Rather have Mays re-signed (and cheaper) at this point.

Daniel Jeremiah: Panthers prime trade candidate

He's playing 4D Chess. On Musk's payroll, just getting Twitter some clicks. -
Daniel Jeremiah: Panthers prime trade candidate
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Only other thing he says is that we essentially need to draft a winner. Which, I think there might be some credence to. Draft guys who are used to winning (hello, Eagles/Georgia), instead of guys from 7-5 teams who sat out of the Pop Tarts Bowl. -
Joe Person: Projecting moves based on vibes
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Zero substance in that article, thanks, Joe. Joe Person - ultimate vibes guy. -
This is an underrated part of it to me. It *seems* (hopefully) that Bryce is mentally in a better place and hopefully continues on his upward trajectory. But, if he is a mental midget. A. We're screwed. B. Bringing in competition might have a negative impact on him, as crazy as that is for a competitor. So, you keep his friend/mentor, you don't rock the boat, and you hope he starts next season on fire and moves beyond whatever demons he had once and for all. If the demons surface again, we have our answer on Bryce, and Dalton isn't going to play us out of a top pick.

Would've preferred Fields (I want him as Taysom Hill), but fine with Dalton. $6 mil guaranteed over 2 years, fine by me. Draft a guy this year or next to be the next backup/development guy.

Who Has to Be Off the Board to Trade Back?
PanthersNCSU replied to 45catfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I always get sucked in to the trade down option. But I've reached the point where unless we're getting a future 1st, what's the point? Until we can show the ability to have a draft class top to bottom that contributes, meh to extra 2nd and 3rd round picks. -
Interview him, ask who he likes at the top of this draft, end the interview
-
I'd be mad about the pick initially, but it could make a ton of sense. Obviously I want defense, but we're still at the point roster wise where I could talk myself into almost any position making sense for us next year & beyond.

#8, Brooks, and the Top Cats. Jerry can't say no.

He just posted an article more about safeties. Mentions Holland, Tre'von Moehrig, Hamlin, and some draft prospects. Hadn't considered the Damar Hamlin connection (we hired the trainer that saved him, hosted an event with the Teppers). Lock it in, Hamlin becomes a Panther. Double dip and sign Moehrig while we're at it.

Yep. Cam is going to morph more and more into the Stephen A model now that he's on ESPN. He's honestly ESPN's wet dream. Charismatic...and a history of not thinking before he speaks at times.

Players I like in this draft class for our needs etc.
PanthersNCSU replied to Bostonheelfish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Minor piece of a good list, but if we spend a 2nd round pick on a RB (again) to be a backup (again) Dan Morgan needs to go. There are 20+ RBs in this draft. You'll be able to get a good one in the 4th or 5th round. Using a 2nd round pick on a RB to get 7 or 8 snaps, over any defensive position, is a fireable offense. -
NFL.com's Lance Zierlein mock draft
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
On one level, the defense can't be ignored and this would be a luxury pick in ways. On another level though, this is still a team that needs talent upgrades...everywhere. We can't be "mad" at a true BPA, position be damned, if it's the right call on a better player. I have faith in Sanders, hope Tremble is back, etc. But if we think Warren is Brock Bowers-esque and are iffy on any of the Edge guys? Give me the guy you think has a higher probability to be an All-Pro. -
Matt(not Mac, he’s dead)Miller two round mock draft
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
As long as we can bring Mike Jackson back, don't like CB above DL help in the 2nd. If we can't bring Jackson back then sure, CB is looking rough all of a sudden. -
Cam Newton wouldn't trade MVP Award for Super Bowl Ring
PanthersNCSU replied to PantherBoy95's topic in Carolina Panthers
He'll catch hell for it, but he's "right" in ways. The ultimate goal is a Super Bowl. But there's a couple thousand guys who can claim that, including scrubs. MVP tho? Special territory to be remembered. As a fan? I'd trade his MVP in a heartbeat. As a player, I could see MVP meaning more.- 58 replies

Would prefer a little more beef, but wouldn't hate it at all.

ESPN: Panthers like LB Jalon Walker
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Annual feeling, but would be nice if he could be had with a slight trade down. Let the Cowboys jump up for Jeanty, take Walker at 12. Either way, give me Walker in the first if he's the guy, a NT in the 2nd, and there's at least a couple reasons to get excited about the defense progressing beyond garbage. -
[The Athletic] Panthers’ offseason to-do list
PanthersNCSU replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agreed with a lot of this. Couple thoughts, especially towards the OL/future cap things... First, I hope Bryce is good enough to command being paid a Top 5 QB salary. Great news for us if so. But as of now, I think he'd be in that mid-tier range, so that $60 gets cut to 30-40. Baker to Stafford range. Obviously the cap will go up and $60 might be the new mid-tier, but either way I think we're fine here. He either continues to ascend and gets paid Top 5 money because he's that good and thank God. Or, he shows he's Baker level, gets a competitive offer that's outside the Top 10, and we're "saving" money (but also paying someone who may not be the "guy" in that scenario). The OL is the biggest thing going forward IMO. You're 100% right here about the need for an OL, paying them, % of the cap, etc. Which is why in the next couple of drafts, we HAVE to absolutely nail a couple OL picks. We can't realistically tie up that much money in our OL. So we better turn into the Cowboys the late 2010s and constantly have a revolving cycle of a couple highly paid pieces, with drafted guys who step up and take their place once we have to move on. One highly paid OT, one highly paid OG, and then find rookie deals or cheaper vets that fit well. Point being, we're teetering on the edge of a few foundational pieces being here now. IF, and history isn't on our side here, we can nail the next couple of drafts...we're in a good spot when it comes to the cap and future. If we don't find a couple of defensive cornerstones and find reliable OL depth that can take over for Hunt/Moton/Lewis as they age or contracts balloon...that's when we're right back in hell IMO. No pressure, Dan. -
We Haven't Drafted a Defensive Player in R1 Since 2021.
PanthersNCSU replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
Coming away with just say 6-8 players...not even all starters, but just bodies on the 53, in 3 drafts is a surefire way to suck. -
Denver NT DJ Jones. Potential FA target
PanthersNCSU replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep, works for me. Sucks that he's on the cap until 2028 anyway if I'm reading it right, might as well take the savings now and find a new big body that is respectable. -
Denver NT DJ Jones. Potential FA target

Sign him and draft a guy too. Whatever makes Shy Tuttle only see the field a few snaps per game. -
Panthers and Horn talks will be interesting
PanthersNCSU replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
He's getting paid, and should...but we just pray the guarantee isn't too big because of the injury history.
