I do have visions of Anthony Richardson and D'Onta Foreman running an option from the 5 yard line. If we could somehow get DJ Chark and Darnell Washington (UGA), we'd have the best size for a spread power running game in the NFL. But I'd rather have Stroud. I also think you can take the Kansas State running back late on Day 3. Forgot his name. Keaton Mitchell out of ECU would also be a decent option. Both are Sproles like but quite a bit taller. Sort of remind me of Austin Ekeler.

Fine. Sign DJ Chark and D'onta Foreman, draft Denzel Mims and Will Mallory and I'm happier on offense. At that point you have three solid receivers, an offensive line that should improve, and a power back that will require linebacker support close to the line to bring down, and a good receiving tight end.
-
Obviously I'm against over paying. However there is production you get from a big back like Foreman that you can't quantify other than look at the numbers of the other RB's on the roster (I'd think). So if he can be had for a reasonable price, which he should because of the number of FA backs, bringing him back is a no brainer. He will be doubly important for an offense that will be young at QB and on the outside.
-
Yeah, as if we don't have other holes to fill. I'm keeping 39 and drafting Mims. Then I'm taking Will Mallory in the 5th. Jerrod Clark (ideal NT at 6'4 330 who originally went to college as a TE) or Nick Hampton (Elite Pass Rusher measurables) in the 4th. We want talent to develop on Rookie contracts. That's what enables you to go out and get those missing pieces to make a Super Bowl run. It's why the Chiefs were able to make a Super Bowl run despite Mahomes contract. They played 9 rookies in 2022-23. NINE. It's why they can get guys to support Mahomes and that offense. So keep the draft picks, trust your evaluations, and develop guys.

Well, the back-up QB, regardless of whom your HC is (because they are more like CEO's, not position coaches), is very important. It's important for on the field purposes during the game, it's important to help break down film outside of work hours. They also help snip film for film study. So no, it's not overblown. Not in the least. If we are rolling with Stroud and Corral, we are going to be missing a huge element of what makes that job what it is. It's why guys like Colin Kaeper-get punched in the face didn't get a shot at jobs, he didn't want to be the back-up. It's why Russell Wilson would retire. It's why guys like Case Keenum, Colt McCoy, Tyrod Taylor, Heinicke, and Bridgewater will have jobs until they don't want them anymore. They are an extension of the coaching staff to the starter. It is very important, especially for a rookie QB. It's even important for a guy like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, even when Tom Brady had a former NFL QB as an OC. It's why we retained a guy like Derek Anderson for so long despite having a Shula as the OC and Cam being an MVP QB by that point. So don't undersell the value of this here just to pacify your feelings; or rather try to use irrational logic to suit your confirmation bias.

You can't teach 6'1 236 lbs. So if you want to compare Foreman, who has shown the past two seasons to be so, so undervalued, you'd be making a mistake. He may not be "elite" in the sense we usually think of, but he does have elite physical measurements and plays every bit of his size. He was a massive part of what made the Panthers even mildly successful under Wilks last season. Don't underestimate how his power impacted the rest of the offense. You saying he's like 30 others is like saying Derrick Henry is "JAG". Big backs just hit different.
-
You must be new here. There is no way to get JSN without trading Brian Burns or Jaycee Horn and he ain't worth that.
-
It's kind of too early to know isn't it? When your Head Coach gives you 10 snaps a practice then throws you put there with guys now working construction to block for you, what did everyone expect? I think if Corral had gone to the 49er's he would've been the ideal fit.
-
To trade down one spot and get another 2nd pick while still getting the QB we wanted? Then we get a guy like Mims on a rookie deal and Stroud on a rookie deal? Yeah, I could see us doing that. I'd actually recommend us doing that because it clears up cap for us to get defensive pieces for the 3-4 while allowing us to get guys like Mims and a TE like Will Mallory.
-
Saw someone on the Raiders board mention that the Panthers were now looking to trade down. Obviously I have no idea who this person is or where they got their information but a trade down to 2 or 3 would make me feel a lot better about moving up, personally. Don't love losing our 1st in 24 and 25 and our 2nd this year when we have no receivers. If the Texans really love Young, as has been presumed, we need them to believe that some other team does as well and is trying to trade up. Some speculate that we traded up for Richardson which would make a trade back down make sense, but probably not until draft day so we don't get leap frogged again. I don't think any QB in this draft is worth what we gave up so this is the only way I can make it make sense. Drake Maye? Absolutely worth it. Caleb Williams? Yeah. The four guys in this draft? No.
-
We don't need a WR1, WR2, WR3, we just need three solid receivers. Every contender has at least three guys who can stretch the field vertically, horizontally, and behind the LOS. Then you have the elite tight ends on those teams as well which we don't have. We are in a rebuild guys, which I'm fine with. This is going to be more like 2011 than 2013 (which I feel most people are expecting).
-
What are we going to give for Courtland Sutton? The only thing that makes sense is a 5th. They are going to want a lot more. Despite what many think, this is a rebuild.
-
We aren't going to have the space to sign a guy like Wagner, plus we already have Shaq and Luvu so we are going to be looking for depth guys. We will need to spend on the front 7 but it will be for a true 3-4 olb and defensive ends. We also probably need a 0 tech. Our defense has a chance to be a disaster next year, particularly in defending the run.
-
Well, he's a 3 tech and we are running an odd man front. We need 0/1 techs and 3/5 techs who move live defensive ends but with the ability to anchor. Brown will provide some versatility, where he can kick it inside on pass rush downs, but outside of that, everyone should be concerned about our defense line.
-
They will all be useless if we don't have a consistent pass rush and the ability to stop the run. I like Vonn Bell as a player but I've seen too many defenses with All-Star secondaries flail around because the front 7 was garbage. We need another pass rusher/anchor at OLB and we need a 0 tech. Marquis Haynes will get washed out one first and second downs but he has elite potential as a pure pass rusher. What I wouldn't give to have Hasaan Reddick back. The one that got away, for nothing.

For $5 million? A waste? Who else are you going to sign with as much experience as him for that price? P.J. Walker? Rhule's pet project? I still think Darnold, with Jim Caldwell and Frank Reich, could be a quality starting QB. So if you get him at $5 million as a back-up, that's more than a win.
-
4-2 with Ben McAdoo and a bottom 10 pass blocking offensive line? The playing with Matt Rhule and Adam Gase? Better hope Stroud doesn't end up in that situation or he will be a "bust" as well, as most any QB would. It's not a shocker that Ryan Tannehill got away from Gase and became a solid starting QB. Then Darnold got the same opportunity but instead of going to a staff like the Titans, he got to go to RHULE. So give me a break with the Darnold hate. Who else do you want as a back-up? You're not getting Brissett. My guess is you'd rather end up with P.J. Walker?
-
Why don't you want Sam Darnold? This would quite literally be his first NFL quality staff ever. He also proved he could be a capable back-up.
-
Dude...we don't have the cap space for that.

It's Stroud and it shouldn't even be close

Well, Young even had to get out of the pocket to see plays with Alabama so I don't expect that to change in the NFL. -

And Murray has been injured every season he's played (save for one, maybe), and Wilson and Brees are two Hall of Fame QB's. Young may end up being that good but man, the track record for Murray and Tua staying healthy don't help Young here. It's a question of physics, not ability. Also, not all weight is created equal. Put Brees and Wilson next to Young, you will see they carry their muscle mass quite a bit differently than Young. Murray is constantly injured or playing Call of Duty so that's probably not the comparison you want to make. -

Stroud showed everything he needed to show for 2 years, yet people still doubted him. Then he played UGA, the nations unquestioned top defense, and Ohio State should've won BECAUSE of Stroud. Young is just too small man. What happens when a 350 lb DT grabs him and slings him to the ground? Kyler Murray can't stay healthy, Tua can't stay healthy, most of his comps get injured quite a bit. The only two guys I can think of his size who have been good, and healthy, are Russell Wilson and Drew Brees but Wilson is a different style of player and Brees is Brees. Stroud is giving me Mahome's vibes with his throwing motion, his release, his ability to buy time without looking to run, and how he just makes everything look easy. Give me Stroud. -
Panthers sign Saints DT Shy Tuttle

Our offensive line was bottom 10 in pass block win rate last year. If that's decent, I've got beachfront property in Death Valley to sell you. We have holes, every where. Literally every where. The defense may be decent with quality guys at all three levels (Burns, Luvu, Horn) but what about the gaps between there in a 3-4? Our best receiver is Terrace Marshall. Our tight ends are garbage. We have Hubbard and Blackshear under contract right now. I tried telling y'all that Year 1 of Reich was going to be hard to watch but, it's going to be bad. It's also only going to give the Chicago Bears, a conference rival, another Top 10 draft pick to go along with a 1st they will already have in 2024. They already have their franchise QB, they now have a real number one receiver, they have Montgomery at running back. I have a few issues though least of which will be our inability to build the talent base of the team while helping a conference rival do the opposite. We should've traded down, nabbed Torrance, Darnell Washington, Zach Charbonnet, kept Moore, and maybe traded a defensive guy to get picks to make a package for Drake Maye or Caleb Williams in 2024. Our talent base would've been much better, we'd have more cap space, we wouldn't have to give up picks we didn't have, and we'd get a transcendent talent. I think Stroud has the potential to be like Mahomes but Andy Reid had built a monster of an offensive scheme and personnel before Mahomes got there.

We have SIX PICKS?!? The Chiefs played 9 rookies in the Super Bowl. 6 picks isn't enough to fill the holes that we have. Personally, I think the offense we ran with Wilkes last year would be ideal to break Stroud in to the NFL. Power run game with 35 carries a game, throw 20 to 25 times a game, take pressure off of our horrid receiving Corp and rookie QB. Odds are we have to trade up to get the WR or TE we want as well so we probably won't have all 6 picks. We also know that we now have to go out and get a receiver in the draft.
