back playcalling duties
pantherj replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
Frank is obviously a better play caller, but that's not saying much. Most fans could have called better plays than what we saw last night, and I'm not being hyperbolic. -
Guess the PR Panthers headline tomorrow
pantherj replied to scpanther22's topic in Carolina Panthers
Frank takes blame says "I was too slow getting the plays to Bryce." When reminded he wasn't making calls responds "I forgot I wasn't making calls." -
His ceiling is a lower tier game manager. His floor is backup QB. I can't see how he could ever be an upper tier QB no matter what we do as a franchise for him. We'd have to have a god-tier roster to help him put up great numbers.

"Young learns not to throw pick 6s. Problem solved. We're making strides." -
I'd be ok with anyone being fired, or all of them. I would think Fitt would be most nervous because early signs are that Young is a massive bust.
-
Tepper after this game.
-
If I were HC Young would have never thrown that second pick 6 and we would be in scoring position with Dalton after the Colts busted coverage. This game was so winnable.
-
We win this game with Dalton if he had started. And we would have won with Teddy as well.
-
Should have benched him for Dalton like I warned about earlier.
-
This o-line.
-
I'll turn the game off.
-
Special teams coach is looking very nervous.
-
Mercifully no.
-
Our big o-line and the Colts smaller quicker defense is an advantage for us running the ball. We could have totally beaten this weak Colts team, but you saw what happened in the 1st half.
-
Are you serious?
-
Young plays way worse than Teddy. Teddy would win this game.
