  1. Lottery, draft talk, etc... But this upcoming draft is loaded. I'd be trying to get as many bites at the apple as possible. Bridges and LaMelo, ship them out. Let Brandon Miller, this year's rookie class, and hopefully a stud or two next year try to form their own little mini-Thunder.
  2. Geno and Mac Jones are going to be options 1 and 2 more than likely, so do agree with that.
  3. Ding ding ding. He either reads it late, doesn't trust himself to throw with anticipation, or flat out doesn't trust himself to throw the ball more than 10 yards downfield. At the end of the day, throw it up to TMac and let him draw a flag or make a play. I'd rather see a 20+ yard arm punt than being scared on 3rd down. Said it in one of the previous BY threads, but his "super power" of being a high processor, if true, is his biggest enemy IMO. He gets so far in his head he doesn't trust himself to just play. He played loose at the end of last year and the return was better. Now he's playing not to lose and is scared to death he's going to mess up...leading to messing up on top of his deficiencies already.
  4. Also on Canales in general, don't feel like he's the type of coach who's going to mother fug somebody in private. And in the NFL...college...high school...that's a problem. The clip went viral of Rivera tearing the team a new one in the locker room a few weeks ago, but you have to have that in you. Morgan can't preach bringing in "dawgs" if our HC is a choir boy on the sideline clapping and saying yes sir Mr. Ref. Not saying he needs to be Dan Campbell...but he can't be milquetoast Disney sports movie guy 100% of the time
  5. 21 year old rookie might already be one of our best leaders. DB and Horn are better and have the respect, but love Scourton so far.
  6. With the Giants firing Daboll, wonder if they'd move Dart. 98% no, but maybe the new hire will want his own QB.... Worth an offseason call at least.
  7. XL, Coker, Horn, and a heavy dose of TE's should still be fine to catch 11 Bryce passes
  8. I think we steal one of the 49ers, Rams, Seahawks trio. *Should beat NO twice. Lose to Atlanta, and then hope to steal one from TB.
  9. Walking around with that thing and still seemed to lack confidence. Oof. On the other hand...he made 60 million dollars, short career so his brain is intact, and has a huge hog. We should all strive to be Matt Kalil.
  10. Contracts were mentioned for most of the theoretical options (Dak, TLaw, Kyler, Purdy, Tua, Geno), including multiple mentions of how unlikely it is because of the contracts, who just signed new ones, which are easier to get out of, etc. Post-June 1st trade, using OTC, were also looked at...and make some of them a little more likely and palatable for the team shipping them out.
  11. Not rehashing the Bryce convo, but looking to see who our potential targets could be going into next year, and how viable they may be. Most QBs in the league are below, with more attention to those that could be cut, traded, etc., and seeing who we can talk ourselves into. Will Dave think he can fix damaged goods? Are any of these guys even worth the hassle? The way that I see it... Untouchables, Not Happening Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Herbert, Burrow, Maye, Hurts, Baker (Division rival, not happening) He's Finishing His Career Here Matt Stafford - Sigh. What could've been if that trade would've gone through Aaron Rodgers - Please...just finish your career already. We'll Listen to the Call, but Not Happening Dak - Contract is crazy, Jerry Jones is crazy, so who knows? Another embarrassing end to the season and lack of playoffs could make Jurruh do something crazy, but not this crazy Jordan Love - A sneaky one if things magically went south with LaFleur if his inconsistent play continued, but GB would be dumb to even consider Jared Goff - He fits perfectly with the Lions, why would they? Sam Darnold - See above. The way he's playing for the Seahawks and just being signed? Nope. Cam Ward - No chance they give up this soon...but could see how his honesty in the media has rubbed many the wrong way in Tennessee. New coach incoming, FO is a mess, ownership is a mess...crazier things have happened. Young Guys With Promise Don't Get Traded Jayden Daniels - The injury sucks, Washington was bound to regress, but he's not being traded CJ Stroud - He's regressed, but the Texans have committed malpractice with his offensive line and running game. He's shown glimpses of greatness, which they're not giving up on for at least another season. Caleb Williams - Hasn't shown as much as the two above him on this list...but still not happening. Bo Nix - Sean Payton loves him, can't see it happening so soon. Jaxson Dart - No chance, rookie, etc. JJ McCarthy/Michael Penix - Penix isn't coming here because Atlanta. But lumped these two together because they've largely shown nothing, but aren't getting moved, and no where else to put them. Maybe...But the Contract Is Tricky Trevor Lawrence - New HC may not love him, his up and down play and lack of living up to the hype? Sounds like a Dave Canales reclamation project to me. Cap hits aren't awful for the next couple of years before they balloon...but the dead cap means he's Jacksonville's for a bit. Kyler Murray - The favorite in the clubhouse to pop-up in trade rumors after being effectively benched in Arizona. The contract has a few years left at $40-50+, and he's not worth it...but somebody will talk themselves into it. Brock Purdy - His highs have been higher than some of the "lesser" QB's in other categories, but it's San Fran and Shanahan can get me to play QB. Just signed the contract though, so they may have buyers remorse, but he's not being moved. Daniel Jones Can't see him leaving Indy, he's going to get "paid"...but we did have interest in him last year I believe. From Charlotte...but do we trust Daniel Jones to continue on this path, or turn back into a pumpkin. Depends on the rest of the season. The Starters Who Suck Jacoby Brissett - Starter in Arizona now...but will it stay? NC State ties, but he's from Florida. Could see him being a target to upgrade Dalton next year via trade, or the Cards cut him and save some cash in which case we pounce. Tua Tagovailoa - Miami would eat an ungodly amount of dead cap, and the new team would inherit an awful contract that balloons to $65 mil in 2028. With a new coach likely, I'm sure they could try to move him. But...gross. Geno Smith - Canales connection, Las Vegas hasn't been good for him, contract is easy enough to move? Ehhhh. Mac Jones - Back-up thrust into the starting job, but how much is Shanahan? I'm sure most of it. Could improve our backup spot over Andy, though. Justin Fields - Wing-T up in this bitch. Some Experience, Damaged Goods, Some Actual Free Agents Spencer Rattler - New Orleans isn't trading him here, makes little sense to cut him. But, they'll be in cap hell as usual, and could be drafting another to go with Shough. Rattler could be the odd man out. Carson Wentz - Could be had for cheap, but he's maybe slightly better than Andy Dalton at this point? Please no. Jake Browning, Joe Flacco, and anyone that's played QB for the Browns and/or Bengals this year - - No thank you. Even if Flacco could sling it one more year. Russell Wilson - Please No Marcus Mariota - Would make some sense, but blah A lot of back-up level guys that nobody would be excited about that I'm not listing because I'm tired of typing. SO...in conclusion... Traded upgrades to Bryce that have *any* chance of happening while ignoring contracts for a second - Geno Smith, Kyler Murray, Trevor Lawrence. Crazy Darkhorses based on nothing other than my brain and won't happen - Jordan Love, Cam Ward Free Agent Option that will get overpaid and could turn back into a pumpkin - Daniel Jones I think Bryce is staying, we draft a mid-round guy, and bring in a Jacoby Brissett Marcus Mariota type to round out the room. The entire above exercise is pointless, but also wanted to lay everything out and see if anyone can convince me of someone we could go after, or if we're doomed to hopefully getting lucky in the draft.
  12. This. His best bet is to go home to California, and show up to Kyle Shanahan's office and say I'll be the 3rd string QB, just bring me in. Being the back-up for the 49ers should be his career hope right now.
  13. On the bright side, we may be building a halfway decent roster...to now plop the next QB into. If it's a Sam Howell type, I think we're largely the same team or *maybe* one win better. If it's a decent vet via trade, we're a playoff team. If we miraculously hit gold in the draft, our pants are coming off.
  14. Don't know if the guy who doesn't follow play calls and just does his own thing would vibe with Evero's defense. If the Steelers locker room was ready to kill him and talking poo about him post game like last year, don't think he'd be the best addition here despite his talent.
  15. Jacoby Brissett would've been nice...if he wasn't now the Cardinals starter.
  16. Where do I sign up? Even if you meant 9-8, where do I sign up?
  17. If we're lucky enough to get a 14+ point lead or so, then go ahead and start running Chuba some. Until then? Run, Rico, run.
  18. 5-4. Coming off a win AT Green Bay...where Bryce was meh at best. The NFL is weird, but something has to give with how many of us think about this team. It can't all be Bryce sucks, Canales can't coach, Evero can't coach, this FO sucks...I'm guilty of some of these opinions as well, but there's *something* here. A team with that many "problems" that we all complain about...wouldn't be 5-4 and coming off a road win against the previous NFC 1 seed. Front office deserves praise. Canales deserves praise. EVERO...deserves praise (even if he drives me insane). And even Bryce....fug it. Let the stats be garbage, all that matters is wins. Get those and throw for your 100 yards, don't care.
  19. Once the initial offensive script plays are done, woof. Feel like there's been a few games this year where the initial drive is beautiful...and then Canales can't call a decent play for possessions at a time.
  20. Correct, but looking at the list of Free Agents...which one is *actually* a starter or not just another Bryce? Daniel Jones....and? Again, happy to not pick up the extension, save the money, and sign a Sam Howell for cheaper. I just don't see them doing it and admitting defeat until they either have the answer on the roster, or a Top ___ pick.
  21. Not debating that, I'm over Bryce. I didn't say he's better than 95% of the FAs, I said that he makes more sense. Just can't imagine the team actually moving on, without *something* else in place. They're going to sit back and say Bryce knows the system, he's here, we drafted him, yada yada and give him an edge over a Kenny Pickett. Add in Tepper, DM, and all involved with drafting him...I just don't see them not picking the option up.
  22. Bryce is a starting QB, even if he's the 30th best one. Short of getting Daniel Jones in here, or trading for a QB, he's our starter until we draft another one. Not saying it's the right decision and I'm not a fan, but a one year commitment with the option...they're not going to blink at that IMO. If they start talking extension with him, we riot.
  23. Bryce's option is 100% being picked up. I'd be floored if it wasn't. He's going to make more sense than 95% of the free agents, but it's just the option. Doesn't prevent us from going after somebody, drafting somebody, etc. Best case you draft a guy who shows promise, Bryce is on his option and plays well, and then we're in a Vikings style scenario with Darnold/McCarthy. Hopefully the early returns for us end up being better than the Vikings.
  24. Almost like Kon might be decent. Who woulda thought?
