We could have traded Burns to Chi and kept Moore, who was already under a bargain long term contract. But nope - now we gotta trade Burns for a WR who we will pay 25M per year. Fitt is legit on the hot seat now.

I’m really curious where each side stands. Is Burns requesting something insane such as 30M with 100+ guaranteed? Or is Fitt standing pat that Burns isn’t worth more than 20M? Wish there were more details known. We aren’t alone tho - Higgans and evans wont be getting new deals it appears. And Jones doesn’t appear close.

Burns obviously doesn’t have all the leverage or he’d have a deal by now. Last season Wilks made due with YGM, Burns and Brown as our top linemen. We still have YGM and Brown, and have Houston who is arguably a more complete player than Burns even at this point in his career. Don’t forget that Luvu had 7 sacks last season as well, and will likely play a big role in this defense. We are better with Burns on the field. But without him, we aren’t any worse off than we were last year.
