I think Sanders goes before our pick, but that is an interesting little nugget. For that matter, I also think Dart goes a lot higher than many think, and maybe someone wants ahead of the Saints for him just the same. The Dolphins (Tua's contract, though) and Colts are the only two *close* to us that could jump up IMO. Don't think I love going all the way to 21 to the Steelers pick. Seems like teams 17-32 (except the Steelers) have their guy now (shocking, good teams have a good QB). A trade down with a QB needy team could happen, but don't know if it materializes unless there's a Jordan Love/Aaron Rodgers surprise out there.

25 picks, to cut 15 of them. Peak offseason content, just needed some uniform talk.

Isaiah Simmons is still a free agent 6'4 240
PanthersNCSU replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
IIRC, it was basically down to him and DB in 2020. New regime and all, but I'd imagine us not showing interest yet means we're not interested. -
Probable best case this year is 9-10 wins. Worst case is Bryce's wheels fall off, and we're number 1 pick territory. 6.5 sounds about right.

NFL.com's Chad Reuter's 4-round mock draft
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
About a perfect draft IMO. I want Walker and like the upside of Higgins/another weapon. If XL doesn't improve, our WR group starts to look awful post-Thielen. You could argue going DL instead of Belton, but there's your Taylor Moton understudy and replacement if all goes well. Like taking a chance at a Mukuba type guy in the secondary that can create some turnovers as well. -
Some of the best news you will see all day

The curse is broken. Thank God. -
I've noticed this too, but even last year with Sanders and Brooks. And I think there's a method to the madness. Was listening to a podcast talking about the lack of LT's, and how the college game doesn't coach the position, not NFL offenses, etc. which is hampering development. So...I would like to imagine we're going after the colleges that might be preparing players with the most NFL style offense (and Sark's NFL experience)...and making a smart call. Time will tell and good players are good players, but I at least think there's something to drafting guys in the NIL transfer day and age, who at least get some semblance of an NFL system in college.

Probably in the minority, but damn I miss the Color Rush uniforms.

REPORT: Panthers like Mykel Williams
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, maybe our next DC after Evero will run a 4-3 and he'll fit a little better. -
1st rounder this year isn't exactly the time to swing for the fences on a "but what if" type guy. Could he become a monster? Sure. But there's 5 or 6 other guys who help this team, are safer picks, and can also turn into monsters. Maybe the scouts think his tape is better than what his stats say, feel like I heard a podcast not long ago mention it. But at the end of the day, the tape and what he did in games matters more than size, athleticism numbers, etc.

After Day three.... New draft strategy?
PanthersNCSU replied to BeenPounding's topic in Carolina Panthers
If he's there, you sprint to the podium and not even think about it. But...he won't be there. -
Panthers re-work Adam Thielen’s contract
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Minor things like this build culture....and build up our reputation with players, and maybe even more importantly, agents. -
Panthers re-sign Brady Christiansen
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pleasant surprise for sure. Seems like the beat writers even thought he was gone for more money. I'd cut Nijman, save the 3+ mil, and draft an OT in the 4th or 5th and the OL is locked in. -
I still think our entire scouting department is one of our bigger issues. Until we consistently nail a couple of drafts, the GM is getting bad advice from somewhere. Whether it's Hurney, Gettleman, Fitterer, or Morgan...I'm tired of hoping to come out of drafts with 2 guys.
-
Unless they have a grand master plan, this is complete malpractice on how to handle a young franchise QB. Stroud already "regressed" in Year 2...now you take his OL away? That dude is about to see ghosts like Year One Bryce if they don't find answers real quick.

After 1 day of FA, do you feel better about the defense?
PanthersNCSU replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
No where to go but up If a couple of the moves pan out, we're a Top 20 defense, which is probably all we can ask for right now. A top 20 defense wins us a couple more games last year. IF we continue to get new Bryce, plus the additions, I think we've got a shot at competing for the division. -
So what is your draft strategy after today?
PanthersNCSU replied to Panthero's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think the FA moves set us up to go Walker (or even offense). But to me the dream is still... 1. Graham 2. Walker 3. Edge TBD 4. Darkhorse - Will Campbell (if there) or Warren to the chagrin of many A trade down to get a better 2nd round pick would be great, but feel like we're going to need a weird draft for that to happen. I do think that Dart is coming off the board way earlier than anticipated, but 8 is a stretch. Even Omarion Hampton could be a sneaky top end of the 1st guy IMO. If Jeanty goes to the Raiders for instance, the Cowboys or Broncos might come calling to us for Hampton. -
Panthers sign Jaycee Horn to $100 million dollar deal
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Oof. Hate the contract, but also in a spot where we had to as barren of talent as we are. Eventually you have to pay your own. Now let us pray the man can stay healthy. -
Daniel Jeremiah: watch what the Panthers do tomorrow
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have a weird feeling the Horn thing is what Jeremiah could be talking about. Feel like it has to be a trade to get that type of ominous tweet, and contract negotiations could've broken down with Horn wanting top money. -
They're using the AJ Brown trade as the starting point it seems, but Brown was in the last year of his rookie deal. DK is in the last year of his already big salary. They need to back off that 1st and 3rd. If it's a late first, maybe. If he's coming here, it's probably involving us flipping 8 for 18 and whatever middle round pick gets it done. $30 mil comes with sticker shock, but I think he'll get that or really close to it looking at other contracts out there now. Edit - it won't happen, but would love to see the trade wait and happen on draft night. If Mason Graham is at 8, I don't want to trade out. If he's gone, I don't mind flipping 8 for 18.
-
Makes too much sense, which means it probably won't happen. But from this thread... 1. Get DK. 2. If it's between Horn and DK, DK it is. DK has some minor injuries every now and then, but he plays. Horn is Horn. Last year wasn't the norm, and if he wants top 3 money? Shiiiiiiiiiit. I'm all for paying him a fair deal and want him here, but tagging and/or trading him becomes the play if he won't budge.

ALERT: De’Mont Jones a fit with the Panthers
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't know anything about him, but he plays DL, bring him in. -
Jonathan Allen is on the trade block. Might be too expensive (even coming off an injury), but could be an interesting look to help the DL depending on his next contract.
