MMQB: Breer on Wilks/potential OC candidate
CPcavedweller replied to *FreeFua*'s topic in Carolina Panthers
If we draft Anthony Richardson for anything other than a TE conversion I quit. Dude can't hit the ocean if he fell out of a damn boat. No. He's not Josh Allem v 2.0. -
What QB is worth it beyond Young and Stroud? If you draft a QB after them you're still in the "throwing poo at the wall to see what sticks". The Panthers NEED to go BPA in the first round which likely is Mayer at our draft position. We need a tight end, desperately. We need a third receiver who can take the top off a defense, desperately. You take Mayer and you take Hyatt. You've sent 9 draft picks away since 2019 to QB's and a few of them may have landed with Darnold so see where your investment stands before you sell at a loss just to buy another loser QB in Levis or Anthony Richardson.

David Tepper is keen on Will Levis
CPcavedweller replied to Chris Smitty's topic in Carolina Panthers
Someone tell this man to GTFO of the front office before we make another mistake. Build out the core of the roster and then worry about QB. If we get a serviceable OC, draft an elite tight end and 3rd receiver, Darnold will be much, much better than Levis. Leave it alone TEPPER. Mayer and Hyatt in rounds 1 and 2. I watch a lot of college football and the only dudes after Stroud and Young are depth pieces. I may even throw Sam Hartman a lifeline in the 6th round before I'd consider Levis. Finish building the roster, if Sam can't cut it with these guys, then move along. Dudes playing his best ball in this formula and of course Tepper would want to go changing poo. -
Our version of being like Dallas?

Who talks about 2015 like it was yesterday? How old are you? 7 years isn't really all that long, honestly. -
Panthers working out Josh Norman today
CPcavedweller replied to TheCasillas's topic in Carolina Panthers
He was great with Steve Wilks in the past. He's old, but was never all that fast to begin with. Probably better than the options already on the team though. This whole season has been weird so...LFGGGGG Bring on the weirdness. -
His two head coaches have been ADAM GASE and MATT RHULE. Arguably two of the worst NFL head coaches since the year 2000. If you put him in Los Angeles with the Rams what would mcvay get out of him? Dude could probably win a Super Bowl and look elite doing it. The issue isn't Darnold. And since you're an expert, who do you propose we draft to replace him? How many picks do you suppose we send to San Fransisco for a guy with the same problems in Jimmy G? There are no free agent QB's who will be better and no one we can draft will have a higher ceiling. Unless you want Anthony...barf...Richardson. Or worse...Will Levis... We need to a build a team and see what Darnold can do with quality tight ends, a quality 3rd receiver, and a competent (the first of his career) coaching staff. The thing about starting 3-0 last year was our offense was built around CMC. Now our offense is far more generic and is not reliant on a single player to work, thus this streak is not an anomaly like that was. We aren't replacing Darnold because we shouldn't. There is no one out there we can get, or should get, who is going to be better in the short or long term, especially in this draft. You put a mew QB in amd you have the same issues of the worst tight ends in the league and two quality receivers.

Denver defense doesn't suck?
-
Well...he did it again folks. Rating of 121, let's see what his Next Gen score is on Monday. You all can say what you want, but he's playing his way into an extension right now, as is Wilks.

CPcavedweller replied to Catsfan69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Before everyone freaks out, no receivers were open on that play. Darnold is allowed to throw the ball away. Dude looks like a starting QB to me though. He's looked good in every game he's played this year and it looks like if the defense holds, we will be 3-1 with him starting. Do not waste a pick on Levis. -

I'm going to say it again, if you can't get Stroud or Young, you don't waste a top pick on a QB. Draft Mayer and Hyatt, roll with Darnold. No need to waste a top pick this year when we have a guy with just as high a ceiling as Will Levis, if not higher. -

We don't need a QB guys. We need an elite tight end and a burner 3rd receiver. We will be golden. Roll with Corral and Darnold. -

Jared Goff is Sam Darnold with a competent offensive coaching staff. We need Mayer, Hyatt, and a modern offensive system and...with Darnold...we could be pretty damn good. For all of you who want to draft Levis...you've no idea what you're talking about. -

We need Mayer in the 1st round, not a QB. No one can convince me otherwise. -

Jared Goff is proof positive that when you build around a guy, he can develop. He's easily the most underappreciated quarterback in the NFL. I'm telling yall, give Sam a competent offensive staff and he will be fine. All the tools are there. -

Darnold just ran that option to perfection. Literally forcing the linebacker to take him. Best Panthers drive of the year. Let's go Wilks. Let's go Sam. Let's go Foreman. Prove the huddler naysayers wrong. -
Darnolds head coaches have included ADAM GASE AND MATT RHULE. A little hard to call him a bust when he hasn't had a competent coaching staff or front office considering his two head coaches were megalomaniacs who didn't know what they were doing and continuously traded away draft picks, who could've turned into impact players, instead of just playing the game. Give me Mayer, give me Hyatt, give me Moore, Marshall, and Foreman, along with a competent offensive coaching staff, and then let's see what Darnold can do.

Apple pulls out. So does Disney/ESPN
CPcavedweller replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just remember one thing when you get out...Sam Darnold isn't our problem. It's been coaching, lack of a 3rd receiver, and lack of tight ends since Olsen. Give Darnold a 3rd year with a competent coaching staff, Mayer, Hyatt, Moore, Marshall, and Foreman then see what happens. -
Mayer and Jalin Hyatt in the 1st and 2nd round. There are no QB's worth drafting after Young or Stroud that need to be picked in the 1st or second round. Build a squad and stop squandering picks for questionable QB's. We just drafted a guy, let's see what he's got before going off and wasting yet another pick.

Amazing moment…..and as always….respect to Rivera

F Rivera? For what? Everything he did here was done with dignity and respect. Four straight NFC South Championships...or three? What? -
Watching Zach Wilson play reminds me EXACTLY of Corral
CPcavedweller replied to DMathematics's topic in Carolina Panthers
Corral...and his 15 practice snaps and maybe 20 snaps in Preseason? He wasn't given an opportunity to do much of anything. But he has twice the arm of Zach and he is extremely accurate in the mid-range which is something Zach is not.
