  1. It's really very simple. Tanking breeds a losing mentality and disrupts team cohesion, making it harder to shift to a winning mindset in subsequent seasons. Besides, high draft picks come with no guarantees of success. Nothing tops building a winning culture. Create a competitive environment whilst you develop some hungry young guys competitive environment, and build a culture that is founded on sustainable growth. The funniest thing about the obsession with tanking around these parts in recent years, is that this franchise has seen the perfect examples of what winning "pointless games" can do in the long run. 2012: started 2-8, then rattled off 5 wins in the last 6 to close out the year. Following season? 12-4, and a divisional round appearance. 2014: started 3-8-1, rattled off 4 wins to close the year, snuck into the playoffs for another divisional round appearance? Following season? Yeah, you get the picture. There's no such thing as winning pointless games.
  2. Panthers lose games = "ARGHH FIRE EVERYONE, TEPPER, TEPPER, TEPPER!!11!!!" Panthers win games = "ARE YOU STUPID? WE NEED A HIGH PICK!!!!!1!" Sometimes I really do wonder.
  3. "Dan Morgan is an awful GM." But he's not, though.
  4. Firing him won't fix anything in the short term, nor will it speed up the rebuild long-term. Canales is the guy, stick with him and he'll get us there.
  5. I feel like we've gotten a lot better at FA scouting in recent years, particularly those bottom of the roster type guys. That's not to say things are 'good', but do believe things have improved there. College scouting has been a disaster. It's not inaccurate to say that the best piece of talent evaluation at this franchise in the last 5 years was done by Julie Rhule.
  6. The last thing we need to be doing is blowing up the defensive side of the ball and starting from scratch there again next year, just when things are being worked out on offense. Evero deserves an off-season where the focus is on that side of the ball, and not shopping in the bargain bin for cast-offs.
  7. If it weren't for Brown getting hurt, I'd be letting my optimism about this team run wild with the prospect of getting Brooks and Wonnum on the field in the near future.
  8. I've no issue with Tepper being in the room for that game ball moment. Those are the things that I would expect an owner to be doing. Canales is easy to like, that enthusiasm is infectious. With a bit of luck along the way, the man can build a culture.
  9. 5 or 6 wins is a good season from here. Just keep developing some of the younger guys, and demonstrate that there are good pieces to work with going forward.
  10. A great addition. Good energy in any interviews. That OLine can become a foundational piece of the team for the Caneles era.
