Expect Darrisaw to go soon.
-
Best o-lineman left is Darrisaw.
-
Alex going this high is bad news for us.

Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select CB Jaycee Horn
pantherj replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fans think Horn is going to come in and lock receivers down like Dion Sanders. LOL. It's 2021. Your CBs only look decent if you're passing game and pass rush are on point. Otherwise you're in for hell on Earth watching your #8 pick CB get roasted in the 4th. -
Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select CB Jaycee Horn

Wait until you see grabby Horn after Darnold has thrown too many picks. It's going to be a nightmare. Flags everywhere, and Panthers fans wanting Darnold dead. -
Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select CB Jaycee Horn
pantherj replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we take Horn at 8 then we're going sub.500. We don't have the o-line to protect a terrified Darnold (he throws picks and turkeys when he's scared) and we're not getting what we need in the later rounds. You have to think passing offense first. The rest is secondary, including the secondary. It won't matter at all when Horn is racking up pass interference calls in the 4th quarter against Brady. You'll want to bust your tv watching that. We have to be much smarter than that. -
Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select CB Jaycee Horn

I just saw on the PFF live-stream they had us taking Horn. If we do that then we deserve to lose. -

What Are You Going To Be Upset About If We Draft A
pantherj replied to OceanPanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't want any defensive players at 8. We need to land a LT, freak TE/WR, or trade down. I don't see us taking a QB at this point. -
Maintaining perspective on draft day
pantherj replied to TheMostInterestingMan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I come here for 3 reasons. 1.) Panthers news. 2.) Intelligent football analysis. 3.) Hot take freak outs I don't want to lose reason 3. Feel free to freak over our draft picks. -
In most of the mock drafts I've run the value for us was offense in the 1st, defense in the 2nd and 3rd.

Patriots have talked to the Panthers about a draft day trade
pantherj replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've been saying for the better part of a month that we might trade with NE. They might want Lance, Fields, Chase ect. -
I don't remember the source either but I heard the same. Grapevine says the Panthers see Slater as a OG.

If I feel certain of anything in this draft it's we're taking a OT in the 1st or 2nd round.

I love the second round of this draft, so if we trade down I'll be happy if we get a second. I don't know Fitterer and Rhule's blueprint for building this team, and in what order they plan to address positions. That makes it impossible to really venture a good guess if we'd spend a 1st on a CB right now with the o-line lacking a LT. Fox/Hurney went Jordan Gross in 2003, and then Chris Gamble in 2004. LT > CB. Our marquee players are CMC and DJ. They have to explode for this team to win. A LT helps protect our QB who might be seeing ga ga ga ghosts, and helps CMC as well. I think 2022 will be our #1 CB draft year. We do need someone to slow down the lethal WRs we face in the NFCS. We can't go through 2021 with this being the narrative: "Darnold would be good if the Panthers protected him. They're ruining Darnold just like the Jets." That can't happen. No CB is worth that. The ball goes all over the field in the 4th quarter no matter who you have at CB. Fix the passing offense first.

Joe Person on Panthers plans for #8 pick
pantherj replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
CB Kelvin Joseph might be around with our second pick. He covered 1st round prospect Devonte Smith well. -

It's not Huddle lore. Rhule said in an interview after Marty was fired that he was interested in trading down and Marty taught him that when your guy is there you need to take him (referring to Brown). Something to that effect. -

If we don't the QBs available 8 (if any) then trading down for an extra second round pick would be fantastic. The second round in this draft is loaded with awesome prospects. -

Good rule of thumb, if the source isn't cited, then you can guess who the source might be. -

Sports journalist's generic list of lies for the Panthers draft (2021 close your eyes and point edition): - Sources tell me the Panthers are going to make a big trade to go up to draft Wilson. - Sources tell me the Panthers will stay put and draft a WR. - Sources tell me the Panthers are high on Fields and want him at 8. - Sources tell me the Panthers want to trade down because they need more picks and don't like the QBs. - Sources tell me the Panthers _____________ -

These articles are made up on the spot. Please don't try and make sense of all of them. They all say something different because it's all fiction. -

If Trey is there at 8, then I could see NE wanting to trade with us, or Fields would also generate interest. Chase or Sewell might light the phones up. If we don't like Lance, and Sewell is gone then that's a tough position.
