I personally like Durham, Winston Salem and Greensboro as well.

Bring them to Greensboro. Charlotte has had enough.

Teddy Opens up About Carolina (CBS)
CPcavedweller replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
The lack of practice on 2-minute situations would explain why we sucked on drives that could've won the game. The real issue was COVID restrictions. It was a problem for almost every QB in a new system other than Brady and Rivers. -
Draft Analysis: "A massive value-destroying error"?
CPcavedweller replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
We saw Sam as our QB draft pick...its that simple. I personally don't blame them considering he is 23 and already has NFL experience. -
If you can get Aaron Rodgers...you go get Aaron Rodgers. It would be an incredibly poor business decision by Tepper and Fitterer NOT to get Rodgers. We were a reliable 4th quarter QB away from the playoffs last year. Rodgers elevates us to competing with the Bucs for the South and presumably the NFC.

Just how good are we expecting Jaycee Horn to be?
CPcavedweller replied to RIPTreyLance's topic in Carolina Panthers
He won't be poo if we don't get better play out of the middle of the defense and that starts up front. That is why I advocated for Micah Parsons; 6'3 240 lbs and runs a legitimate 4.4 40. That type of athleticism in the middle of your defense immediately and irrevocably upgrades everyone outside and behind them. Yet we went with a corner, one of the least consequential positions that impacts the outcome of plays time and time again. As an organization, the Panthers have almost always had a Hall of Fame talent at MLB and if they didn't there was one outside. It was built this way because that position matters to a defense the same way a QB matters to offense. Take Horn was akin to us taking Devonta Smith but keeping PJ Washington as our starting QB. Smith will be a fantastic player but if PJ is our QB, the offense isn't going to do poo consistently. So we just did that same thing by drafting Horn. He may make a splash play or two that affect the outcome of a game. But he isn't going to be in position to wreck a game and control an offense the way a linebacker can. When you have athletes like Kuechly or Wagner controlling and commanding the middle of the field it affects everything around them. We completely and utterly lack that ability right now and the entire defense will suffer for it. Teams don't win championships without great middle field play the same way they don't without a QB. Would the Bucs have won without Devin White? poo no they wouldn't have. They could have two all world corners but without White wrecking the Chiefs receivers, backs, quarterback, and offensive like the Bucs likely lose that game. Gimme a great Linebacker over a great Corner, if I have to make the decision. Its clear we did. Sticky this comment for Week 8 when we are lamenting how the middle of our defense is putrid and losing games while Parsons is on a Rookie of the Year run. -
Luke Kuechly has resigned from the Panthers scouting staff

Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select CB Jaycee Horn
CPcavedweller replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
How much did Patrick Peterson help Arizona? How much did Luke Kuechly help us? Comparatively, you take Parsons for highest impact. But what do I know? -
Lance doesn't hold a candle to Newton now or coming out of college, maybe even ever.

If Pitts is there he is the pick at #8
CPcavedweller replied to Panthers429's topic in Carolina Panthers
I take Pitts or Micah Parsons. We picked up a potential quality QB already, time to replace Luke woth another generational Mike. You take Parsons if he's there, in my opinion. If you can get even middle of the road play from Darnold, rhe Panthers immediately become the 2nd team in the South. -
His playoff performances say otherwise. People like to dog on his Alabama game but that game, in my opinion, was more impressive than the Clemson game. It looked more poor than it really was because Ohio State's defense came up with one or two stops the entire game. Fields had to come off of his first read on many plays, and even if he had only done so once, that was one more time than Mac Jones. Anyone who would rather have Jones or Lance over Fields is a fool. Best case scenario for Fields is to go to the Patriots where he can sit behind Cam for a year.

POV: You are Joe Brady. What do you want in the draft?
CPcavedweller replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
We would've won more games with a quality TE as well. You go Pitts, Sewell, or Chase. I'm not a fan of trading back out of the top 10. -

CPcavedweller replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Kyle Pitts...point blank. Generational talent at TE to go with Moore, Anderson, and CMC. That position is what we were missing on late game drives and he's pretty much the only capable choice to make a big impact in 2021-22. -
Former Jets scout Daniel Kelly on Trey Lance
CPcavedweller replied to mccjeff's topic in Carolina Panthers
The terminology changed from 1-AA to FCS and 1-A to FBS. Not Division 2 to FCS. App State was FCS (now FBS). Lenoir-Rhyne is Division 2. -

If their name isn't Fields, Wilson, or Lawrence I'm going to take a hard pass in Round 1. Watching the "Coaches Room" during the National Championship really showed me how Mac Jones was as successful as he was. He didn't make a single throw in that game that was his second read; one caveat is the RPO game where reading for a run or pass is technically a read. Without the caveat, his first option in the route tree was where he went every single throw in that game. Then you go back and watch highlights of the rest of the season and see the same thing. Jones was a product of overwhelming talent out wide and a coach who could scheme those guys open. Not a lot of improvisation or reads that depended on Jones' talent or intelligence. -
Taking a QB would mean that they are rebuilding. Matt Ryan hasn't fallen off physically and likely won't for quite some time. You take Pitts, have a quality offensive staff and they are not only contenders for the South but the Superb Owl.

Are You Really Against Fields or Lance if they fall to #8...
CPcavedweller replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
We take a hit whether he's released or traded. The point is that is a lot of capital tied up in one position, so unless you can trade Darnold as well, you let him walk for nothing next year making the trade for him pointless to begin with. I'm of the opinion that the Panthers Front Office believes Darnold can be the guy and will treat the draft as an opportunity to build around him. Considering he is the age of many Rookie QB's, it isn't farfetched to think that they really considered him a "draft pick". -

Devonta Smith or those two? When we just traded for Darnold? And still have Bridgewater and his cap hit? I'd say we are done with QB's for now. -
We couldn't get Trubisky to sign here so we trade a 2nd for Darnold and that's how you know he's plan F? What?
-
Pre-Gase was his rookie season. If I remember correctly, Manning was putrid his rookie year as well. But he had a quality supporting cast and offensive coaching beyond that point. Not saying that Darnold is Manning but come on man. Gase is hot garbage and has a horrible record of talent development on his roster.

Jets fans are dancing...because they lost a Top 5 pick for a 6th round pick in 2021 and a 2nd in 2022; a team that has shown it can't draft and retain talent for anything? They basically gave away their 24 year old QB for peanuts while having a Rookie HC and still no decent offensive coaching staff to speak of. Odds are they make the wrong draft choice in 2021 while the Panthers see Brady turn Darnold into what he was projected to be coming out of the draft.
-
Are you a Scout? Are you a GM? Are you an NFL coach? Maybe they should seek your opinion next time they make a deal. Darnold is likely worth more than we gave up for him.
