  1. Yeah, and they are going to request a first round pick. So not only do they get Bryce Young, they get a Top 10 pick, if we trade. Yet we get a QB and we need more than just a QB to compete. Then, if Fields doesn't figure his poo out, we are stuck with a running QB who can't read defenses and will be in the same boat two years from now. Draft Anthony Richardson, develop him into the next Josh Allen, keep your picks, and don't help a Divisional Opponent pile in draft picks to eventually surpass you because, not only do they have a QB, they have the other players that they need.
  2. I'd rather take Anthony Richardson and not mortgage our future on an Ohio State QB. How many more draft picks do we have to give up? Richardson may take time to develop but his stats are nearly identical to Josh Allen's at Wyoming, he makes the same mind blowing throws, he has speed, size, etc. You could probably run a traditional offense with him as well as some of what the Ravens and Bills run. Give me Richardson over Stroud along with the rest of our draft picks.
  3. Could've had him as an OC...not sure why we had to make him the Head Coach after what a GREAT JOB he did destroying a perfectly good Colts team with a potential Hall of Fame QB's, or two actually, in Rivers and Ryan. I won't be surprised if he is mildly successful here for one or two seasons but considering the drama of Indianapolis, a place set-up to win, I'm not holding my breath. Wilks deserved a real shot st the job with his guys and his system in place. Three of the four Championshio Game coaches are really transcendent or have transcendent QB's. We will have none of that and Anthony Richardson might take three years to get there, if he could at all. And Reich is good, by certainly not transcendent. Give me Siriani, give me Doug Pederson, don't care for a coach who failed with that roster in Indianapolis.
  4. You're saying that because people saw Wilks go 6-6, we are happy with mediocrity? What we are saying is that WILKS went 6-6 with: 1. Three different QB's 2. Seven staff fired in season 3. As an interim QB 4. With PJ Walker playing at QB 5. Without your best secondary players 6. With a Rookie Left Tackle 7. While dealing away your diva 2nd team receiver who Rhule clung to for dear life That begs the question of WHAT COULD WILKS DO WITH A QB, HIS STAFF, and time to build out his roster? Furthermore, the brand of offense we ran wins games, hard. Look at the Bengal's, if they couldn't have run the ball in Buffalo that game is much, much closer. Look at Buffalo, they couldn't run the ball and they lost. Look at the 49er's, they run all over the place and win, Cowboys couldn't run. To win Championships, you have to be able to run to the ball. I know that's unattractive for people who'd rather be like the Bills during the regular season and just throw it all over the field then collapse in the post season because you can't run a traditional run game. Or maybe the Ravens? Hell, Philadelphia is who they are, why? They run the ball efficiently.
  5. I'm sure that's how the situation would go. Why you're so adamant about fighting a 45 year old NFL quarterback with more money than god is beyond me. At some point, you want people to stop asking the same question.
  6. Sexy day 3 may be Cam Peoples, out of App State, if he can stay healthy. 6'2 225 lbs and ran all over every P5 opponent that App played, including Texas A&M. Had 95 yards against Miami in 2021 when he went out midway through the 3rd quarter. Ran for over 100 against UNC. Big guy who literally runs through, over, and around people. If Achane is a Day 2 pick then I am a monkey's uncle.
  7. He has AJ Brown and Devonta Smith, along with Miles Sanders and a good coaching staff. They also have one of the NFL's best defenses which gets them additional opportunities on offense. While Hurts is good, I don't think he's everything people make him out to be.
  8. You get $70 million while mortgaging your future against Payton with the Saints as your bank. Surely Tepper isn't that stupid.
  9. Jalyn Hyatt of Tennessee or an elite tight end. We need to get a true third receiver who can break the top off of a defense and/or a tight end who can command attention of safeties.
  10. Umm...his year here as DC saw us as a top defense in the league, no? Top 5? The only eeason we were decent past 2015 was because of our defense. The offense absolutely fell apart when Cams Shoulder went missing.
  11. So I suppose it's a coincidence that two guys with the exact same skill set end up as MVP candidates with Dorsey as their QB coach. Anyone ever think that Cam had just hit his ceiling in 2015, then was hurt in 2016 and never recovered? That isn't Dorsey's fault. I'd also be willing to be proved wrong by trying to give him a shot with Richardson. That or Kellen Moore with Richardson.
  12. I've seen a lot of bad ideas so I thought I'd throw mine out there. If the coach isn't to be Steve Wilks, we should take Ken Dorsey should he want the job. Dorsey would also likely keep Wilks on as DC which would be an instant upgrade over the Rhule staff. Dorsey has now coached two guys like Anthony Richardson in Cam Newton and Josh Allen. Josh Allen's college stats are eerily similar to Anthony Richardson and both have the same athletic profile along with some similar intangibles. If you believe Gator fans and other's who follow Florida football, Richardson is humble, hungry, coachable, and very willing to learn. Dorsey led Cam Newton to an MVP season with an unorthodox skillset and has now led Allen to what will undoubtedly be an MVP Finalist type year for multiple years running. The ability to develop two unicorn type QB's, while one is available in this draft, cannot be ignored. He's also been apart of two programs that have ties to the Panthers and have resulted in the ability to, or reaching, the Super Bowl. Lastly, we would be able to trade down and still nab Richardson. We should be able to trade down and get another 1st and 2nd round pick, or a 1st and a late 1st, while still getting the QB we want. The benefit of this cannot be overstated as we already have two second round picks. We would be able to nab Richardson, nab a 3rd receiver, and a quality tight end while gaining a coach who have proven he can develop raw, hyper athletic QB's. There is no other coach available with the resume of Dorsey when it comes to quarterback development with guys with the skillset of Richardson, Allen, and Newton. Now flame away.
  13. Maybe Tepper should keep his ass away from hiring until the paperwork needs to be signed. He's not a football player, college football player, nor coach. He's as qualified as I am if not less considering the amount of time I sit around watching, talking and otherwise consuming football information. Give the job to Fitterer, you advise and consent and stay the fug away. You were "enamored" by Rhule as well and look where that got us. You've been so in love with the idea of getting an elite QB you've sacrificed 9 or 10 picks to try on guys who were known commodities. Build the core of your team. There is no Justin Herbert, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, etc. in this draft worthy of trading even more picks away to get. BUT...there may be a Brock Purdy. An experienced rookie with 3 to 4, or even 5 years, of playing time in college with the moxie, poise, and physical ability to take a strong core to the CHIP. Look at Brady. He started his career much like Purdy is looking now. Great core, average QB athletically and someone no one knew. If you can't get an elite QB, history shows that you should get a good QB to go along with a great core. Don't sacrifice a great core for an average qb or you'll stay below average until you hit on a QB, at which point you can't build a core.
  14. Before yall say "that's why quarterbacks matter". The Chargers have Justin Herbert...and still lost. The refs were the worst I've seen in a long time this weekend as well.
  15. Is it? Why is it the right approach? What offensive minded head coach that didn't allocate more resources to defense has won championships lately? Bill Bellichek won SEVEN as a former DC. McDermott has the Bills on the cusp with mostly former Panthers guys and a Panthers Front Office guy. Andy Reid is the regular season king who falters every post-season. McDaniel in Miami fell apart. Josh McDaniel couldn't win with DeVante Adams and Derek Carr (who played really well for Gruden). Hackett couldn't hack it with a future Hall of Famer at QB and quite the cast at receiver and running back. The only way I'd want someone over Wilks is if it's Jim Harbaugh. Give me Jim and I'll be happy. All he has done in coaching is win. He won with Colin Kaepernick for crying out loud. He won at Stanford. He gave Michigan two undefeated regular seasons in a row. Back up the Brinks truck for Harbaugh. Whatever he wants, give it to him.
  16. "Pray the defense holds up"? If you go for an offensive guy, it's more along the lines of "pray that the offense doesn't go up against an elite defense". How many Super Bowls has Andy Reid won? How many times has he had a Top 5 offense? How many times has the team with the better defense lost the Super Bowl? Remember 2021? Kansas City comes in flying high and were completely grounded by the team with the better defense? 2019? Rams come in and score THREE points because they went up against a better defense. How about the Dolphins collapse this year? EPIC. Now how about the 49er's? Offensive minded head coach who goes with a ground and pound style game plan and allocates resources to defense. They are the best team in football right now with a 7th round pick at QB. You can get an offensive minded coach with an INNOVATIVE RUN GAME that is very much smash mouth and finesse, yet allocate resources to defense, and still win championships. You don't have to get NERD MCDANIEL. You don't have to get Nathaniel Hackett (that went well). The best teams in the NFL right now, aside from the Chiefs, are teams that allocated far more resources to defense. Look at the Eagles (smashmouth, finesse offense), 49er's (smash mouth, finesse), Bills (smash mouth, run and gun), Bengals (smash mouth, run and gun type offense). To be elite, you have to be elite running the ball. To be elite throwing the ball, you need an offensive line that can protect. Ours was 21st in the league in pass block win rate and I saw Ickey get beat what seemed like every other pass pro. The point is, Tepper wants to change identity to sell tickets, not to win Championships. If you want to win Championships, you play defense and have an offense predicated on running the ball, whether it's in space or hard nosed. If you can't run the ball, when you face an elite defense you're going to be screwed. So I'm sure the fans will get what they want. Wilks deserves the job. Going 6-6 after firing 7 coaches and rotating three QB's including a guy who should be in the USFL? Furthermore, the Panthers copy cat in Buffalo has shown what a defensive minded head coach can do. Oddly enough, Wilks worked with McDermott for quite a while. I'd say he's more like McDermott and I'd like to see what he and Fitterer could do.
  17. The Broncos may be willing to offload Wilson for that. Wilson THRIVES in the scheme we were running this year. Play action pass with some improvisation and receivers who will operate the scramble drill. He's also a leader, as cringy as it can be. If we could get Wilson, even with his contract, for a 2nd I think you take it. Get Wilson, re-sign Foreman, draft a TE and third receiver, re-sign Bozeman... Could easily be the favorites of the South for the next three years. However I'm not giving up draft picks to take Stroud or Young. I'm also not drafting Richardson. His comp would be Josh Allen but Richardson doesn't have a ton of playing time and being a high pick will force him to play sooner rather than later. It's going to be a poo show, wherever he ends up.
  18. Them knowing what we want, it will probably be three firsts, two seconds, and a 5th. We may as well ask for Justin Fields and let them take Stroud.
  19. Have you done anything other than look at his stat lines? He can run, that's about it. Slow to read defenses, has to see a guy open. The best thing the Panthers could do is build a core of talent and develop Corral behind Darnold for another year or two. Want to know why Purdy is doing well? He was a four year starter in college, played in a pro style offense, and the 49er's core of talent is quite possibly the highest in the NFL. We will send another 8 picks away looking for a savior QB before we do the sensible thing and build an offensive scheme with a core of elite talent around a guy who can LEAD an offense. If Corral were with the 49er's I feel like he would be playing similar to how Purdy is as well but Purdy is already reading defenses better than Justin Fields and he was a 7th round pick. Save the picks, take BPA/offensive talent at WR and TE in the first two picks. If there is a QB with a lot of college experience who may be middle of the road in terms of tangible traits, take him in the 4th or later and see what you got. There is something to be said for playing time in college and how it translates to the NFL.
  20. It's crazy to think that the Atlanta game came back to kill us here. Obviously some mistakes in this game late with Ickey wiffing on a pass block, Henderson just completely forgetting how to football, and a questionable holding call on special teams, but it was the Atlanta game. It was always going to be because of how dramatic a finish it was. If we didn't have Rhule in New York and against Cleveland we may have won those games as well. I think Darnold can be re-signed and I think we can develop the core of this team now though. To have a game come down to this against playoff form Tom Brady with Darnold throwing for 300+ and 3 touchdowns with little to no running game, secures my belief that we can be a playoff team with Darnold so long as we get some help in weaponry. You throw a rookie like Levis or Richardson on this team and we are back to winning 4 games while giving up an opportunity for guys like Mayer and Hyatt who have a chance to be real stars in the NFL.
  21. You think Wilks, one of the best defensive play callers in the NFL, doesn't know this? It's the safeties job to make the right read and instead of taking Evans he took the underneath route.
  22. It's just Henderson...everyone else is fine. At this point put in Norman. Can't be any worse.
