Panthers will win on Sunday (guaranteed)
pantherj replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
The players and coaches surely know that the Saints are one of the worst teams we'll play this season. We're going to come out desperate and angry to get a win any way possible. Well we won't stoop so low as to take out their outside ACLs, but anything legal is on the table. This is our must win to get to 5 wins game, and Winston is mediocre. Get ready. -
Didn't Little's o-line coach here get fired because the entire o-line made no improvements whatsoever that season?

CMC limited in practice (ankle) but expected to play
pantherj replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Teams that are ready to make their SB run over the next few seasons might be interested in CMC for a fair deal. We'll be lucky to win 6 games, so having CMC is just wasting his career from an achievement perspective. We should be open to trading any vet for a fair deal. This team has not gelled into anything worth watching on Sundays, and the playoffs will certainly not see the Panthers involved. CMC is not practicing on Wednesdays in an effort to keep him fresh and lessen the chance of injury, but the reality is that he has those quick twitch muscles and that wears on your lower body in this brutal sport. I've enjoyed the hell out of watching CMC absolutely drag the rest of the NFL, but we're clearly headed nowhere. Send him to a winner and let's plan for the future. Possibly one of the biggest events in Panthers history is right around the corner with the 2023 NFL draft. Trading CMC would give us extra draft capital to move up if we're not high enough to snag the QB we want. The Saints game is huge for us because the threat is that we might actually beat them. I don't want to lose draft position over a meaningless win, but I understand if wins want the win and think we're headed to the playoffs. We're not imo, but it's fine if you still want wins. -

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he gets canned. That seems reasonable what you're saying. -
Your daily Laughing coaching staff press conference (9/22)

If I could choose between 5 wins or 2 wins I'll take 2 for draft position. I think the Saints and Falcons are both trash, so we'll be in ugly close games against them just like our last two games. In that case, I think we'll split with them both for two wins, with the first of those wins being this Sunday. Now the other factor in more possible wins are fluke games, and teams that have a QB injury before we play them. We're good enough to have a few games where we catch fire and the other team lays an egg and we beat better teams. I think have a minimum of two fluke wins, one maybe against the Steelers, or some team that is unfamiliar with us. That puts us at 4 wins minimum imo. If we have no fluke wins, and no opposing teams riddled with key injuries, and we keep playing poorly, we could have only 2 wins. If you want to go to a home game where we win, then I'd say go this Sunday imo. 50/50 we win imo. -

Yeah you're right it's a 7 year deal. I keep forgetting we gave him an insane deal. It's like my mind won't accept that he got that many years. Some fans were saying last year was it for Rhule, but I said he would stay. I still think he'll have another season after this one. I'm just going by what Tepper said when asked about Rhule. I would fire Rhule near the end of this season. The stadium is full of opposing fans, the team has no identity, and we're headed nowhere. I hope your prediction is correct. I want Rhule out. -

The future for the Panthers is drafting a QB in the top 5 or so in the 2023 draft. The only thing that could change that would be Mayfield somehow catching fire with this offense. That seems impossible at this point because out offense has no identity and doesn't make any sense. Add to that the mind boggling play calling, Icky having pass blocking issues, the o-line lacking power in run blocking on the interior, and the under utilization of CMC in the passing game, and I can't see Mayfield making it. Having said all of that I do think we'll beat the Saints. Our expensive aging vets, Moton, Shaq, CMC, could all be subject to trade depending on if we can find a dance partner. Normally when you bring in a rookie QB I like the team to unload the vets unless they are on the o-line. The rookie will need the best possible o-line so that he isn't injured or psychologically damaged. Will Rhule be allowed to coach the final year of his contract. I think so. Tepper has talked about how it takes a long time to turn things around, but I think 2023 is make or break for Rhule. Corral looked horrendous in the preseason, and yes he was a clueless rookie but still. He looked tiny and too short out there, and his throwing motion made matters worse. Corral will certainly not prevent us from drafting a QB once we jettison Baker, Darnold, and pointless PJ. Flush the toilet, and bring in the future. We can start Corral in 2023 and let our prized rookie learn before we send him out to the wolves. If Corral lights it u and plays like a rockstar, then he's earned the starting spot we're set. The rookie can be the backup until we trade him. If Corral poops the bed, then the rookie takes the reigns. This is how I see our future playing out, or what I hope for anyway. -
Historically the Panthers have liked to drop DEs into coverage. For instance under Fox we would use a fire zone blitz and drop Peppers into coverage, and he got a pick 6 once which was pretty thrilling to watch. It was also just hard to get the ball over him because of his wingspan and leaping ability. Our defense bailed us out against the Giants for as long as they could, but the Giants are terrible so not much of an accomplishment.

Just don't go look up Darnold's stats from the first two game last season and compare them to Baker.
