Panthers re-sign one of their UFA
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
A Jansen statue of him bent over hiking the ball at BOA is well deserved and would be a great photo op for fans -
Chubb has the Evero connection and maybe likes NC from his time in Raleigh. He's 1000% someone we should be looking at.
-
No thanks. Not worth the hassle or money at this point IMO.
-
This is the best path forward IMO right now. Try and get a pass rusher with potential in FA, and those guys as the first two picks? Sign me up. We have to get another LT in here in case Icky is done for, for Bryce and/or the next QB. Part of me says screw it, build the defense, get Nijman back for LT, and if Bryce can't make it work, he shows it. But then we're just right back in 2027 probably needing a QB AND a LT. I think LT has to be one of the first 2 picks and we hope he's a good one. Every move right now to me should be about building the team that's ready made for a QB in 2027, whether that's Bryce or another rookie.

Should Dave Canalas be on the HOT seat??
PanthersNCSU replied to Jackson113.2's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm still hesitant to think we would replace Canales. Bryce goes first, Canales gets an extra year to prove it after the fact IMO. But...all the more reason I *think* we're playing this the right way. Keep building the team this year, and then drop a 2027 QB in on his rookie deal, or if we can make a move for a legit Burrow level guy, the team is theoretically built and ready to contend right away. -
BREAKING: Panthers adding to coaching staff
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I do think Canales and the culture building IS legit and why we've improved. I don't think he's out-scheming many if any at this stage. My biggest worry is and will be, when we have expectations and lose...does that culture balloon pop? -
NFL.com mock draft: Panthers trade up for Reuben Bain
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think we would trade up that much the way DM seems to covet draft picks. Although if the right player is there, I can quickly get on board with the "fug them picks" strategy. I'd rather have one elite prospect over one very good, one good, and one okay. But if the trade package involves a future first? Nope. Biggest thing for us, and other teams I think...will be wanting to protect 2027 picks because they're likely going to be like gold due to the QB class. -
BREAKING: Panthers adding to coaching staff

Now if only we could get a defensive coach who's only job is to yell at Evero when he goes prevent for too long. -
BREAKING: Panthers adding to coaching staff
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Needed someone, so I'm at least happy that the team made the move and didn't let Canales continue down the same path. Bevell has worked with short QBs and limited QBs, so, welcome home! As for Brad Idzik...what is it that you do here? -
The Falcons being ahead of us, trotting out injured Penix and probably Dillon Gabriel, is both wild and downright sad (for us).
-
I know it's obviously more than Kon. But whewww boy, when you actually hit on a cornerstone piece in the draft, good things happen. Playing our way out of needing lottery luck this year, and should wind up with 2 1sts in the late teens to low 20 range.
-
Yeah I've been all in on the trade LaMelo bandwagon, and still would for the right price...but don't think you can this season now. We're rolling the dice with his injury history, but if the light switch finally turned on for him, he's here to stay.
-
I like the Coby White addition. Little younger, local guy, and think he *maybe* has more potential than Sexton. Also who knows, maybe Sexton had said he wouldn't re-sign here, whereas Coby may.
-
Where I'm at too. If he comes back at LT, great. If not...he's one of your Guard replacements for Lewis/Hunt and gives the OL flexibility if needed to play OT. Best case, he comes back like nothing happened. More realistic case, re-sign him on a cheaper deal to be the new do-it-all OL and pray he holds up.

Surprise! Wait… Surprise Again! Kon Looks Really Good!
PanthersNCSU replied to TylerDurden's topic in Charlotte Hornets
Would like to see what the Nets wanted for Nic Claxton, or get wild and see what the Pelicans wanted for Trey Murphy. Don't know if we'll rock the boat too much, and probably more likely to still send people out as opposed to bringing them in...but there's finally something building here. -
Daniel Jeremiah 2026 NFL mock draft 1.0
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
WR is about 7th on our list of needs at best. If that scenario played out, we better be trading down with someone trying to jump the Cowboys/Steelers instead of making a luxury pick. -
1. A true franchise changing QB 2. A team that drafts well If you don't have either of those two, there's nothing you can do to be good IMO. As well all know all too well.

DJ pulling a Moose and coming back from Chicago would be interesting. Can't imagine it happens, especially at his current cap number. Don't think he'd command much in a trade, but that cap number is rough for a #2-3 and our current roster outlook.
-
Tack an extra year onto his contract and raise his number based on last year's play. Wouldn't extend him any further than that (age 30 season)
-
At this point, the Bills would have to throw in a pick to wash their hands of Coleman. Coleman and a 3rd for XL? Sure. I don't want Coleman, cut him if you want, but pay us the tax of a decent pick and we can talk.

Carolina Panthers - Potential cap casualties
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
TE needs an upgrade. Ben Johnson obviously does Ben Johnson things, but Caleb Williams having Loveland was huge for them this year, not to mention the few Kmet games where he goes off. But...where does that upgrade come from? How much money does Otton get on the open market, and is he worth it? Is Sadiq worth a 1st round pick when we have so many other needs? Point being, I can't see us moving on from Tremble *unless* we sign Otton and don't see us drafting Sadiq in the 1st. I don't think Tremble is worth the 6 million number, but I think he's one of the "core" guys in the locker room that we'll eat the overpay to keep around this year. -
Could Morgan be eyeing Trey Hendrickson
PanthersNCSU replied to Jackson113.2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mike Kaye has mentioned him, but go after the other Bengal, Ossai. Get Ossai who's entering his prime years for 30% of the price, and then use the money to fill other needs. Scourton, Ossai, Pat Jones, Princely, Draft Pick. Unless a 26-27 year old star is there, a 31 year old Hendrickson commanding big money seems like a poor allocation of resources. -
Too many job openings this year for McD to not get another HC job
-
Not going anywhere in '26, but 2027 is the out spot. Save 14 mil in '27, 18 mil in '28. The contracts are big, but there's outs with him and Lewis both, with Lewis's out starting this year if you want to save 9 mil (but, no). Tillis did his job on these and gave flexibility. Biggest issue right now is who are we replacing them with, which means the '26 and '27 drafts better have some legit OL picks.
