Weatherly and Palardy ALSO being released today!
Smithers replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
These two were expected. Should get us to 30 million or more. -
Awful contract by Hurney - more dead money on the books. We only save 1 million, unless it’s post June 1 then we save 3.5

Eagles and Colts reach deal on Wentz trade
Smithers replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Eagles are starting Hurts . And they won’t trade that pick - they will take the best OT available. -
Possibly the craziest draft story you might read
Smithers replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Prob Hurney. Heard he thinks he’s the next Will Grier -
Sign Winston. He at least pushes the ball downfield, has a huge arm, and is mobile. Plus he’s got a year under his belt in the system we run.
-
Hurney putting his stamp on the organization already, by paying a guy who was out of football for a year before coming back to play 1 game (fairly well, but besides the point) a cool 8.75 million (over 2 years) with additional money in incentives. Yikes. https://www.nfl.com/news/washington-qb-taylor-heinicke-agrees-to-two-year-8-75m-extension

Per Joe Person: players Panthers would like to re-sign
Smithers replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
His blocking was on point this season. That’s about all he will ever be -

Frankly he sucked ass the second half of the season. Fell off a freaking cliff and was our biggest liability -
Remmers is getting beat like a drum. Again. Wonder how it feels to completely handicap two of the best offense in the last 10 years in two different Super Bowls.

Jameis Winston starting in NO next year?????
Smithers replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Winston has one hell of an arm and doesn’t mind pushing the ball downfield. His decision making has been questionable, but he’s a starting caliber QB. Wouldn’t mind us making him an offer -
I said a couple months ago that he will go top 10. Still think that is the case.
-
You forgot to throw in Teddy
-
The leverage that exists is Houston not wanting Watson to sit out, losing out in his services plus whatever draft capital they could secure prior to this draft (especially with them not having a 1st rounder). Both sides have something to lose, and gain

The Lone Ranger: What to do with Matt Paradis?
Smithers replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
He played better last year. I’d say keep him, tag Moton, resign Miller, and find a LT and G in the draft/FA -
Matt Rhule continues to show why he's the right guy for the Panthers
Smithers replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just listening to the way he talks makes me want to run through a freaking wall right now. Love this guy -
Also not if an analysis isn’t done as to the impact of those players. For all we know they could be 3rd stringers

NO TO WATSON, NO TO STAFFORD.... YOU WIN THROUGH THE DRAFT
Smithers replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, I’d say the Bucs are fairly happy with their FA QB -
They’ll prob use some loophole that allows them to change the designation of their locker rooms...so the home officially becomes the visitors and Vice versus lol
-
AFC is the home team. So yep- Brady and co will be visitors in their own stadium
-
We actually save a little by cutting Teddy. Still have a lot of dead money, but still some savings. If we make him a June 1 cut, we’d save 8 million
-
Watson not the only big name vet at QB that we're looking at?
Smithers replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Bears gave up their compensatory 4th round pick for Foles. I imagine Stafford could be had for our 3rd and 5th. -
There’s no way Bridgewater is the starter next year, right?
Smithers replied to Kentucky Panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think we will draft a QB round 1 and also bring in Haskins. Grier and PJ are gone. Teddy can be cut, but we will eat 20 mill in dead money while saving 3 million. Can he be traded? Who knows. More likely he will be kept for one more season before being released.
