I have an issue with this. After the draft, the team has already expended it's bargaining chip on the player. Once the player is drafted, they have all of the leverage on any contract negotiations and the team has already lost that pick, giving the player even more power in the situation.

If Shadeur Sanders was not the son of Deion, he would've been taken by at least the second round. His stats given the absurdly awful complementary run game in that offense were great. He will be great, if he gets the chance. My theory on Shadeur is that coaches shy'd away from him knowing that Deion would be lurking in the background should they fail. He hasn't turned down the potential of a NFL gig.

This is high school. they don’t need to be offering anything a typical student wouldn’t get. They are STUDENT-athletes. They are athletes second and that is a distant second in the grand scheme of things. As such, they shouldn’t get any more benefit than a theatre or band kid. but I digress, I’m sure I’ll be flamed for that opinion as we are in an era of putting everyone who plays sports on a pedestal, no matter how young.
