Looks like you're the only person who got the point of this thread. I wasn't saying we are a playoff team. What I said was that we are one game back in a hapless division. As you said, we will probably be in first place after next week. People want to come in here and suggest I'm saying we are a legitimate playoff team, I'm not. What I'm saying is that at the mid point, we may actually end up being in 1st place. It's absurd.

I didn't say we would make the playoffs. What I said was we are ONE GAME OUT. That's a fact. You're adding commentary to the basic fact I provided.

Did we get rid of CMC to avoid having to use him so much

Did he? -
If we win here, we are 1 game back in the playoff race in the NFCS. It's 2014 all over again.
-
Didn't we all know this already? Everyone here wondered why CMC wasn't getting enough touches and then why we were trying to force him the ball. Just run the offense. Holy poo... App State is in the house with Wilks and Tae Hayes now.
-
Is it though? Worked for the 49er's and several other franchises including the Jaguars who now have an elite core of talent.

Are you really comparing Stroud to Herbert? The problem with Stroud is he is actually less gifted than Justin Fields and he's throwing to more 1st round wide receivers than we have here behind an offensive line that, within the context of the Game, is better than what we have. Stroud, like Hooker, plays within a system that excentuates what they do well which does not translate well to the pro game as we saw with Haskins and now Fields. You have to look at what the guys do well. I'd rather have Bryce Young at number 1 if that was an option. Stroud and Levis look like Day 2 picks to me. So if I have to take a QB on Day 2 or Day 3, I want McCall because he will probably be there. I don't want us to reach for a Stroud or Levis and set out team back even more. 2023 needs to be the ultimate BPA draft.

McCaffrey was a handicap for every offensive play caller we've had. For some reason they felt they needed to force feed him rather than just run the offense. This is on the play callers, not McCaffrey. -
This is nice, but we need to lose man. We need that top pick in the draft, not 8.

If we can get up 14-0 on the Bucs, we could have conceivably played better against everyone else we've played. I know the Bucs are a little down at the moment but Brady is Brady. As for the Bucs, I figured Arians stepping down would be a bigger issue than people acknowledged. Bowles is who he was in New York.
-
So not going for it on your own 20? We aren't trying to win here dude. We need to lose. Tank, trade back three picks, get three or four first rounders, two years We will be in the Superb Owl. If there was a Josh Allen type, I'd say go for it. But I think Corral can be a franchise guy so I'm inclined to build out both lines.

Mike Evans has single handedly taken away three scoring opportunities.
-
Tepper is making a call to the locker room right now.
-
Steve Wilks may be worth keeping if we can get a QB and play makers on offense. My bet slip is looking BAD. fug.
-
Please no. Hooker is who he was at Virginia Tech, he's just with a generational offensive minded head coach in Josh Huepel. There is no QB in this draft worthy of the number 1 pick. Your options are to take BPA or trade down to get more 1st round picks. Levis and Hooker are 2nd round or later talents.
-
If Steve Wilks had a QB and a great offensive coordinator, the team he could build may be great. He may be a Sean McDermott type honestly. Would not be mad at him being retained. Defense is light-years ahead of where it was three weeks ago and the guys really seem to be playing hard now.
-
Vilma again? It's obvious he still dislikes the Panthers in everything he says.
-
What is there to be excited about in this game? Seriously. This is worse than 2010 where we at least had some optimism in a rebuild and some interesting, core players. Our core guys are now Brown, Chinn, ans Burns and even those guys may be traded while the game is going on. There is nothing exciting about this game or this season.

Maybe I'll go back and dig up the threads on Micah Parsons so we can see how wrong everyone was and who was wrong. I'd imagine many of you are in this thread saying the same thing about Anderson that you said about Parsons.
-
I don't want Hartman. I don't want Stroud. I don't want Levis. If I'm being honest I think we lucked out with Corral in the 3rd and the fact that he doesn't have to play behind this God forsaken offensive line. He can learn to be a pro in year 1. Corral has the chance to be really good if it clicks mentally for him. He's got all of the tools you want in a franchise QB, if we can get a coach to develop him. This is why I want to go defense at number one. If you have a shot at a Micah Parsons, you need to take it and pair it with Brian Burns. Build the defense from the inside out. Brown, Burns, Horn, Anderson, Luvu, Chinn. That's a great core of defensive players to take pressure off of the offense. My preference is that we roll with Corral. I don't see a single guy in the 2023 draft I'd rather develop over Corral. But the Panthers gonna Panther and spend yet another pick on a QB after we've spent what, six picks on QB's in the past three years? It's enough. If you have number one, you've got to go BPA and that's not any QB in this draft.
-
I'd rather have Hartman than CJ Stroud. Give me anyone other than Stroud. People want to talk about system QB's and then ignore the history of Ohio State QB's in the NFL.
-
Here is the question, did the Lions take Aiden Hutchinson or reach for Kenny Pickett? They took Hutchinson. Why. Because if you took Pickett or Willis you were reaching and over paying massively. That's what we are looking at for 2023. Any QB taken at number 1 you are massively over spending for. That's a position for a generational, sure fire talent. Anderson is that. Now you pair Burns with Anderson for three years, let Corral develop his mind to match his physical tools, and you may have a championship window if you play the markets right and draft well.
-
The team with better QB play? It's the scheme. Dillon Gabriel put up better numbers in the same offense as Hooker has. So should we take Dillon Gabriel? Seriously, that's not an indictment on Will Anderson. It's a schematic issue and the Alabama defense which will have several 1st round draft picks was beat. So using your logic, Tennessee beat Alabama by 3 points therefor we shouldn't draft any Alabama defender? Fine, I'll bite, we should draft Henry T'o'to (spelling) because he started at Tennessee. I'll bite further, let's draft Hendon Hooker to run the AIR RAID IN THE NFL! Seriously, people can't say Grayson McCall is a system QB and then in the same breath say that Hooker isn't. Furthermore they can't say Hooker is such a great QB because Will Anderson, the Heisman contending defensive player, is bad because of how the Tennessee game worked out. He was double teamed all night long and Tennessee was getting the ball out quick all night long. People here said Micah Parsons was lazy, took plays off, was too small, didn't have the motor, and would ultimately flame out in the NFL. Parsons and Anderson are essentially carbon copies of each other. Y'all were wrong about Parsons, you're wrong about Anderson. I'm not an Alabama fan, I'm an App State fan. If I was saying this due to Fandom I'd say we need to draft Nick Hampton in the 4th round (still may not be a bad idea), but I'm not.

In which case I'd also rather take Sam Hartman over Stroud and Levis.
