Baker doesn't have enough control over his passes. Too many of them are scattershot for him to be considered a good QB. I'd actually rather have another season to see if Darnold can improve than lost a 1st round pick for Barker who I 100% predict will be bad. If we give up our 1st in 2023 then I can't watch this team anymore until Rhule is fired.

If they trade our 1st round pick in 2023 for Baker then I am leaving the forum until Rhule is fired. If they trade our 2022 1st round pick then I'll be mad, but I'll stick around.

Kenny Pickett > Malik Willis (at least for us)
pantherj replied to janderson20vt's topic in Carolina Panthers
I know people are disagreeing about me not liking Pickett for not making his reads. What Pickett will do is not even see an open receiver, and then scramble and make a great throw to a receiver who wasn't the main target. In college that is wonderful. In the pros that is a very different situation. -

He nearly hit a cameraman when he went deep against Tenn. When he misses deep it often will sail way too far. -

Teddy has a weird way of throwing which makes his passes a little slower and in that sense they look different, but their game looks the same to me. -

Yeah some guys are disagreeing, but it looks very clear to me. Yeah Teddy was lucky to even come back. -

Who does Pickett remind you of? -

Teddy was pick 32 in the first round. That makes me think Picket, with his superior scrambling, should also be a first round pick. -

He reminds me exactly of Teddy except he can run really well. -

You want Pickett to take the top off the defense, and if he were good at that you'd see him go number one overall. He's is not good at that. He is Teddy 2.0 but with much better scrambling and throwing on the run imo. Teddy and Pickett will both move the ball down the field with their good medium and short passes. The thing is Teddy is now a backup. You have to do more. -

Pickett is not all bad. I love his scrambling and mid-range and short passes. Pickett reminds me of Teddy Bridgewater if Teddy could scramble really well. Pickett is Teddy but with great legs imo. -

Pickett doesn't like it when the safeties are moving up and down pre-snap. He becomes conservative when he sees that. -

He has deep ball problems too. He is waaaay off like Sam on many deep throws. -

Pickett was told he'd e a 5th or 6th round pick and that's why he went back to school. Even with all the time he's been playing QB he's still not good at processing things. The things is this is a bad draft for QBs, so desperate teams will want to take a shot. -

Pickett reads the right half of the field against more competent defenses, and throws to the guy he's eye ahead of time, or checks down. Watch Pickett against Tennessee. Pro defense will eat him up. -

We will know soon enough assuming he comes here. -

Mac Jones is more cerebral and makes his reads at a high level. Pickett is like a one read check down QB. -
None of these moves matter without our franchise QB
pantherj replied to Kraybrothers's topic in Carolina Panthers
We're in a terrible position because we're without a decent QB. Want to know which teams will be rock bottom in the upcoming season? The Panthers and the other teams that don't have a QB. Even if we draft a 2022 QB, they are check down QBs. They'll look like Sam out there, or even worse. This is a QB league, and the QB shows you what will happen to your team. Line up the best QBs and there are your best teams. Line up the worse QBs and there are your worse teams. We're epic bad until we land someone great or draft one of the quality prospects in the 2023 draft. My point is that 2022 is basically a lost season that is useful only in that we did some rebuilding. That would change if we land a really good QB, but that seems very unlikely at this point. -

Unfortunately Tepper, Rhule, Fitt, and our other scouts don't know how to evaluate QBs. So we're basically taking a wild guess that Pickett will be good enough to be our franchise QB. Maybe we take Pickett and he pans out, but he looks like a future clipboard holder. I sure as hell hope not. -
REPORT: Armstead is between Chicago, Miami, and Carolina.
pantherj replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is what happens when you have a team led by guys who are not that bright. First, they failed to fix the o-line problem that clearly existed last season, now they go into overkill mode and try to spend too many resources on the problem. Classic Panthers blunder. On the other hand, we're not really in trouble unless we draft a 2022 QB. I'm somewhat ok with this overkill, but just don't draft any Pickles level QBs in this draft. -

My gut tells me 3 tackles will go off the board before we pick, either that or I've eaten too much for breakfast. We could be looking at a top DE or CB falling right into our lap. That would help us to trade down if we don't pick a mediocre QB. -

I sure as hell hope this isn't evidence that we're looking to draft a QB at 6th. The 2022 QB class looks like a collection of backup QBs at the pro level. Those guys are going to be holding clipboards. -
We'll do cheap trade for Minshewmania.
