Still worried. Always worried because depth is an issue on every team and one or two mis-steps can lead to a serious issue in a league where inches wins championships. So, worried still. If Icky still gets beat on occasion like he was against the Bucs in the 4th quarter of what was effectively a championship game, or Semi-Final, we are in trouble. If not, great.

Panthers sign former pro bowl LB Deion Jones
CPcavedweller replied to Panthercougar68's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was far more impressed with Luvu last year than any time I watched Jones play. If he is good off-ball it does provide an opportunity to be more flexible in your play calls and how you manage to flip the coverages. -
In live practice with pads 25 may have popped that ball out. He pulled up before the ball ever got to Shenault.

I think Darnold would've had a chance to succeed with Reich and Josh McCown as well. Alex Smith was garbage for the first few years and then he got the ship righted when he finally got a good coaching staff. Darnold has had Adam Gase and Matt Rhule as his two head coaches. Let that sink in. If Bryce was here with Matt Rhule and a would be FDNY Chief as his OC, would you trust them to develop him? No. What excites me most about what I've seen isn't Bryce but the teams use of Shenault. He has special abilities and could really be a Deebo Samuel type player with a touch less speed and more power.

It was a good decision. But if you can surmise that we will win many Super Bowls from that play, I'd like to know some lottery numbers.

Did we get hoodwinked on Miles Sanders

It's the Panther way. That said, ask me in January. -
Good, real football talk can occur here.

Anybody else think we are putting to much on Bryce's plate?
CPcavedweller replied to DennisM1's topic in Carolina Panthers
We don't know what's been put on him yet. It's fuging July people. -
Peoples is more like a throwback. But if you want to see him grind an opponent down, go back and watch the Texas A&M - App State game.
-
Cam Peoples? There is a reason he's on the team.

How's the knee?

Steve mentions 0-22 yard range as being Bryce's bresd and butter, while acknowledging he's not going to uncork the ball. If he can somehow get to the point where Brees was that a 60 yard throw isn't impossible, or improbable, he could be very, very good. But if he has trouble stretching the field, that opens up a whole new window of aggression for safeties.

Evero's defense will be fast and aggressive.

Money isn't the end all be all. Ambition would be for a Head Coaching job. Say something like Seattle comes up, you'd take that over the increased pay to stick around just due to their program alone. -
Bryce Young called a “mental savant”
CPcavedweller replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nothing you've said has come true. Dude hasn't even taken a snap in Preseason. So I suppose I'll continue to laugh until the time comes. "If you want to anoint their ass.." -

If that happens I really hope we have another guy lined up for a DC job. If he has another year like Denver had on defense, he will be gone in one or two cycles. -

There will be a transition. Make no mistake about that. We have 1's who can go, but we lack depth. -

Modern 3-4. Smaller, quicker. I'm interested to see if we have the personnel to run it efficiently yet. -
That if you believe he was really 204 lbs. The Combine saw him weigh in at 204 but not throw. Then for his Pro Day he threw but didn't weigh in. Colleges generally overestimate someone's weight so I'd guess Bryce was probably less than 185 while playing. It is a fact, that if someone 300 lbs lands on someone who is 260 lbs, the 260 lb person is less likely to be hurt than someone who is 190 lbs. That's what everyone is worried about and until the season begins, we don't really know if it's a valid concern or not.

PFF is always called trash here when it doesn't align with people's views. Yet, when it supports their arguments they will cite it over and over again. Can't have it both ways people.

I expect better solely based on the coaching staff. I really liked what I saw the back half with Wilks and Darnold where we looked like a real NFL program again. I'd expect that to continue with Reich and Young.
