  1. Steve Smith was built different. He was thicker bodied and had the attitude to go with it. Downs is like Dyami Brown or Jahan Dotson. It's not bad but it almost never translates to a 1 in the NFL. Give me Marvin Harrison Jr. to pair with DJ Moore.
  2. No, he's a small speed, slot like guy. He may end up being good but I can think of two guys on Ohio State's roster who are better, one on Tennessee, two on USC, umm...probably a few others.
  3. As I suspected, Hendon Hooker can't read defenses. He has a primary read and he never comes off of that read until its far, far too late. He has a lot of time to throw and just stares down his first read almost everytime he drops back. Kent State looked better against UGA than Hooker does. Their QB was going through reads and hitting his guys down the field. Hooker hasn't come off of his first read and made the throw all game long.
  4. Suck for MAYE. Seriously, Drake Maye is the next Justin Herbert. If we screw it up by taking WILL fuging LEVIS I'm going to lose my poo. Draft Will Anderson or a star wide receiver, sign Brown and Burns, if Corral doesn't pan out you get a shot at a guy like Maye in 2024. We are going to be in another 3 year plan here so, I'm cool with shooting for Drake Maye in 24.
  5. We really, really need to lose this game!
  6. Give me the pass rusher who is a sure thing over a potential project QB all day. We already have Corral, if we suck next year again we take Drake Maye in 2024, problem solved.
  7. That's the point I was making. How you can say Wilks is Rivera while saying McDermott is McDermott? The sample size doesn't exist as Wilks was scapegoated in Arizona.
  8. What do we do with Matt Corral then? We didn't draft him to be a career back-up. I think you take Will Anderson, Harrison Jr., Jackson Smith-Ngigba. I think Stroud is going to struggle without all of that 1st round talent surrounding him in college. Pro's are a whole new ball game.
  9. You could say McDermott is another Rivera as well, couldn't you? He's not a young offensive hot shot. He's a defensive coordinator who knows how to build a program and let people do their jobs. He trusts the people he works with. Wilks is Wilks. He isn't Rivera. Unless you know him personally, I doubt your word that Wilks is another Rivera means anything more than me saying that the Panthers should draft Will Anderson or Marvin Harrison Jr.
  10. Generally speaking, with the set-up of the league, being competitive is what can be expected for 50% of teams. 40% stay on top regardless of their turnover, 10% stay at the bottom. Sans getting a QB like Andrew Luck, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Peyton Manning, etc. a team isn't going to be consistently great. I think Wilks can establish a consistent culture. I think Wilks will respect people around the building enough to let them do their jobs. Let Fitterer General Manage, let an offensive coordinator coordinate, let a media room do media, etc.
  11. Chase Brice may get a look in an NFL camp. He's got the stats and the throws under pressure, as well as the arm to make it to Spring. Not sure that he makes it to fall.
  12. Panthers scouts are in attendance. Freshman Dalton Stroman with the one handed grab.
  13. Marvin Harrison Jr. in the first. He's the son of a Hall of Famer and has been footballing since he was in the womb. He's more physically imposing than his dad and is just as polished which shouldn't really come as a surprise to anyone. Grayson McCall in the second. He's been consistently great, breaking Tua's passer efficiency record with a 207 rating, or 217, in 2021. He's thrown 70 touchdowns to 6 interceptions in his career. He's mobile, he's 6'3, he's accurate and precise, he's local, give me McCall. Just because dudes are at P5's doesn't make them better, give them a higher ceiling, or make them more prepared to play than a guy like Grayson McCall who truly is one of the best QB's in the country.
  14. This is behind a pay wall. Sure you're not committing theft by posting the whole thing on an open forum?
  15. Why can't Wilks find a 30 something offensive need as an offensive coordinator.
  16. Will Levis is not Josh Allen. Jesus Christ this place and its hard on for P5 QB's just because they are in the ACC, Big 10, Pac 12, Big 12, or SEC. The question is of value. Grayson McCall may not be the next Josh Allen but there is no Josh Allen in this draft. Grayson McCall is 6'3, can move, throws with the highest level of precision into tight windows on time, with good velocity, on the move, and he works harder than anyone off the field. You don't get to where he is statistically in a "triple option" scheme without being an amazing passer, which he js. If I can find the game against Marshall, who has a very, very good defense as Notre Dame found out, there are two throws that illustrate my point. Both happened in the 2nd quarter where he dropped a 40 yard throw through the air, on the move, into a bucket just feathering the ball over the DB. The problem was his receiver dropped one and the other one forgot where he was on the field. I'm talking a dime into a tight window on the sideline while rolling out on one and moving in the pocket on another. Big time throws.
  17. Give me Will Anderson or Marvin Harrison Jr. In the 1st. Roll with Corral and see what he can do to develop while getting all of the 1st team reps through the off-season.
  18. Which is what I've been saying this whole time and people are getting upset about it. You have to go BPA. If there is no Lawrence, Luck, Newton, Manning, Rivers, Joe Burrow, you don't take a QB. I don't think Stroud or Young are any of those guys. Would hate to get a Top 5 pick wrong.
  19. If we were to draft Will Anderson on 2023, I'd say go for it.
  20. One guy didn't win the football game when he had the chance though, and that guy is Eddy Piñiero. He had two opportunities to win and flailed like a chicken with its head half cut off. It was cringy to see the offense and defense make such amazing plays in tough situations and then the kicker misses two gimmes.
  21. You think Hooker is the best in this class? He is the definition of a system QB. Look at every QB and their stats who has played for Heupel. I believe his last protege to be drafted in the 1st round was Drew Lock. People said many of the same things about Lock as they are saying about Hooker. It's a systems thing. Even C.J. Stroud makes me pause because literally everyone who plays in that offense puts up mind boggling numbers. Why? The talent surrounding them, generally, has the potential to develop into star NFL players. It's like playing on an All-Star team against the worst team in Little League 90% of the time. You see who guys really are when they get to the top. For Hooker, you may see who he is against Georgia. For Stroud you see who he is against Michigan. That's not because those are the best teams but because those are the teams you match-up with talent wise. I won't even say Alabama for Hooker because it was painfully obvious his success was largely due to the scheme getting Hyatt wide ass open all day long. Sure, Hooker hit the throw but you're not going to get guys that open. I want tight window throws accross the field, 40 yard ropes into the bucket, escapability, the ability to read the defense pre and post snap. I just am not sold on Hooker, at all, especially where he may end up being drafted. If you put Hooker with someone like Andy Reid he may be able to succeed because Andy Reid is the best offensive football coach, potentially ever. However we aren't going to have Andy Reid or anyone that can hold his jock. That said, I don't see anyone I'd rather have over Will Anderson over any of them. You have to go best player available if you have a Top 10 pick. Many people here were wondering WTF we were doing when we drafted Kuechly because we had Jon Beason and Thomas Davis. Well that worked out well. Many people wondered why we drafted Short and Star back to back, that worked out well. You go BPA and good things tend to happen. I'd also trade Horn if we could get a 1st rounder back. Then I'd spend that on an inside linebacker or safety. Cornerbacks help, but they don't win games. They can't take over games the way linebackers and pass rushers do. The value just isn't there if the rest of your defense isn't built.
  22. I don't think we will be there to take Young or Stroud. I'd like either, and if we can't get either then we need to take Alabama's DE in Will Anderson. He is a stud with the same measurables of Mica Parsons who absolutely wrecks poo. If we don't go that route I'd like a game breaking wide receiver or Tight End, if one were valued that high. If not that, I think we need a top flight safety or inside linebacker. I'd like to get a developmental guy like Grayson McCall in the 2nd round. People get upset about this but the value in that pick is insane. I expect his draft stock to go up in evaluation season though so we may not be there to pick him up.
  23. Would like to see Baker or Darnold get a shot. Specifically I'd like to see Darnold. Rhule is a turd, that much is obvious to everyone by now.
