Wow. But he doesn't know how Brady is going to use Cam. He can make some assumptions but, assume wrong, and you'll pay. I always said, as did many here, that all Rivera was missing with Cam was an offensive line and a modern offensive coordinator. We still don't have an offensive line but we do have a modern offensive coordinator. I expect Brady and Cam will do well to help each other look good, assuming Cam can get his timing down. It's going to be a project which is why I'm really hopeful that Cam will be back next year as well.

Has Rivera ever lost to Bruce Arians in the regular season? I think the playoffs last season was his first time losing to him. Rivera is one of the best defensive coaches in the NFL, still. His decision making in personnel is suspect and the offenses are always behind the defense, except in 2015, but his defenses are usually great assuming he has even average personnel.

I watch it for the dumb takes. I don't watch it for news and information. However, their takes, while often off the wall, aren't always incorrect. This take was just misinformed and the researchers for the show could've found that out quickly.

None of that cash goes to the Panthers. Those tickets are already sold as far as the team is concerned. That's secondary market value and has no impact on revenues.

Do they not know that the Panthers have PSL's and are sold out every game? The ticket revenue is in hand so no, this isn't about tickets. This is about capitalizing on having a Top 5 defense, Christian McCaffrey, DJ Moore, Anderson, our right tackle, etc. It's about having an ROI measured in wins. If Tepper wanted a losing team, he wouldn't be paying guys. Sure, they may pocket some cash from jersey sales but it's miniscule compared to what they pocket by WINNING. Cam was brought here to win and Stephen A. Smith is a tool on this topic. I like him, I like his show, but he seems to firmly believe in what he is saying here and it's beyond idiotic.

There aren't many people who can make the throw as you're describing it. If Cam can play to his limitations while still being the best 3rd and 1, 4th and 1, and Red Zone threat in the league, the Panthers have a shot this year.

Did "Keep Pounding" go away? Am I missing something? One thing people shouldn't need to be reminded of is where Cam was in 2018 before he was injured and Rivera didn't rest him as he should have.

Time to right a horrendous wrong that was done here. Cam was never the issue here amd shouldn't have been treated as such. We all agreed that time off would've done him well, as well as investment in the offensive line. If you can keep Cam here while investing in that line, I think the dividends will be great. The disconnect between fan and franchise occurred because many, many people feel that they have a personal connection with Cam because that's the kind of moxie he has in public relations. He changed the fanbase, he changed the franchise. Let's hope Rhule doesn't screw this up, otherwise cut him, promote Brady, keep Snow, and let's go.

Cam never should've been released. We were mostly excited to see what he could do in Joe Brady's system since Cam spent so long in the same basic philosophies of Mike Shula and Norv Turner. This system is something unlike Cam has run and he has a full compliment of skill position players he hasn't had since 2013. If the Panthers could build a quality offensive line around him, one that could keep Cam in the top half of the league in QB hits, we could see a Renaissance for him here at home. I thought cutting Cam for Teddy was to tank for draft picks and it turns out I was wrong, they really thought we could win with him. Now I'm not convinced we can win this season with Cam, considering we can only be as good as our weakest link, and our weakest link ot once of the worst in the league. We have a Top Quarter defense, a top 5 running back group, a Top 15 receiver Corp, a top 15 QB, and a bottom 2 offensive line. If Cam can show something, and we can be in the running for a Wild Card, the Panthers need to consider giving Cam a shot in this offense, in his city. Do not do him like you did last time. Cam built the culture that persists today, let him continue that. We saw where he was when we had CMC his rookie year. If they can adapt the playbook quick enough, it should be exciting ball.

When the Panthers inexplicably cut him in favor of Teddy Two Gloves and got rid of Rivera a year into a 3-4 rebuild I quit watching full games. You don't build a winner by doing people that way. A lot of people here were tired of Cam but most people knew a few things. 1. A quality, modern offensive coordinator 2. An offensive line. Since Jordan Gross retired, 3 GM's have now been in place and none of them have solved the offensive line since Gross retired. Cam was rhe Panthers offense for so long that Gettlemen and Co. Ignored obvious issues and whiffed on talent evaluations, wasting what should've been prime years of both Luke and Cam I'm convinced that Cam could be a viable starter for another 6 seasons if the Panthers want to address the most important positions on an offense, the line. We will never get very far with this group, or any iteration we've had for the past five seasons. Tom Brady could be our quarterback and it not make a bit of difference if he can't be protected. So please, when Cam has a rough game, unlike you've done for Darnold, 0ut the blame where it lies.

Your last sentence is the thesis of my comment. We are in year 2 of a rebuild from ruins, basically. We have holes as most teams do in year 2 of a rebuild. I figured we would be a 4 year rebuild at best, Tepper gave Coach a 7-year contract telling me he thought it may be 5 years of rebuild and 2 to compete and figure out if Rhule is the guy. You're talking about 3 games of a 50 game stretch. One very common theme is that no one can replace CMC on offense and the staff has done NOTHING to address the most important position on defense, the Mike. The quarterback of the defense has been neglected since Luke left and it shows up each week. Am I disappointed in losses? Yes. But I'm also very encouraged by the fact we took what will probably be a playoff team in Minnesota to the brink on a 98-yard regulation ending drive with two MASSIVE fourth down conversations despite wide receivers dropping passes all day. Why am I encouraged? That drive shows me that the Panthers have the right guy at quarterback. That is the cornerstone that you build around and we have it. Now who is going to step up as a leader in the middle of the defense?

This is Year 2 of a complete rebuild. We are a .500 team with a .250 offense and a .750 defense. Darnold is fine, actually reminds me a bit of Aaron Rodgers in a way (before you flame me, realize that at this same point in his career, Rodgers was still on the bench). Dropped passes, turnovers, receivers not beating their guys, play calling, offensive line personnel, etc. I mean, who calls a damn tight end sweep on the goal line? Seriously? The defense is fine, but when they are continuously 0ut in bad positions this is what happens. When your offense can't sustain drives this is what happens. Physical teams with a running game will eventually break everything wide open. Fact is that if the Vikings had an elite QB, they would be 6-0. That team has the most Jekyll and Hyde offense in all of football and it all revolves around Kirk Cousins. They go as he goes. If they are running rhe ball effectively and Cousins is dropping dimes, this is what happens. Minnesota has the talent to be a contender in the NFC but, as with Cousins, when he goes cold they go cold. In the grand scheme of things, it's one game. The Panthers are a young team and had an opportunity to win this game on offense but got into a 28-17 hole. One very big factor no one here mentions, we have a massive hole in the middle of the defense. Every since Luke left we have had an absolutely gaping hole in the middle and that has become the Achilles heel of this defense. Shaq isn't a great replacement for Luke but there is noticeable drop off with him off the field, period.

This. This isn't sincere. Did he show up with a nice fat bonus for everyone? Or did he show up for a photo op?

There won't be an end of season push to have at this rate. In the NFL, every play is important to most teams in terms of their post season hopes. It's not even that every game is important, the scoring margins are so low that 4 or 5 plays can determine if you go to the playoffs.

Well, rhey called Gruden a racist for disagreeing with kneeling during the National Anthem. As the dude on ESPN said (former player), "I don't think Gruden was a racist. It doesn't seem like he liked anyone very much." So this is more about Grudens disdain of people in general than any specific characteristic of an intersectional class of people. He just happens to be white so anything said negatively about any minority is taken as if it has racial bias involved when in reality he treated everyone the same regardless of skin color. They also called him a homophobe for calling out Jeff Fisher for drafting Michael Sam because of the public perception of Sam being the first openly gay player. Yet Sam fizzled out in quick order so Grudens judgment on Sam's talent as it relates to the NFL was actually spot on. With the Raiders, he has the NFL first openly game starter and he has developed into one of of NFL best pass rushers. But neither the end to the Sam saga or his signing of this defensive end matter because they don't fit the context within which the story is being pushed. I could write the same type of article as the New York Times explaining why Gruden is not a homophobe using the logic above and it would be far more relevant contextually to the end result than anything they wrote, but people don't care. Gruden was removed from the Bucs Ring of Honor while OJ Simpson remains on the Bills, I believe. There is a boatload of hypocrisy going on right now and I'm not the least bit surprised. Did Gruden say nasty things using outdated terms with negative connotations that now make people shudder? Absolutely. Should he have been punished? Yes. Should he have been fired? No. If Greg Hardy and OJ Simpson get a pass for their transgressions, how can Gruden be dumped as if he literally murdered someone? He was dropped from everything faster than than Pats dropped Aaron Hernandez. This isn't about the truth. It's about building a narrative to fit the end goal. I'm all for personal accountability for things people say and do, but I feel as not enough critical thinking over the context is done here. People have trigger words now that automatically label a person and make them a pariah without further explanation or exploration. Gruden should have likely been suspended, but none of this happened while an employee of an NFL franchise. The punishment does not fit the crime. I see people on TV feigning anger but deep down you can see the effort to present their emotions through words but their physical reaction does not line up with their words which suggests to me they don't believe what they themselves are saying; and who is driving this story?

The interior of the defense is far more important than the boundaries. If you can trade him for something valuable in the middle of the defense, go for it.

Few people here remember Otah. Most of us from that era have passed on.

I told everyone we should've drafted Micah Parsons and traded for Smith when the opportunity was available before the season started. Why did I say this? Because defenses are best built inside out. Great defensive lines and linebacker groups can make secondaries look all-world. Great secondary groups can't compensate for a soft middle and front line of a defense. Knowing what we know now, we could've traded back for Parsons, trade that extra pick for Smith (assuming they still wanted to get rid of him), and then got Gilmore because he'd been on the block in New England I'm sure. I'm short, we could've ended up with Micah Parsons, Jaylon Smith and Stephon Gilmore. I was told that Jaycee Horn is a game changer and Micah Parsons would be a bust because he takes plays off. How is that looking now? I don't follow the Panthers like I used to because I have young kids and don't have the cash for Game Pass so I'm usually relegated to listening on Sirius XM on my phone and watching evening games but drafting Horn instead of shoring up the middle of the defense. That said, the Panthers lost to the Eagles because of the blocked punt. Sam didn't help but this is a three phase game. The special teams gave the Eagles life at the end of the game.

Bold statement Cotton, this is the NFL after all, let's see if it pays off.

Football is ALWAYS about execution. Why did Miami beat App State? Execution. App has a bad snap on punt team that goes for a safety. App throws an interception inside their own 10 yard line. App's QB overthrows the TE in the endzone and has to settle for a field goal. App missed a two-point conversion on their final touchdown due to a fumbled snap. The game was decided by 2 points. Execution friends, is what decides football games that are close. Anyone who immedietely turns to blame coaches without breaking down the plays that they disagree with don't know football. Part of that is why I left the Huddle for a couple of years. Andddd it's still the same.
