  1. To trade down one spot and get another 2nd pick while still getting the QB we wanted? Then we get a guy like Mims on a rookie deal and Stroud on a rookie deal? Yeah, I could see us doing that. I'd actually recommend us doing that because it clears up cap for us to get defensive pieces for the 3-4 while allowing us to get guys like Mims and a TE like Will Mallory.
  2. Saw someone on the Raiders board mention that the Panthers were now looking to trade down. Obviously I have no idea who this person is or where they got their information but a trade down to 2 or 3 would make me feel a lot better about moving up, personally. Don't love losing our 1st in 24 and 25 and our 2nd this year when we have no receivers. If the Texans really love Young, as has been presumed, we need them to believe that some other team does as well and is trying to trade up. Some speculate that we traded up for Richardson which would make a trade back down make sense, but probably not until draft day so we don't get leap frogged again. I don't think any QB in this draft is worth what we gave up so this is the only way I can make it make sense. Drake Maye? Absolutely worth it. Caleb Williams? Yeah. The four guys in this draft? No.
  3. We don't need a WR1, WR2, WR3, we just need three solid receivers. Every contender has at least three guys who can stretch the field vertically, horizontally, and behind the LOS. Then you have the elite tight ends on those teams as well which we don't have. We are in a rebuild guys, which I'm fine with. This is going to be more like 2011 than 2013 (which I feel most people are expecting).
  4. What are we going to give for Courtland Sutton? The only thing that makes sense is a 5th. They are going to want a lot more. Despite what many think, this is a rebuild.
  5. We aren't going to have the space to sign a guy like Wagner, plus we already have Shaq and Luvu so we are going to be looking for depth guys. We will need to spend on the front 7 but it will be for a true 3-4 olb and defensive ends. We also probably need a 0 tech. Our defense has a chance to be a disaster next year, particularly in defending the run.
  6. Well, he's a 3 tech and we are running an odd man front. We need 0/1 techs and 3/5 techs who move live defensive ends but with the ability to anchor. Brown will provide some versatility, where he can kick it inside on pass rush downs, but outside of that, everyone should be concerned about our defense line.
  7. They will all be useless if we don't have a consistent pass rush and the ability to stop the run. I like Vonn Bell as a player but I've seen too many defenses with All-Star secondaries flail around because the front 7 was garbage. We need another pass rusher/anchor at OLB and we need a 0 tech. Marquis Haynes will get washed out one first and second downs but he has elite potential as a pure pass rusher. What I wouldn't give to have Hasaan Reddick back. The one that got away, for nothing.
  8. For $5 million? A waste? Who else are you going to sign with as much experience as him for that price? P.J. Walker? Rhule's pet project? I still think Darnold, with Jim Caldwell and Frank Reich, could be a quality starting QB. So if you get him at $5 million as a back-up, that's more than a win.
  9. 4-2 with Ben McAdoo and a bottom 10 pass blocking offensive line? The playing with Matt Rhule and Adam Gase? Better hope Stroud doesn't end up in that situation or he will be a "bust" as well, as most any QB would. It's not a shocker that Ryan Tannehill got away from Gase and became a solid starting QB. Then Darnold got the same opportunity but instead of going to a staff like the Titans, he got to go to RHULE. So give me a break with the Darnold hate. Who else do you want as a back-up? You're not getting Brissett. My guess is you'd rather end up with P.J. Walker?
  10. Why don't you want Sam Darnold? This would quite literally be his first NFL quality staff ever. He also proved he could be a capable back-up.
  11. Dude...we don't have the cap space for that.
  12. Well, Young even had to get out of the pocket to see plays with Alabama so I don't expect that to change in the NFL.
  13. And Murray has been injured every season he's played (save for one, maybe), and Wilson and Brees are two Hall of Fame QB's. Young may end up being that good but man, the track record for Murray and Tua staying healthy don't help Young here. It's a question of physics, not ability. Also, not all weight is created equal. Put Brees and Wilson next to Young, you will see they carry their muscle mass quite a bit differently than Young. Murray is constantly injured or playing Call of Duty so that's probably not the comparison you want to make.
  14. Stroud showed everything he needed to show for 2 years, yet people still doubted him. Then he played UGA, the nations unquestioned top defense, and Ohio State should've won BECAUSE of Stroud. Young is just too small man. What happens when a 350 lb DT grabs him and slings him to the ground? Kyler Murray can't stay healthy, Tua can't stay healthy, most of his comps get injured quite a bit. The only two guys I can think of his size who have been good, and healthy, are Russell Wilson and Drew Brees but Wilson is a different style of player and Brees is Brees. Stroud is giving me Mahome's vibes with his throwing motion, his release, his ability to buy time without looking to run, and how he just makes everything look easy. Give me Stroud.
  15. I can be a shy turtle at times...particularly when it's cold.
  16. Our offensive line was bottom 10 in pass block win rate last year. If that's decent, I've got beachfront property in Death Valley to sell you. We have holes, every where. Literally every where. The defense may be decent with quality guys at all three levels (Burns, Luvu, Horn) but what about the gaps between there in a 3-4? Our best receiver is Terrace Marshall. Our tight ends are garbage. We have Hubbard and Blackshear under contract right now. I tried telling y'all that Year 1 of Reich was going to be hard to watch but, it's going to be bad. It's also only going to give the Chicago Bears, a conference rival, another Top 10 draft pick to go along with a 1st they will already have in 2024. They already have their franchise QB, they now have a real number one receiver, they have Montgomery at running back. I have a few issues though least of which will be our inability to build the talent base of the team while helping a conference rival do the opposite. We should've traded down, nabbed Torrance, Darnell Washington, Zach Charbonnet, kept Moore, and maybe traded a defensive guy to get picks to make a package for Drake Maye or Caleb Williams in 2024. Our talent base would've been much better, we'd have more cap space, we wouldn't have to give up picks we didn't have, and we'd get a transcendent talent. I think Stroud has the potential to be like Mahomes but Andy Reid had built a monster of an offensive scheme and personnel before Mahomes got there.
  17. We have SIX PICKS?!? The Chiefs played 9 rookies in the Super Bowl. 6 picks isn't enough to fill the holes that we have. Personally, I think the offense we ran with Wilkes last year would be ideal to break Stroud in to the NFL. Power run game with 35 carries a game, throw 20 to 25 times a game, take pressure off of our horrid receiving Corp and rookie QB. Odds are we have to trade up to get the WR or TE we want as well so we probably won't have all 6 picks. We also know that we now have to go out and get a receiver in the draft.
  18. Some people question the plan here. We don't have the assets to build around the number 1 pick and the talent base of this offense is literally the worst in the NFL. So maybe we will have a decent offense by Year 3 of Reich, but this 1st year is going to be rough and I'd hate to ruin a number 1 pick by having them throw to Shenault, Shi Smith, Terrace Marshall, and Ian Thomas. Think about that for a minute. It's quite literally the worst receiving group in the NFL and it isn't even close. Then we have Blackshear and Chubba under contract at running back. Then we have a transition to a 3-4 defense coming. So people aren't upset, they just don't see how this is going to work in the foreseeable future. It reeks of Tepper wanting a cash cow to me. He wants to be noticed. That's it. It's not about winning because if it were, trading down amd developing the talent base of the entirety of the roster would've been the better move here. Could've had potential stars on the lines, tight ends, running back, edge rusher, safety, corner, etc. Now we traded all of that for one pick, along with DJ Moore... So yeah. People are wondering how this is going to work.
  19. Those teams usually have assets to build around the number 1 pick as well. And guess what, we don't have any. If recent precedent is any example, we will also make the wrong pick here. The last two notable guys who were traded up for in the Top 10 were Rosen and Trubisky. Then you get into the Jets run of QB's in Darnold and Zach Wilson. Our pick needs to be Stroud or no one else, in my opinion. He's the only guy worth the number 1. Maybe Young works out but he is just so small that physics says he probably won't be able to stay healthy (look at Tua). A lot of Young's throws have been to wide open receivers after getting 3 to 5 seconds to throw. Seeing how Stroud played against UGA makes him the undisputed number one guy in the draft, in my opinion. He had the single best game against them in quite some time. He made a ton of NFL throws, under pressure reminiscent of the NFL, playing against basically an entire defense that will be in the NFL. If it's Levis, dumb decision because we could've had him at 5 or 6. Richardson? Probably could've waited until 9. Young? Probably going to be injury prone at his size. Brees and Russell are small guys but they are built differently than Young.
  20. Another thing, Stroud will go from playing with two to three Too 15 draft picks at receiver to two guys who probably won't even be on the team in two years.
  21. Exciting right. Stroud, Terrace Marshall, Shi Smith, Chubba Hubbard, and the 24th rated pass blocking offensive line... Little cap space, one second round pick.. Long-term, I get it. But we also don't have a 1st to go get Marvin Harrison in 2024.
  22. Well, if Stroud sucks, which he probably won't, we are screwed for at least 6 years. We also now get to draft a number one QB with Terrace Marshall amd Shi Smith as our top receivers which means we hopefully go out and draft Mimms or Dell. Which means we neglect our defense which is transitioning to a 3-4. I would love to love this but man, that's a lot to give up for a team who isn't particularly close to a Super Bowl, and now we don't have a 1st pick next year either. Trading up in the Top 10 for a QB hasn't worked in probably 15 years and we are bereft of any talent on offense outside of the offensive line. Who wasn't particularly good at pass blocking last year. So we either have to hit in free agency, which, unless you're just getting retread veterans, is usually more expensive than the value you receive in return. Stroud seems a bit like Patrick Mahomes to me, in a lot of ways. His size, his movement, his arm strength and off platform throws, his demeanor, etc. But if we traded up for Levis, with everything else we are missing, it's going to be a shitshow. That's some Trubisky or Josh Rosen level dumbassery. I hope Fitterer has a plan because we have now created yet another hole by trading Moore. Plus, if we suck next year, the Bears get a very high pick again while they are slowly building into what could be a juggernaut if they hit in the draft. And they are in the NFC. So I don't love it. I'd have rather traded down and filled out the talent base of the team, then sucked for Maye or Caleb Williams. But hey, I'm not Tepper who is only in this for the money. Put me down as skeptical that this works out the way we want. Too much given up on a team with too many holes. If Stroud turns out to be a Mahomes type, it could work as the Chiefs just won a Super Bowl playing 9 rookies. But, if not, I just hope it doesn't take until Strouds 2nd contract for us to be able to get competitive.
  23. The offense Kentucky runs is hardly "Pro style". I guess it's more "Pro Style" than most but it isn't a Pro Style offense.
  24. Which is what? He was getting 8 reps a day in Fall Camp last year. Then the Huddle acts like his Preseason games were indicative of something. Lombardi is full of crap.
  25. If he is to be believed, we have wasted at least 10 draft picks on QB's in the last three years. Let that sink in. Now Tepper is going to be okay with mortgaging our future to move up? The Cardinals did that for....Josh Rosen. Look how that worked out. No trade-ups in the Top 10 have worked for QB's in the last decade. Mitch Trubisky and Josh Rosen say helllllooooo. Insanity at this point. I also think Lombardi is full of crap.
