We Haven't Drafted a Defensive Player in R1 Since 2021.
PanthersNCSU replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
Coming away with just say 6-8 players...not even all starters, but just bodies on the 53, in 3 drafts is a surefire way to suck. -
Denver NT DJ Jones. Potential FA target
PanthersNCSU replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep, works for me. Sucks that he's on the cap until 2028 anyway if I'm reading it right, might as well take the savings now and find a new big body that is respectable. -

Sign him and draft a guy too. Whatever makes Shy Tuttle only see the field a few snaps per game. -
Panthers and Horn talks will be interesting
PanthersNCSU replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
He's getting paid, and should...but we just pray the guarantee isn't too big because of the injury history. -
Dalton and a mid round draft guy to develop is the likely and easiest plan But the Madden part of my brain wants Fields, and I want to turn him into Taysom Hill.

ATL was one just a few years ago, think that will knock them out. The Titans with a shiny new QB makes sense....but they just did that with the Bears. I'd say it's either us or the Seahawks. QB plan in Seattle, potential DK drama, and trying to "rebuild" their history become the narratives there. The Bryce redemption arc and Tepper makes us the "favorite" for it IMO. Just hope Tepper takes the opportunity to continue staying away instead of pulling a Jerry Jones and trying to get his air time.

Garrett Wilson eyeing Bryce Young
PanthersNCSU replied to thunderraiden's topic in Carolina Panthers
We need defensive help too bad to give up #8. Pull off some Kevin Costner poo... 1. Trade down with Dallas, go to 12 and pick up their 2nd. 2. Trade two 2nds this year for Garrett Wilson 3. Draft whichever Georgia Edge/End is at 12. Profit -
Garrett Wilson eyeing Bryce Young
PanthersNCSU replied to thunderraiden's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wilson or DK Metcalf. I think one of the two could be had this offseason, just a matter of price. If Thielen DOES retire? We're going to need to make some kind of splash. As much attention as the defense needs, need to make sure Bryce has a guy. -
QB Andy Dalton C Austin Corbett C Brady Christensen TE Tommy Tremble TE Feleipe Franks WR David Moore LB Shaq Thompson CB Mike Jackson S Sam Franklin S Lonnie Johnson P Johnny Hekker LS JJ Jansen C Cade Mays WR Deven Thompkins WR Dan Chisena Depending on prices, there's the guys I'd want back. Pineiro not being able to kick from 50 is a red flag, and might be time to find someone else. There's only a couple guys on the list I'd be sad about seeing go, but gotta fill the bottom of the roster and depth somehow, which a lot of these guys *hopefully* will be in the future.

Saints - will likely be worse, stuck with Carr, etc. Atlanta - unknown based on Penix Tampa Bay - probably about the same team I'd assume. 8-10 wins, consistently average. I think 3-3 in the division is the goal. Anything beyond that is beautiful. Then you hope to find 4-5 wins elsewhere (Jets, Pats, Giants, etc.) to get to 7 or 8 wins at our max. At this point, give me an "In the Hunt" playoff graphic appearance in Week 16-17 and it's a win.

A Tankathon Approach to the remaining Schedule
PanthersNCSU replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
There's obviously contract issues when doing it, but I'm at the point where I'd almost rather trade 2nd round picks for established players. -
A Tankathon Approach to the remaining Schedule
PanthersNCSU replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Really need a 3rd QB to come out of nowhere at the combine and have an Anthony Richardson type rise. Don't think we'll be in a trade down position, but damn it would be nice to move down a couple of spots and grab an extra 2nd rounder at minimum. -
I was ready to jump on Bryce about QBR & passer RTG, but...
PanthersNCSU replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
The list of truly franchise-altering QBs is a lot smaller than people think IMO. Half of the good QBs in the league now were either late-bloomers or just found the right situation/coach. Bryce has his faults, but he's improving. All things considered (the rookie contract) and the need to build this entire team? Bryce is one of the best options we can make for next year, and I'd argue there's only 10-12 guys we'd for sure take over him. -

Not sure about Abdul Carter just yet...
PanthersNCSU replied to blueandblackattack's topic in Carolina Panthers
The position isn't a luxury, but what is he? If we don't know, and hope we figure the position out, that's what I called a "luxury" pick. I said if we're sold on his role, then it makes sense. -

PanthersNCSU replied to blueandblackattack's topic in Carolina Panthers
He may be great, but we're not in a position for "luxury" picks and hoping they reach their potential. If we're sold on him and his role, sure. But if there's any hesitation as to where he plays, what he is, etc., go get the no doubt, surefire guy. Right now, that's Mason Graham or T-Mac to me. Find a way to come away with one of those two, find a pass rusher in FA, and draft another one in the 2nd or 3rd. -
We beat Dallas We lose to Arizona We lose to Tampa We beat Atlanta...to play spoiler and gift the division to Tampa End up with 5 wins, trending in the right direction, and go into the offseason ready to compete next year.

Darin Gantt notices a very good sign in the lockeroom
PanthersNCSU replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
A couple big things for me down the stretch that have happened... 1. It seems like the team has bought into Canales. The worry was always "does the positivity remain when the losses happen"? Seems like they trust him and he's getting that buy in. 2. I almost "wanted" Bryce to throw an interception at some point, just to see how he'd bounce back. Part of me was waiting on a meltdown Sunday after the pick to see Bryce scared again. Maybe hopefully he's turned the corner there, because we all know how he came back and finished that game. -
Has your return to playoffs timeline been adjusted?
PanthersNCSU replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
In the dumpster fire that is the NFC South, next year is realistic. In a normal division, a couple years. -
Current Draft Position & Potential Prospects
PanthersNCSU replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Bryce finishes the season strong, we hope for T-Mac. I wouldn't hate a defensive player at all, but almost a scenario where I'd rather us trade down a few spots if we're dead set on defense. -
Agree completely on drafting instead of signing a WR. But I'm also prepared for Tepper to get impatient again and tell his cap guru to figure it out. Bryce showing signs is great, but an unspoken thing to me right now is what does this do to Tepper? He's seemingly been quiet and behind the scenes. Now? If he's "right" about Bryce? Worried he puts the pressure on again to build a winner NOW instead of the right way. Which will mean, throw all the money out there and make the cap work.

PanthersNCSU replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Zone and prevent have no place at the end of games. Any QB with time is going to pick you apart, especially a team with Evans or a quality WR. Bend don't break works at times...but not when you have our run defense. All teams have to do is complete a couple of passes, and then they can run it down our throats to get into FG range. -
Thielen still has a decent amount left in the tank. He's far from washed, and plays like yesterday, or even the Raiders TD where he hurt himself show that. He's the vet presence we need to keep around next year, because then... Sign Higgins or draft TMac Thielen XL Coker JT/Tremble/FA TE Brooks out of the backfield Welcome to our best group of weapons since...2011?

BY playing at this level for the rest of the season allows our offseason to look so different. If he can keep this up, he's QB1 next year and we build the team around him. Grab a WR, go all in on defense, maybe even competing for the shitty NFC South next year. If he falters for a couple weeks, back to the QB carousel. No pressure, Bryce. The entire next 3 years of the franchise rely on the next month of this season.
