Again, stats and wins don’t mean crap in scouting a QB. Film does. As others have pointed, the offense is catered to him as well. This combined with his weapons, and you get these #s those #s are nice, but his film still leaves questions and leave concerns.

If I had 4 of the top 5 WRs to come out of the draft in 2 years, the top OL,RB and Defense, sure wins don’t mean crap for scouting a QB see Ken Dorsey, Chris Weinke, and Bama QBs prior to Jalen Hurts

I can hack a few clips of Will Grier at West Virginia doing the Same thing
-
The guy threw to wide as open guys, with all the time in the world. Never shows any escapable or ways to elude pressure. he also didn’t have zip to throw through tight windows. i get people say, look he has a cannon, he can throw it 50 yards etc etc. so could Will Grier. But to have the constant zip and pro arm, he doesn’t have. him being projected in the top 20 is insane literally, the clip from the senior owl everyone is rerunning when talking about how good he is. It’s a 15 yard dump off where the WRs cleared out where no one was within 15 yards from the pass catcher and Mac simply led him. I could do that.

Feel like the cuts are going to be coming in hot. Several happens already today. Plus with FA officially about to start, figured to just make this thread
-
CB think this is a solid CB FA crop.
-
He did say it about Teddy, didn’t think he said that about Shaq
-
Could you imagine the Saints gètting Wilson and us swinging and missing for Fields/Wilson/Lance. And either run it back with Teddy etc. Or draft Mac Jones. Talk ablut a Dark Dark scenario for this organization and its fans. Side note on Russ Wilson though. I am SHOCKED that the Jets aren't rumored here. Him and his wife have said they want a big "market" and NY is about as "big" a "market" that they'll get in the league. Jet's have a the draft capital to make the trade, have a young QB on a Rookie deal who happens to be from USC (Pete Carrol a former USC guy) Jets have the cap to build around Russ.

Yes and No. His play did dip slightly this year but was still one of the better starting OGs this past year. He was like Turner where his contract was bigger than his play and a hinder to the team (thus why they cut him to open cap) That doesn't mean he is going to turn around and sign another big deal. He is easily affordable for us.
-
We still have to Pay Moton, but we're in the top 6-10 in the NFL in cap space.
-
Cap casualty, should be a guy we look at
-
Definitely would consider it. We just open the cap.

https://www.nbcsports.com/edge/football/nfl/player-news/headlines/9986211?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter "King cited a source from a QB-needy NFL team who said Lance's lack of recent play -- he's played one game in the past 414 days -- makes him an iffy selection as a top-10 pick." I swear, if we take Mac Jones in the top 10. Ill be done with Tepper, Rhule, and Fitterer.

Kiper Mock 2.0: Mac Jones to Panthers at #8.
ncfan replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
This was nothing more than a ploy to have him get the Patriots Trey Lance. They had a SC Kiper Mock special yesterday evening including Kiper, some ESPN analyst, and Jim Nagy from the Senior bowl. The Mac Jones pick. After spending several minutes per pick talking about each player. At our Pick, they announced it and immediately stated "we'll get back to the Mac Pick". Then went on to announce the Patriots trade and pick all giddy. They then went on to talk about the 2 picks. The only thing they had to say about the Panthers was Rhule coaching Jones. They then continued to defend Jones stating "its not just about tools in the NFL". "Mac is a smart player." Etc etc. Then they immediately went on to the Lance pick. Their tone and volume and voice grew Super excited. They pulled a 180 talking about how good Lance's "tools" are, not 90 seconds after telling everyone that the "tools didnt matter". One Analyst called Lance a "Freak" and 2 others said Lance is the better player. -
Hard Pass. Was talking with someone who works in the Nasheville area covering sports out there. And hard hard pass here. From some of the stuff he was saying about Wilson this past year. I wouldn't touch him.

Could we be sleeping on Mac Jones? Charlie Weiss says YES.
ncfan replied to SCO96's topic in Carolina Panthers
Charlie Weiss also coached and thought everyone was sleeping on Jimmy Clausen. And some high figures on the big Media outlets were high on Clausen as well while other more credible guys just weren't, just like we are seeing with Jones. -
Because Hurney needed to Win this season to keep his job. And rolling out Grier or PJ, he knew he was a dead man walking. He signed a QB he felt could win this team some games and he could be retained.

But are we really going to fill That many more needs this year that justifies Paying even More for a QB down the road. Yes we may get a top CB this year and not give up next years 1st and 3rd and maybe this years 3rd or 4th. But is that 1 CB that we held out for worth now traded up from said 1st next year (that would be used to move this year for a QB) then the following 1st and potentially a 3rd 1 or a 2nd or 2 similar to the Rams trade up for Goff. At some point your going to have to pay the piper irregardless. You may as well get it while its cheaper.
-
Not a chance This scenario along with CMC returning after being out hurt much of last year. Very Very unlikely we are drafting in the top 10 again. More likely the 12 range. Now some here are getting sticker shock now about what it would take for QB3 this year....... From 8. Now, what do you think it'll look like to move from 12? Its going to be a haul And if your nervous now giving up that much, your're not going to be happy then.

1st: TRADE! Panthers trade away 8, 153, 2022 1st and 3rd for pick 3. 3: Justin Fields- Panthers are rumored to Love this kid. And a Lot of what Fitterer/Rhule is describing, you see Fields. Putting my ear on the ground and listen/reading what they say. I feel very much on this Prediction as my Brian Burns prediction the other year. Fields also reminds me personally of Watson coming out who also fell some despite the tools. The new QB coach we brought in who coached Watson will be a nice Pair with Fields. 2nd: TRADE! Yes again. The LA Rams aggressively trade away 57 and 101 to move up for edge rusher Azeez Ojulari. 57: Richie Grant- Rhule fell in love. You could see the twinkle in his eye. Not only is Rhule the reason for this pick. We talk about Fitterer drafting that Defense for Seattle. And the Defenses identity was the Legion of Boom. The Legion of Boom wasnt just known because Sherman. It was know because the Safety Duo of Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas. You better believe Fitterer will love the Future going forward with Chinn and Grant together in the middle of the secondary. 73: James Hudson- Hudson is a High Ceiling OT prospect who slips into the 3rd with such a deep OT crop this year. Hudson is fairly New to the OT position, the former defensive player made the transition to OT in 2017. He transferred and had to sit out the 2019 season. Finally getting his chance this year in 2020, he flashed. He followed up with a good senior bowl week. Seattle (where Fitterer is coming from) never really hit OL Heavy early. Since 2012, 2 of their 9 2nd rd picks have been OL and only 1 1st rd pick. On par with the Panthers in that time frame. They've hit on FA, Trades, and late rd picks on the OL. Hudson fits that developmental guy this staff looks for 101: Aaron Banks- over a Overall rock Solid OG, who while has a good ceiling, its not quite as high as some of the guys that go before him. Again, falls due to depth of the position. Banks comes right in and can become a impact starter right away on the OL where both of our starters from the 2020 season are FA's 113: Jaylen Twyman- Good Value Pick here. Twyman, some felt he would be a borderline 1st rd DL coming into this season. A little small but good athlete, his stock has dropped some after sitting out this season and some other guys jumping him. We have needed a nice penetrating 3-tech for a while since KK started getting hurt. Brown was a Beast this season, but he also was among the top of the league in Double Teams seen. In comes a guy like Twyman next to him to compliment him, and we're looking at one of the top DL in the NFL, especially if he comes close to his potential. 185: Shi Smith- one guy who had a a good week on Rhule's Senior Bowl roster was Smith. It is Highly unlikely Samuel is back for the Panthers next year. And Smith is a good option to fill that Slot/WR3 role.
