This is why my wife hates The Carolina Huddle with a passion: Her: Hi honey how was your day? Me: Not too bad, yours? Her: Well, my bosses boss is in town from London so we all went out to dinner after work and it was free which is always nice but the service wasn't great at the restaurant and it was a far walk in heels so now my feet hurt and...anyways what about your day, anything exciting happen? Me: Well, Deangelo Williams got released from the Panthers and Byron Bell was told he won't be coming back. But the news was first broke by Killa Cam 69 and Mark S and Igo deleted their posts to post the news himself which kind of started this war between the Igo loyalists and the young bloods, so... Her: *fell asleep unsatisfied* Me: back to the huddle I go...

D Will says Panthers didn't reach out to him when his mother died
Montsta replied to QCkilla's topic in Carolina Panthers
Deangelo should be calling out Stewart, Tolbert, Cam, Steve Smith, Thomas Davis, his offensive line and every other player not named Greg Hardy for not showing up at the funeral either, but he won't, because it's easier to score points with simple minded people by just pointing to the big bad billionaire owner for not showing up instead. -
I don't like how in his interview he said nobody contacted him or came to the funeral, then after his exchange with Igo he says ok well yeah management approached me but ownership did not. I hate when people make a big public display saying one thing to get people's attention then say the whole story to a select few. It's sensationalism and really takes away from any case he may have had IMO.

I get some peoples JR hate even though I don't agree with it, but why don't you like Gettleman if I may ask? -
I can't give up steph, but we can do some sort of contest for charity with a prize of these bad boys... And I voted for you Riot!!!

I stopped twittering but that's not a bad haul for one day Igo. Way to plunder the Twitter booty. (Sorry been watching Black Sails and playing Assassins Creed Black Flag all weekend while the wife ran errands) -
Girth is good to an extent. I'm like a hockey puck.

My wife and I often fight over the issue of me not being sensitive to her feelings. If I am mad or upset or feel like she isn't "being there" for me, she knows it immediately. If I am "not there" for her emotionally for something, I don't hear about it until some time much later. She keeps it up her sleeve until a later time like an immunity idol in survivor or a 99 lives contra code. I tell her she needs to let me know immediately so I can try and make up for the error and be there for her, not save it until she's mad at me for something else. Seems like if Big Cat didn't reach out to him it is uncharacteristic and probably not out of malice, but was a mistake just the same. That being said, Deangelo should have gone into his office and told him that his lack of empathy was hurtful. As is so often the case, it seems like better communication on all sides could have prevented any of today's bitterness. -

Honestly I feel like DW needs to just stay away from media, especially social media, until he has had an opportunity to cool down and reflect. I am the damn poster-child of regret for doing things in the heat of the moment and letting my emotions get to me. The Internet is a mean, mean black hole of negativity and hatred and he shouldn't expect a bunch of hugs on there right now. It's only going to get worse and then NFL network and espn will show the tweets and the Panthers are going to be shown as ugly and then the teams PR will have to go on the offensive and just...stop. Just stop DWill and keep your dignity and air this poo out another day if you feel it necessary. -

So this organization builds a statue and a motto for a guy that only played here for a handful of seasons because he exemplified courage; They rally around that player and Mark Fields with a bunch of 51/58 shirts in the 2002/3 season; The owner gives Greg Olsen use of his private jet for his sick family; The coach and GM attend the funeral of CJ's grandmother; They back Deangelo Williams up during his campaign to add pink to uniforms in honor of breast cancer awareness; And then his mom passes and they give him a big fug you? Now I don't think DW is just making things up, but I just can't believe it. We are a middle of the road football team that's never been extraordinary in part because we value high character over high football skill. He also mentioned that he was actually cut last week in his meeting too. -
Could be but I doubt it. Gettleman always says how he is a film guy, and mentioned he hadn't gotten much of a chance to look into film yet. I suppose if between his interview last week and today he looked at a lot of film it's possible.

I can't hit the bottom, but I beat up the sides somethin awful. Girth all day.

I'll go if Igo promises to bring his HD camera and snap pictures of me in my banana hammock for All-Pro Huddlers only. I'll bring football pads and face paint if someone wants to double with me in a "Legion of Doom"-themed shoot.

Panthers and Cam Newton in contract talks
Montsta replied to bLACKpANTHER's topic in Carolina Panthers
There is nothing in Gettleman's history to indicate he won't happily pay a player in his prime his fair market value. Tedd Ginn, Brandon LaFell, Mike Mitchell and even the venerable Steve Smith were all meh players he let go. One could argue that in Gettleman's brief body of work the only player that he has faced with needing to pay that was elite and in his prime was Greg Hardy, and Gettleman paid him while having extremely limited funds. Gettleman will pay Cam what he is worth without crippling the franchise. Cam will be here another 5 years minimum (unless he sucks and gets cut), and that's all there is to it.- 218 replies

DGB Considered "Best WR to Come Out since Calvin Johnson."
Montsta replied to nctarheel0619's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wanted Marcell Dareus or Patrick Peterson. It was in no way because of Cam's history or some sort of 'Cam-hate'. I wasn't sure Cam's skillset would translate to the NFL. However as soon as we picked him I ordered a Cam authentic jersey and framed the USA today issue that had him on the cover of the sports section. I also bought tickets to his first game in AZ to see his first NFL start. Some of us say I want this guy or that guy and as soon as someone else is picked immediately get on board with it. Once you are on the Panthers, you're my guy. If you could see the draft chat room transcript for when we picked Luke Kuechly you'd laugh your ass off. I was raging pretty good in there because we already had an all pro linebacker in Beason. -

I've been wanted one of these guys with a cool name for a while, so I'm on board with this pick. Yes, I do my drafting based on cool names and dreadlocks.- 193 replies

At least we can have civil football discussions here on CH without people attacking one another personally. /sarcasm -

Off-season priorities - #3 Cornerback
Montsta replied to London Loves Luke's topic in Carolina Panthers
Culliver got destroyed in SF's super bowl a few years back, and hates women and gay people. Not sure if the FO looks in his direction but I could certainly be wrong. -
As a Dubs fan of like to throw the Adonal Foyle and Andrus Beidrins contracts in for consideration.

My post wasn't knocking Hardy at all. He may very well be willing to make some concessions to come back, I don't know. I'm saying his trip to the PTO list worked out well for him because even if he does get suspended without pay next season, it'll be at a per game check rate that is significantly smaller than what he would have had to pay this past year.
-
I love Greg Hardy and hope he comes back and plays for the Panthers. He is one of my favorite players and I love that he is insane. But let's not forget something very important. His trip to the commissioners exempt list was negotiated by the league, the panthers, and Hardy's agent. Greg could have said you know what I did it I'm sorry give me a misdemeanor and a deferred judgement where it goes away after 3-5 years if I complete sensitivity and anger management courses and stay out of trouble, suspend me six games without pay, and I'll see you in November. His own agent helped negotiate him getting on the list because he wanted to continue to get paid during this whole thing. Now if he comes back at a reduced salary of say $8MM or signs a 5 year deal with a team where year one doesn't pay him as much, then that was a smart move because then if he gets a suspension, each game check he will lose will be substantially smaller. If you don't think Hardy's lawyers and financial people thought of this well before any of us did you are crazy. He wasn't sitting on the curb on mint street just begging to play because he is so black and blue awesome. This so far has gone down perfectly for Hardy.
