  1. Whoever did those CBS football jersey graphics put in work. That was nice.
  2. Our secondary coverage is as loose as a wizards sleeve.
  3. Anyone on this team is on the trading block for the right price imo. The hard reality is that even with a good o-line, veteran QB, and decent weapons we're still the worst team in the NFL. That's when you know it's over for the next couple of seasons, so ANY advantageous trade should be taken imo. Now Morgan and Canales are fighting for their jobs, so they'll want to hang on to productive players and may pass on a sweet deal. Like Fitt passed on two first round picks for Burns because he had a win now gotta' save my job mentality. Drop a Steph Curry QB into place and we're winning. It was a fantasy. We need reality. I want a GM like Gettleman but with actual draft evaluation abilities.
  4. It's a good move imo. They are in win now mode so load up the roster and to hell with the future. The future is Rogers retiring and rebuilding. Know where you are in the process. It's all in time for the Jets. Us? It's move the team to Toronto time.
  5. I'm not opposed to a bridge QB, but if there is a rookie QB in the 25' draft we like snap him up of course. The o-line is solid when healthy, and the depth is good as well. It would depend on what the rookie looked like in practice as to if I'd want him to start the 2025 season. If he's looking shaky in practice, then out comes the bridge QB to start the season. No need to traumatize the rookie, but all people are not the same. Some guys can start as a rookie and excel. Just depends on who we land and how they respond to NFL level competition and that's an on the fly kind of thing to decide of course.
  6. I think you take a QB in the upcoming draft so long as Canales wants him of course. To pass on a QB because "experts" don't think it's a good class makes no sense. Experts thought Young would be good. Pull the trigger again and see what happens. To wait until 2026 for another rookie QB is just plain depressing. Try try try again. We also need to start getting younger and unloading some vets. Expensive journeymen who are being overpaid will lead us nowhere. On a positive note we're at rock bottom. This is as low as we can be imo. Get this season over with and start the rebuild.
  7. Yes it certainly wasn't just D.J and the defense wasn't even lining up properly, so that would have been an L no matter what. However, I didn't want D.J going off because it made the loss feel worse. It was a reminder that Fitt really screwed up, and here it is shoved in your face. Here's D.J gloating and running around in the endzone. If anything stop him and we'll have someone else beat us. Can't even manage that. Unreal.
  8. Fitt made way too many devastating decisions in the draft and FA during his time here. We can't recover from those mistakes anytime soon. We're basically building from scratch. We need everything outside of a couple of positions. Luvu wouldn't be doing much of anything in this defense. Our defense literally doesn't know how to line up or what play is being called. They are guessing and completely confused. They signal to one another and many players don't know what is being signaled. They're totally lost, and Luvu wouldn't fix that or change the locker room. Yes I'd like to have Luvu, but we'd have had our asses handed to us regardless. Our needs are devastating to contemplate. Despite trading the farm we still may need a QB. If that wasn't bad enough, we still need a #1 WR. Think that's bad? We need an elite pass rushing OLB. And those are just the critical expensive needs that take multiple seasons and luck to acquire. We may be the worst team in the NFL, and we clearly have the worst defense in Panthers history after the key injuries. The ship is completely sunk and Fitt is the one who hit the iceberg. Switching from Young to Andy is like rearranging chairs on the titanic. Yes Andy is better, but outside of the Giants game we're not winning another game imo. How could we when the team is gutted? C.J Stroud looked like an awesome prospect at the time. Young looked physically limited to say the least. Even so, we had a pile of mistakes by Fitt already weighing the team down before the Young debacle. D.J going off against us was just salt in the wound Fitt left on this franchise. You'd think our defensive "coordinator" would put a plan in place to have D.J blanketed in coverage because everyone: knew full well that this was D.J's big moment to show us up. You knew the Bears would give him special attention in that game. You knew it. I knew it. We knew what was coming. The Bears and Panthers knew the optics and the personal score to settle. Yet what did our "coordinator" do? You saw the results. I hate these players. I hate these coaches. I hate our owner and his idiotic "Steph Curry" speech about Young. If I could clear out everyone and completely start over I'd snap my fingers and make it happen. This team is aaaasssssssssss and the coaches appear clueless. No identity. Confusion. Slow. Weak. Can't tackle. Bad pursuit angles. Busted coverage. You name it. It's over. And it's not back on next season. It's over next season as well. We're YEARS away from making any kind of noise. At the time I was screaming for Fitt to take the 1st round picks. There were so many shocking mistakes that we could only have landed here, and nowhere else. Are there reminders all over the place. Yes. Would you need a lobotomy to forget about all of Fitt's mistakes. Also yes.
  9. It depends. If the Red Rifle performs well for most of the season, then in the draft I'd take a #1 WR in the first, and a center in the 3rd. Later rounds are more for depth at weak positions and I'm not ready to do mock drafts yet. The reason for taking a WR #1 is to give us a functioning offense when we're facing a good defense with tight pass coverage. You defeat tight pass coverage by having a WR who can win 50/50 balls, and get decent separation from top DBs. That way teams like the Bears can't blanket our WRs and shut down our offense. Priority 1 is to ensure that the offense can function against any team. That keeps every game watchable and even entertaining. The defense is the worst in Panthers history. I'm aware. Later round picks can be used to add depth to the defense, and any cap room can be used to bring in an OLB and ILB. The safeties will have to suck for the time being, and the other non-Horn CBs as well. We have issues all over the defense. Everywhere. However, the refs favor offense, and we need to get the ball in the air to rack up pass interference calls and score exciting TDs. The core of the defense will need to be built around Brown and Horn, but that will have to wait until 2026. Fitt ruined this team so badly that we're looking at 2027 before we might be good again if the Red Rifle can hold up. If Dalton performs poorly overall this season, then we need to take yet another QB in the draft. We'll probably have a top 2 pick, so we could move up one spot if we see a QB Canales wants. It's really all up to Canales at to which QB we need, and where to take him. If Canales doesn't like the top QBs, then I'd look at OLB with out 1st pick. We desperately need to create a pass rush, and that starts with an elite OLB. 3rd round I'm looking for a center to solidify the o-line to protect Young, or a new FA QB, or whatever the hell Canales wants. Andy decides what I'd do, and his season isn't over yet. He can still win the starting spot for 2025, but it's not looking great at the moment. Plenty more games though.
  10. Yeah the offense will need to step it up if we're going to get #1 worst defense of all time. Teams need to be trying to score in the 4th, not killing the clock.
  11. Welp 1-16 is coming into view. Our one main strength just became a weak spot. We were not headed to the playoffs obviously, but with all these injuries it's looking like we won't even have 3-4 wins now. We had a weak roster at the start of the season, but now we're a bottom 3 team.
  12. Our defense is severely lacking in talent, but I'm glad you brought up the incompetence due to inexperience. I should have mentioned that icing on the cake. Horn was fired up, but he's not exactly what he once was in his prime. Not saying he isn't still young and talented, but he's not exactly the same imo. I like his passion though and he's our best defender.
  13. I can't think of a Panthers defense that is as bad as this one. The tackling attempts are painful to watch. The slowness. Zero pass rush. Worst Panthers defense ever? I think so. On offense it really comes down to who we are playing. Tight defense in the secondary, good pass rush, good run defense, and we're cooked. Dalton isn't good enough to handle that, and we don't run the ball enough even when it's working. Canales wants to run a lot of his pass plays to try and scheme people open, but the Bears locked him up. That's when you run the ball if you know what's good for you.
  14. Dalton was up against tight secondary defense, and a lethal pass rush. That's asking a lot of any QB, and Dalton is ordinary and old. He can't be the world beater who just makes one amazing pass after another. On a good team he can steer the ship. On a bad team we're dead in the water. We have a horrendous team. Just look at the defense. Pass coverage looser than a wizards sleeve, zero pass rush, and terrible tackling. On offense we have journeymen WRs who can't get open and win 50/50 balls against top quality secondaries. They can get open against lower tier secondaries, but that's no the Bears. They had them covered tightly. Dalton is not Mahomes. He's not superhuman. You're asking too much. One hard throw after another is a recipe for disaster. He can't keep that up, and Young can't do it either. We basically have the worst defense in Panthers history. On offense we can only cook if we're facing a lower tier defense. Once the we face tight coverage and a solid pass rush we're in deep trouble, and the defense couldn't bail out an ounce of water. The defense would allow a 50 burger if the opposing team wanted to go for that instead of killing the clock. 50 burger defense means our offense has to look amazing, but overall the roster is poop. What to do? Young is still on the team. It looks to me like we're keeping him. If that's the case, then we might as well put him in and see what happens. This team, with this defense, has no chance whatsoever of making the playoffs. There is no way. But can Young make a comeback? I say use this season to find out. We know this is another dreadful lost season. We know it's over. Find out about Young, and move on if he doesn't show improvement. Dalton can be good on a good team, but he's only ordinary and getting older. We need a couple of off seasons to rebuild this roster. By the time we're ready to go it will be too late for Dalton. I hate it, but this is the aftermath of Fitt's mistakes. This can't be fixed anytime soon. We're cooked, but we can find out more about Young. Might as well, and if he's terrible all season then it's easy to trade him.
  15. Yeah if I had to rate the post Cam era: Dalton Bridgewater Mayfield Darnold Cooked Cam Young Just a crazy time of spinning our wheels and accomplishing nothing, and then last ass backwards into the Red Rifle.
  16. Yeah Andy is a good leader and his QB play is acceptable. He can finish his career here, but this defense is yeeeeeessshhhh. Happy for Andy. He's doing all he can with what he has available. We just don't have the roster.
  17. The thing about Young being benched is that now we know exactly what we have talent wise. We have no pass rush, and defenders who miss too many tackles and allow too much YAC. On offense we have good interior pass protection, so-so exterior pass protection, WRs who are decent but don't win enough on 50/50 balls and have inconsistent hands. Taken all together, along with other factors, and you have a lower tier team that isn't rock bottom, but isn't going to sniff the playoffs. The top priority now is obviously to improve the pass rush in the 2025 draft. Fitt was an awful GM, and too many of his draft picks didn't pan out. We should have traded Brain Burns for two first round picks, and kept CMC. This team with a healthy CMC is close to making the playoffs imo.
  18. I'd trade him for a 1st, but no way in hell for a 2nd and some scraps. No thanks. We have WRs who can produce right now, and an aging QB. Don't take Dalton's weapons away with the idea of slowly bringing some rookies in to learn. If Dalton is clicking with a vet, then the vet stays unless we get a crazy offer. 1st round pick would be a crazy offer, but anything less and hell no to that.
  19. Zavala worries me. He was beyond horrible in the past, but I'm hoping he's improved. If you're going to keep an eye on anyone it's Zavala.
  20. So we're still below the Raiders? I think not. I just want competitive games. Stay in the fight and make it interesting to watch. I don't think Dalton can keep playing at the level of the Raiders game, he'd be league MVP and we'd win the SB, but if he can give us like 80% of that going forward, then we can have a good season.
