There is a reason for this, of course. The Vikings are actually running installs right now, in parts apparently.

I was...one of them... Poor 18 year old me was duped, along with almost everyone else. Clausen is one of the biggest failures I've ever seen as a player. Good dude, just fell completely off the face of the Earth from college to the NFL.

No "old schooler" ever said "show up early and then do nothing". The assumption is rhat your effort is good along with showing up early. Why kids think they know all is something I'll never undunderstand. Or especially now where they are taught everything that came before them is bad in some way, shape, or form. Pro tip, being early is still a good thing in our culture. A lack of effort was never acceptable except, ironically, in unionized work. That aside, no boomer said show up early and sit on your ass.

Every injury I've seen him get happened after being hit. He then continues to play and eventually leaves. Obviously the Hamstring was different but that, again, comes from overuse. So you reduce the hits on CMC and you likely extend his season.

We already saw, he still checks down every opportunity he gets. It may have been one day, but it's one day that's a continuation of 4 years. Baker is looking to score, Sam is looking for a safety valve. Give me BAKER. I didn't even fuging want Baker or the trade, I saw it as pointless. Yesterday opened my eyes to the difference between Sam and Baker. One will get CMC hurt again, one will actually allow CMC to run a route without having the ball thrown to him. Bakers ability to see the field and push the ball downfield also opens up the playbook whereas Sam's style contracts it.
-
He would've checked down and got CMC killed.
-
Dude, he's already checking down every chance he's getting with the 1's while Baker has been pushing the ball vertically. It's the same song and dance with both Baker and Sam. Baker pushes the ball downfield and takes some risks but also hits big plays, Sam is Teddy Two Gloves in terms of checking down. Want to extend CMC's season? Go with Baker. He won't check it down 14 times a game and put all that wear and tear on CMC.

Coach Fitt said the QB competition begins Monday. So in a way, you're right, there hasn't been one. It starts when the pads are on they say.

So you know more than the blue check who knows people in the league? Naw, ya don't.

What QB is good with in-face pressure? You could insert any name in football and say "not good". So Brady is the GOAT, and being poor with in face pressure isn't a flaw, it's expected.

In the time scale of human history and culture, 1976 wasn't that long ago. Being at practice early is likely smiled upon, if you're at home during the week and are commuting to the facility. During training camp when everyone is getting ready in the locker room together, it doesn't matter at all. So yes, being early is good if it's in season. Staying late is good in season and possibly during TC depending on the schedule. But being early to the field during TC doesn't matter, especially if it's only 5 minutes before everyone else and everyone is utilizing their time properly.

I don't think anyone is saying that. What people are saying is that Baker is doing things that Sam can't do in shorts. Yesterday, Sam's practice consisted of check down after check down which is all we've seen since Cam hurt his shoulder midway through 2018. Baker may actually prolong CMC's season because he WON'T check down. There may be some sacks or INT's every now and again but the ability to push the ball downfield and not settle for CMC will help the team over the course of 19 to 20 games.

It should've been more than 100 times. So more than once is not good enough.
-
The stats of how Baker performed with the 1's today versus Sam yesterday are very telling.
-
Baker is better than Darnold and I bet Darnold is not even on the team at the end of August.
-
You know what they say about trash. We got him for nothing from CLEVELAND. The Browns. The worst organization in the NFL and it's not even really close aside from maybe Jacksonville. So I don't consider what we gave up to get him. Baker led the Browns to a playoff win in Pittsburgh and they very nearly upset the Chiefs. Baker will be fine, especially in this offense.

The post I responded to specifically said "meeting room". Anyone showing up to work early doesn't have enough to do at home. It's also nearly impossible when you have kids. In terms of football, it's not like the other guys are straggling to the field late because they've been playing games or farting around. Odd's are they are communicating with their guys, checking the plan for the day, reading the playbook, studying notes from the previous day's practice, etc. In other words, practice doesn't start once you get on the field, especially for a QB.
-
And judging by today, Baker is the better option. Running the same scenarios, Baker is pushing the ball downfield and Sam is STILL dumping the ball off, in shorts. It's not even time for pads and Darnold still can't bring himself to use the vertical element of the field while Baker is tossing dimes. Baker is also showing a leadership element by getting up with his receivers in trash talk with Jackson. We need to "excuse" Sam the same way the 49er's did to Jimmy G. We can trade Sam the same way we traded for Baker.
-
If someone is in a meeting room early it means they don't have enough work to do, not that they just care more.

(Snarky) Corral it is.... The Mayfield link has begun.

If you don't approach the line, you'll never be big time. They weren't intercepted and then you come back on 3rd down and hit the deep crosser. Have faith, ye of LITTLE faith.

Who cares if he's first? Really? It has nothing to do with anything.
