So you want Fitt to pay Burns 25-30M a season? Before we even see how he does in a 3-4 scheme? His numbers don’t even remotely justify him being top 3 in pay at his position
-
And he whiffs more than any of those other guys. Burns simply doesn’t finish most of his opportunities. Bosa has more sacks and missed basically an entire season. They aren’t in the same league.
-
He’s making 16M this year under the option, which is like top 12 this year. Like I said in the other thread, players agree to the terms of the CBA, including the 5th year option and franchise tag, then want to pitch a fit when they have to play under either. Honestly, 16-18M is prob right for Burns anyways. He’s not top 10. He’s certainly not top 8.
-
It Burns holds out, then every single comment he’s made to the media during camp and preseason is a flat out lie. Don’t spend weeks selling yourself as a loyal man who felt the need to be with the team this year even without a new deal, only to backtrack later. Amazes me how players negotiate and agree to the terms of the CBA, including the highly compensated 5th year option and franchise tags, then complain when they have to play under either.

I cannot remember a single one of our players the Pats took that worked out for them.
-
Tends to be the case. But I remember the media blasting Cam for not being voted Captain his first two seasons
-
All I’ve heard from the Huddle the last 8 years is that you can’t be successful without a stud QB. If that’s the case, we are better than the other 3. I’ll take a rookie Bryce Young all day long over Carr, who can’t connect in the red zone to save his life.
-
I think he was added back to the Ravens PS.
-
Rhule to Nebraska players: “remember, Jay Zs first song didn’t go platinum. Trust the process.”
-
Def need to add someone even if just for emergency purposes. Ian Book wouldn’t be a bad add. He’s young, smart, mobile, and well liked.
-
I get your point for sure. But, I simply don’t see any way Fitt wasn’t help make the calls. A few seconds of video showing Rhule discuss the selection isn’t enough to convince me. I imagine Fitt worked with the team to narrow down a few choices at each pick. Rhule then had the latitude to pick from that list. No way the GM had zero control over who we selected. And his comments today, IMO, affirm that.

Idk - at the end of the day it’s a business and his reputation and career is on the line. Why take the blame for endless failed draft picks (especially when the other guy happily blamed you) unless you had a part in it. I get taking the high road and all, but it’s a sorry frog that doesn’t croak for his own Lilly pad. Especially when your reputation is on the line.

IE - “I had the final call”

Well since we didn’t run a single play during the preseason we plan to run during the season, I imagine it will take weeks for guys to get practice in the scheme. Would have rather we practice that stuff in games that don’t count, but ya know…don’t wanna give any game tape to the Falcons

Yeah, all bad. The TB game was a win and in type scenario basically. Wilks constantly left Henderson on an island giving Evans his best game of the year. And punted the ball twice on 4th and a foot from midfield.
-
Wilks lost the job as a result of that TB game. One of the worst single game coaching jobs that I can remember.
-
This is the riskiest Steve Wilks has ever been as a football coach
-
Oh I agree 10000%. That’s the point I was trying to make. He will easily clear waivers. And likely wind up on the PS as an emergency QB.
-
These comments are hilarious. We just watched the Pats cut Zappe, who outperformed Corral by a mile, clear waivers and get added to the Pats PS. The Panthers saw that and are willing to take the chance that if no one bit on Zappe, they won’t bite on Corral. He will be on our PS. He’s a third round QB. It’s not like we just cut a recent 1st rounder
-
Not like he’s the first 3rd rounder we have parted ways with.
-
Chin can move to corner if needed. I’m sure we will stash a couple on the PS too. But yeah, I wouldn’t be shocked if we add a CB at some point.
-
Agreed. Sullivan and Wright will be the first 2 to go IMO with any new signings. We def need another OL and DL

A look at the roster after final cuts to the 53 man squad...
Smithers replied to KillerKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Likely will. Holding on to them for now pending acquisitions. But I’d say Sullivan and Wright are next to be cut once we sign someone
