I don't see any reason to keep Young at all. Trade him for a late pick and move on. Yes he could be a competent backup for a few games but that also takes up a roster spot for another QB with more upside. But even more importantly it just lets us move on from this epic mistake.

I'm sure it was open. It's just that it closed one minute after Cam stepped on the practice field.
-
If it's one of those two guys, it has to be White. It's possible that Hooker would be significantly worse than Young.
-
Whoever is the best FA QB should start next week. Can't believe the locker room is ok with continuing with Young.

Howell seems like one of the more likely reclamation projects. The knock on him is he threw a lot of picks his one year playing. Most QBs do struggle in their first year, and then some of them learn and make adjustments and take care of the ball better. Maybe he could do that. He does have the other tools. So the case for Howell is, he can make plays. He hasn't been bad for more than one year. He can run well when needed. I mean, maybe it's a 25% chance that he turns into a pretty good starter, but that's a better chance than most of the other options out there.

Some will be much better than Bryce. It isn't that hard.
-
Exactly. I know a lot of doomers on this site are sure we'll pick up the option and not bring in competition and that Tepper is too personally invested. But this kind of horrible toothless performance week in and week out won't get him more time. We will have a different QB next year.
-
Then why did he do it?
-
I just had an unpleasant realization, which is the more that we win, the more enraging it is that we have Bryce at QB. Because we could be so much better.

Where would we be right now with a real franchise QB?

That's the thing, he didn't play good. At all. He is one of the worst starters on this team. -
100 percent exactly what I would do. I would lean LB in the first but not get locked in one one position but use it somewhere on defense.
-
Like a bunch of y'all I went to reddit today and yes it's not great. But is the problem them ... or us?
-
Exactly. Thank you.
-
You know you don't have a good argument when you make up what the other person is thinking. Nobody wants a deep ball every other play, but we want that to be something we can do. And I do not plan to shut up so you can shut up if you have a problem with it.
-
The fact that you recognized that we're likely to go back to losing soon is the whole point. Some of us can look beyond unimpressive wins against crappy opponents and realize we're not in good shape for the long haul. And we're doubly frustrated because we think the rest of the team is pretty good and one key position is holding his back.

If Legette can build on this game it's such a waste to have this receiving corps thrown to with Bryce. Need someone who can fling it down field and let them make plays even if they're not necessarily the "best" QB. Like how Daunte Culpeper played with Randy Moss.
-
This is a very good point. Like sure it's easy to not throw many picks when you don't or can't challenge a defense and just let the running game do most of the work.

Bryce Young - High Ankle Sprain, out minimum 1 week

I wouldn't release Bryce. Just throw a late round pick out and see what a different QB can do. It's low risk/high reward.
-
Yes. And here's the thing that made me conclude there is no reason to continue with Bryce. I don't see him ever being able to lead us on a deep playoff run. Not ever. Even if we squeak through it at 9-8 and win a weak division, we're going nowhere in the playoffs because he will never scare any defenses. We're just too easy to defend even if he is playing at his best.
-
Hooker is terrible, Dalton is too old, Bryce's ceiling is Trent Dilfer with no arm. The rest of the team might actually be pretty good. It's a damn shame to waste that by not trying to get a quarterback who might be able to actually do something.
-
The jury is out on Howell. It's in on Bryce. Howell only played one year and did make a lot of mistakes that year just like other QBS have made a lot of mistakes in their first year. Maybe with more experience in a different situation he'll do better, who knows? We do know that Bryce isn't the answer.
-
Very worried about this scenario.
-
I would be happy with whoever we could get for a sixth. I think we should do it even if Bryce is OK.
