Apparently we all want the OL’s autograph

Sam Darnold press conference after Philidelphia game
ncfan replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
That’s bad right? -
Maybe because the protection was there? The OL the last 2 weeks have been peak pooness. They’ve given up 18 QB hits the last 2 weeks. And could’ve been more had Darnold not scrambled or had those throw away me in the 1st quarter.

Panthers OL was ranked 31st out of 32 teams going into this past weekend. we gave up 47.5% pressure on snaps this weekend

“Sam should get the ball out faster”

No just calling a spade a spade. not apologizing for his play. He didn’t have his best game. Just looking at the situation around him and how other QBs (including elite ones) in his same situation. How would they fare in his shoes. some people on here think this is Madden and just because a guy has a 99 rating he can overcome anything when reality he can’t
-
Mahomes got pressured at a similar rate in the Super Bowl as Darnold yesterday. Chiefs immediately traded their 1st for a LT signed the top OG in FA signed another former probowl all pro OG drafted the top Center in the draft in the 2nd drafted several other OL as some have pointed out in Trey Smith. Now why the heck would the team with the best QB in football invest so dam much on the OL in this offseason if a “Elite QB can overcome bad OL play” like some fans in this franchise claim.
-
This past Superbowl Mahomes was pressured a record 52% of his snaps all the talk was the OL set him up for failure. That was the whole talk. Chiefs then went out gutted and overhauled the OL making some big splash moves including trading their 1st for the LT. Making signing the highest paid OG. Drafting the top Center in the 2nd and so on. That was after that 52% pressure game. yesterday, Sam was pressured 47.5% of the snaps. There are NFL analysts/former Player pointing the issues to the OL. And there are still people trying to pin this primarily on the QB. Some people just don’t get it.

think that falls under the duress what he is saying. Notice the guy up n the left and Sam not stepping into the throw. I personally think that was a bad read. But can pick up what Smitty is putting down
-
Smitty was just on WFNZ - said “there isn’t a QB that would succeed in that duress.” - credited Phillys DL and how they gave the Chiefs DL fits last week. And how considering how much better the Chiefs OL was than ours. - “Sam was pressured so much it turned to Kicked dog syndrome.” Then talked how this doesn’t help when we are trying to rehab him from the Jets situation. - on the ints “One was just a Really good play by the DB (Slay). The other 2 he was under duress and being hit.” talked how we should’ve kept running the ball more with Chuba’s success and the way they were teeing off on Sam.

That’s not even worse than that Miller performance yesterday

Not comparing Cam and Sam. Sam wasn’t good. But all I’ve been told since yesterday that Elite QBs can overcome bad OL. Despite prior to this spring it was the complete flip. Blaming the OL for our best QB in franchise history for the reason he doesn’t have a ring.
-
Not compared the physical Ayer themselves. Comparing the situations situation A “elite generational QB can’t overcome terrible OL play giving up <47% pressure. Fans drool over how their organization completely gutted and overhauled the OL situation B Elite MVP QB couldn’t overcome OL play. Fan base cries for years how this organization failed said player and he doesn’t have a ring because OL player C has bad game. Fans crucify him. Claim that Elite QBs can overcome terrible OL play. let’s throw the names out

Who gives a poo what defense rank is. #5 defense vs #10 OL getting beat or #15 defense vs #31 ranked OL defense rank numbers matter. If that #5 defense pressured the QB 35% of the time while the #15 rank defense pressured 47% are you still pointing out the defensive ranking. mom looking at what’s going on the field not rankings from previous games.
